ABCNews.com:

The Obama campaign has bought a half hour block of primetime television - from 8-8:30pm ET - on Wednesday, Oct. 29, on CBS, NBC, and MSNBC, according to television industry sources.

The bold buy, first reported by the Hollywood Reporter and featured on the Drudge Report, will put the Obama show uninterrupted to American television sets across the country less than one week before election day. The Obama camp remains in talks with other networks to do the same on other channels.

Evan Tracey, chief operating officer of the Campaign Media Analysis Group or CMAG, estimates that 30 minutes of primetime network television would cost at least $500,000.

Good move! BUT, where are all of the anti-big-money opponents screams about buying the election? Clearly Obama's election fits the mold of being "bought" as well as any other in the last 20 years.

Well, maybe no one's saying anything because McSame's idea of "finance reform" is taking $84 million of taxpayer money--and then letting the RNC pay the hundreds of millions he needs for advertising/campaign fund parity with Obama.

Any ideas where those RNC millions come from?

Moral: Republicans are still buying elections, too. Don't worry about it.

You need to give your head a vigorous shake for a couple minutes, for, clearly, your thoughts are badly muddled.

Funnny how memory works, in rereading this I remembered something else. One other Democratic candidate in my lifetime has tried this. Just before the 1972, election, and at the moment when the Watergate investigation was beginning in earnest, Governor George McGovern bought a 1/2 hour of prime time and spoke to the American people about Nixon's involvement in Watergate. I remember this now, although I had forgotten it earlier. He sat in an overstuffed chair in front of a lighted fireplace in a blue sweater and prophetically asserted that the Watergate scandal extended into the Oval Office and that If voters voted for Nixon he would not serve out his term. At that point, McGovern was down in the polls and it was clear that this was a last ditch effort to get the American voters to pay attention to a scandal that up to that point hadn't resonated in any meaningful way with the American voters.

Well, if you're trying to compare this to Obama, the difference here is that, well, he's not down in the polls. He's also got far more support than McGovern. He's also run a completely different campaign from McGovern. Comparing him to McGovern at this point is like saying you and I could be twins because our hair color is the same.

Why Wednesday? It would be great Sunday or even Monday night.

And this only costs 500 grand? Common man, buy a half hour every night of that last week!

Don't you think he wants to avoid conflicting with football? Who is going to watch Sunday, Monday or Thursday night? Then Friday and Saturdays people go out. Wednesday is the winner.

And I forgot about baseball and the World Series. I'm sure they've carefully worked it out.

I actually watched that satellite promo he had on last week.

I think this sets precedent. A great idea. For those who are saying it will be a boring 1/2 hour, I challenge them to sit through it then decide.
In the meantime, I think we need to make this a successful campaign move and dig even deeper into our pockets and contribute.
Our jobs, homes, retirement funds, and our fids' future are at stake.

I would like to thank my good friend 22 year old (White) Spencer W. for opening this 50 year old 's (A.A.) eyes about Obama. I am from Baltimore and we've had so many charlatans in Black skin promoting their own self interests, that I was initially leery of Obama (predominately Black Balto. twice voted for O'Malley). So those who claim that the A.A. support Barack is receiving is race based are delusional. Not even Andre Bingley, a respected A.A. High school principle, and pastor no less, who during his Mayoral campaign ceremoniously wrapped himself in the African Flag (red/green/black everywhere!) and zenophobia, could persuade us to vote based on color. Nor did I vote for Jessie or Al Sharpton, the race baiters.Just a few people who share my race/culture thought I was anti-Black but actually I was looking for someone to unite the Country and it's people. I thought Hilary was it. I really did. But thank goodness, I was introduced to Obama. The real deal. Thank you Spencer and young America. It's your time!

I don't have a problem with Obama as prez, but I'm not gonna sit there for a half hour boring lecture.

He's been very tech savvy. Texts and/or emails his supporters. Now this. It's a brilliant move. I suppose McCain can't be too far behind.

This election is going to be a mess. Fraud is all over the place and if Obama wins he is going to have a rough time. I just read in NY Times that people who gave money to his campagin aren't real names, Acorn offices have been raided and all kinds of fraud has been found and a Federal Judge just ordered Ohio to verify the newly registered voters. Obama might win but it is going to be a nightmare for him and watch him age before our eyes.

He'll do just fine pepper...worry more about old man McBush.

That's ACORN's problem. The local election boards can erase those people from the roles before the election. One thing Obama's camp needs to learn is that everybody is not legit. The ACORN group in St. Louis, MO was accused of the same thing, registering dead people. It may have been a well intentioned group to start with but it has become a liability and needs no more funding.

That is a smartest move yet. Go Obama/Biden 08" I just recieved a yard sign. I'm going to let everybody know what this election is all about. I've talk to young people and asked if they are voting and they said yes! I told them to talk to their friends and make sure they are registered if it is their first time voting. And vote! Its too important of election not to do so! I asked one young person if they had to vote who they would vote for and she said Barak Obama I love him! So everybody we need to tell of friends, familys and young people to watch the T.V. Oct 29 th. 8:00-8:30.
