Monegan

The Alaskan public safety commissioner fired by Sarah Palin was contacted three dozen times over 19 months by the governor and her staff, who were pressuring him to get Palin's former brother-in-law, a state trooper, off the force, reports the New York Times.

At one point, the commissioner Walter Monegan got a phone call from the director of Palin's Anchorage office asking that the trooper, Mike Wooten, not be assigned to work at a state fair in 2007, where he had volunteered for duty in full costume as "Safety Bear," a child-friendly mascot.

The reason provided by the gubernatorial aide was that Palin "was also planning to attend and did not want the trooper nearby."

Monegan claims that he was fired because he failed to remove Wooten, who was engaged in a brutal child custody battle with Palin's sister.

"I thought to myself, 'Man, do they have a heavy-duty network and focus on this guy,'" Monegan told the Times.

Palin's aides also discussed Wooten with Monegan's successor, Chuck Kopp during pre-employment conversations. "Is there anything you can do?" an aide asked Kopp.

Alaska must have absolutely no problems, nothing requiring a governor at least. That the "co-governors, Sarah and the Dude, had time to persure this brother-in-law thing ad infinitum, makes me wonder what else they had time for.

Many people who like Palin probably think that this is petty. However, I hope they realize how unbearable this type of harassment by a government official can make everyone's life. Mr Monegan was supposed to be working for the people of Alaska, not acting as an enforcer for the Palin family.
If the brother-in-law was so awful, that's what the courts are for. The family should have spent the money to hire a lawyer rather than going after him at taxpayer's expense and on the taxpayer's clock.

Losing one's job due to illegal political influence is anything but petty.

Just wait for the legal settlement the taxpayers will shell out for this illegal firing.

Hope Mr. Monegan gets enough cash to set himself up in some comfortable line of work.

Seeing as his career was destroyed for not doing the wrong thing.

"However, I hope they realize how unbearable this type of harassment by a government official can make everyone's life. "

Yes, but only if you believe causing your ex-brother-in law to file bankruptcy because your actions of pressuring the state worker's compensation board to deny his claim constituted harassment. Say it ain't so Sarah...say it ain't sooooooooo.

www.adn.com has a very thorough rundown on this case from the beginning for anyone wanting to get up to speed on our new sister sarah. This palin is the terrorist she claim's Obama to be. She and her successionist member husband and her promotion, support, and speeches given on behalf of the AIP qualify she and toddy boy as terrorist's in my humble opinion.

Ever notice that these liar types are doing the exact thing they falsely accuse their opponents of?

I know, it's straight out of the rovian playbook. Well, let's see if the Alaskan legislature votes to reveal the report today shedding new light on sista sarah. Something tells me sarah you've been a naughty girl. Hmmmm...what should your punishment be. How's about impeachment by the Alaskan State Legislature for starters?

If everyone who had a relative with marital problems could get the inlaw and everyone who stood in their way fired the world would be in chaos. These people do not play by common sense or legal rules. That alone should alert the American public to how the Palin's operate.

Palin was doing what any good "Christian" would do. Eliminating anyone who crossed her. Sarah Palin is David Duke with lipstick.

palin thinks she is at the top of the world today. what she's forgetting is that life is a b*tch (pun intended) and that whatever goes around comes around. when this is all over and obama takes over the white house, mccain and the republican party will pull out all of their goons from alaska and palin and her husband will be left all so alone fending for themselves. the wolves will circle in soon. do you think mccain will lift a finger to help her? i don't think so.

They will if she has the goods on them. Knowing her you can be sure she does.

You are not getting it the Republican party doesn't give a whoo's ass about McCain he is the sacrificial lamb it's Sarah they want, why else would she have gone to Grinch's school and why else did she hire a publicist, $32,000, who paid for this? She is the Republican's next George Bush! I might live long enough to see this but she is the annointed one!

You are EXACTLY right! I have talked to folks here in my state about Mc/P. Mc is an means to an end. What the really want is P who will provide way right leaning inertia and can be easily manipulated.

Typical Friday news DUMP by the McCain campaign.
Isn't it a FEDERAL offense to allow non-government employees access to private personnel files under the Anti-Identity Theft laws since they contain financial information (salary, S.S. numbers, etc)?
The First-Dude should be doing hard time for this.

