Fired Official Contacted 36 Times By Palin And Her Staff

The Alaskan public safety commissioner fired by Sarah Palin was contacted three dozen times over 19 months by the governor and her staff, who were pressuring him to get Palin's former brother-in-law, a state trooper, off the force, reports the New York Times.

At one point, the commissioner Walter Monegan got a phone call from the director of Palin's Anchorage office asking that the trooper, Mike Wooten, not be assigned to work at a state fair in 2007, where he had volunteered for duty in full costume as "Safety Bear," a child-friendly mascot.

The reason provided by the gubernatorial aide was that Palin "was also planning to attend and did not want the trooper nearby."

Monegan claims that he was fired because he failed to remove Wooten, who was engaged in a brutal child custody battle with Palin's sister.

"I thought to myself, 'Man, do they have a heavy-duty network and focus on this guy,'" Monegan told the Times.

Palin's aides also discussed Wooten with Monegan's successor, Chuck Kopp during pre-employment conversations. "Is there anything you can do?" an aide asked Kopp.

This sort of behaviour is criminal in it's intent - certainly morally reprehensible. Why are there not laws to prevent this kind of behaviour, especially by those in Office - who should be held to a higher standard. I think the investigation report is due to be submitted today. Once done, Wooten should be found to come out about how Palin, inc has behaved. I mean if she's going after his job even his volunteer duties, I'm sure other pressure has been brought to bear. I want to hear from Wooten.

Her decision making skills and success as a parent are dubious at best, but she likes to tout her role as mayor and mom.
If she doesn't succeed at home and in her own backyard, why would anyone trust her judgement?

I would point out that only the Republican Party has a certified anointed witch hunter and demon caster on its presidential/vice presidential ticket.

I look forward to a day when all candidates for office (from mayors of small towns to the presidency itself) will have been anointed to root out the witches and demons which plague our society.

With all this campaigning, it's getting pretty crowded under my bed. First, of course there was the bogeyman who has been with me for as long as I can remember. Then Islamofascists moved in. Then illegal aliens - Lou Dobbs kind for sure. Maybe even some Scully/Mulder variety - I really don't dare to look. Now judging by the occasional snow and rain around the side of my bed, I fear a Weatherman has moved in. Then Rooskis. Assorted dangerous left wing Chavistas and who knows what. Now commies - if I had known this place was crawling with them, I would have moved a little farther south in the Commonwealth.

I'm thinking of getting a king size bed since they're getting pretty crowded down there. The only ones who don't seem to be much trouble are the liberals - except for an occasional whine.

The question though is do they make industrial strength rubber sheets for king size beds - I'd hate to buy a mattress and ruin it - if you know what I mean.

I agree that she had budget priority issues with Monegan. She didn't want to pay for the rape kits necessary to verify that a person had been raped -- she wanted the person who had been raped to pay for the kit. Monegan thought that the cost of documenting that a crime had been committed was the responsibility of the police authorities (just like the cost of documenting any other crime). He went to Washington DC to lobby for money to pay for those kits.

Palin's stand on that issue was disgusting. Her retaliation against Monegan (because he took a position based on common sense and common decency) was disgusting. Her slimy campaign attacks are disgusting Come to think of it, pretty much every stand she takes and everything she does is disgusting. It's time to send her back to Alaska, and hopefully they will contain her there.