You're right. I clicked on stuff that I seriously did not want to see. However, after doing a little research myself, here's a link to the Anchorage Daily News page with an interesting video concerning Troopergate. Go check it out: http://www.adn.com/troopergate/story/551531.html

umm no my point is Trolls are sending out VIRUSES, so watch your backs folks.

There is one Virus called tinyurl. Do not go there. If you dowload the link, you will see an anti-spyware application pop onto your screen called SAV.

If you get infected, type msconfig in Run and you'll find two SAV links in your startup list. Delete them. Then you should check your Windows Registry after you delete SAV from your msconfig (type run: msconfig). When you get to Windows Registry click on HKEY Currrent User, Software and you'll see SAV listed among your software applications. Delete it. Then check your Windows Program Files in C:, you'll find SAV there as well. After that you can do a disk check scan, go to hard disk drive C:, left click Properties, then Tools, check Disk Check. Turn off your computer.

Whoah. Todd had access to government personnel files? Serious breach of confidentiality. The Governor should resign for that alone.

I just tried to post about McCain is being thrown under the bus and Sarah is the new hopeful --- pending approval

Clearly Palin ran as an elected official, then stayed at home for 312 days while her husband an unelected official run the governors office. He had access to personnel files while working at the same time for an oil company in one of the biggest energy states in the union. This is troubling. This is not partisan it is just the plain truth, how long do we the American people get shafted by such people, while we pay taxes which are also allocated to them through earmarks.

McCain will probably see to it that she's cleared. What an egregious abuse of power. This should also open America's eyes to what Todd Palin will have access to as the husband of the VP too. If he had access to all depts and personnel issues in AK, what free rein will she give in in Washington?

Also, there's no doubt they're trying to cover their tracks with Todd taking some of the heat off of Sarah. There's no way Todd did all of this and Sarah was sick of hearing it. No way.

To even broach an employee's name in a job interview is what? Defamation? Slander? WTH were these people thinking? As the Palins have risen in AK, they have come to believe they own the state.

With the multiple stories Palin has told about Moneghan's firing, if I were Moneghan, I'd file a lawsuit against all of them. With no written counseling to back up her reason for firing Moneghan, he certainly has a case.

No wonder Palin arrogantly disses Obama on TV and at the rallies, inciting racist rhetoric. She's created that same entitled environment in AK. Go back home. The country is in crisis and we don't need or want those people to run this country.

Here we have the Mc Cain team clearing Palin of all wrong doing and ascribing partisan attacks, in the light of a Governor who surrounded herself with people who did her dirty work.

Her husband Todd served as the King Pin ordering investigations into the legitemacy of a workman compensation case should be rewarded to Whooten. Todd even produced pictures of him on a snow mobile.

Not to mention the meetings he called in his wifes office to discuss Trooper Whooten.
The testimony that is surfacing from office workers has condemned the Governor already.

So Lets Talk About Judgements and Associations. Yes they do matter Govenor Palin.

WOW.

McCain/Palin have completed their own investigation & concluded in their 21 page report that Palin is innocent so no need to continue the official investigation.

the mccain campaign's preemptive press release suggests its awareness that there is incontrovertible proof that palin is in fact guilty of abusing her power as governor. thus, her judgment and character is just as questionable as her speculation of sen. obama's.

propagandizing what the ayers' did in protest of the vietnam war isnt sticking, i would contend, bcuz most americans during that time protested that war. that war, i might add, for which sen. mccain fought and had become a pow. and the ayers were not convicted of any crimes. does mccain not believe in the freedoms he himself fought for and the constitutional right for which the ayers are entitled? with a platform like "country first" i can only hope this question isnt rhetorical.

How many more stories on Ayers than Troopergate were there yesterday? Why is the MSM focusing on Obama spending time with a Professor rather than an actual ethics investigation? I know obama wants to just ignore Palin, but I think either he or his surrogates need to approach this.

The time to hit McCain is when he has absolutely no time to respond. Wait until after the next debate when all McCain cards have been dealt and bet. Then it's time for Obama to go all in.
