Fox News Ironically Obsessed Over Newsweek Palin Cover

So, have you seen the cover of this week's Newsweek, with vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin in extreme close-up, revealing that the GOP's latest celebrity actually ages, and has slight wrinkles, like us mortals? Yeah, well, the good folks at Fox News aren't having any of it! The fact that this image was shot in this way, without an eye toward touching the image up digitally, is unfair. This morning, they gave this issue - that will help many of you decide how to vote, no doubt! - a thorough going-over. They even called in outside experts to discuss photoshop and alterations!

The overall message seems to be that the failure to alter a picture is a clear demonstration of liberal bias. How ironic! Because there was never a need to ask for outside opinion on this matter. As Jane Hamsher notes, Fox News has plenty of in-house expertise on how digital image alteration can help provide conservative "balance." Or have you forgotten:

On the July 2 edition of Fox News' Fox & Friends, co-hosts Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade labeled New York Times reporter Jacques Steinberg and editor Steven Reddicliffe "attack dogs," claiming that Steinberg's June 28 article on the "ominous trend" in Fox News' ratings was a "hit piece." During the segment, however, Fox News featured photos of Steinberg and Reddicliffe that appeared to have been digitally altered -- the journalists' teeth had been yellowed, their facial features exaggerated, and portions of Reddicliffe's hair moved further back on his head. Fox News gave no indication that the photos had been altered.

After putting up the photos of Steinberg and Reddicliffe, Fox & Friends also featured a photograph of Steinberg's face superimposed over that of a poodle, while Reddicliffe's face was superimposed over that of the man holding the poodle's leash.

Insert "lipstick on a pig" joke here, I guess!

Fox new's "fair & balanced" mantra is such a HUGE joke. They lean so far right, I'm surprised they haven't just fell over. That pic of Palin is what she REALLY looks llke without the freakshow makeup.
She's history so we all shouldn't be wating good typing keystrokes on her....except, like Auhnold..."She'll be BACK!".

What an "agonizin' reaprraisal".

Fox news is full of honey's
With the IQ of Playboy bunnies
They shriek and squeel, "Unfair, unfair"
With pouting lips and well dyed hair.

GOP extremists are dividing this country with hate and are assisted by fascist journalists reporting only a single view for the foreign owned Fox News who"s only interest is controlling American"s lives.

This coverage is a Prime Example of the reason America's Presidential Elections MUST be removed from Commercial Television Networks!! Our Founding Fathers never imagined for a second that National Elections would EVER Be Privatized!! We're now experiencing WHY they came to that Conclusion!!

Governance in the United States of America is WAY Too Important to be entrusted to the GD Market Place!! Period!!

They are also too obsessed with connecting Obama as being as terrorist. After the Troopergate verdict came out late Friday citing Palin as being guilty of violating the public trust, Fox was showing an old video of Louis Farrakhan endorsing Obama. While all the other cable network news programs had various journalists on to discuss the the bipartisan findings from Alaska, the Fox neocons were grilling an Obama adviser about Obama's connection to Farrakhan and giving a McCain supporter air time to say that Obama is not being truthful to the American people about his association with terrorists.

The conservatives should be happy that people are focusing on Sarah Palin's superficial imperfections and not her character.

Three Fox News bimbos passionately deb ating whether Palin should have been airbrushed? Complaining that Obama was obvious retouched in his cover photos? Don't they have anything better to talk about?

Yet again, the Republicans are offended by reality.

You hit the nail on the head. This is why conservatives see liberal bias in everything. The truth has a liberal bias. Supply-side economics DOESN'T work. Sarah Palin is NOT qualified to be president. John McCain IS running a sleazy campaign. Any fair and objective piece of journalism makes these facts clear. This is not a "liberal bias". It's simply the truth.

They should also look good while being idiots. Dana Perino will be a new morning monkey and they will tout her extensive "shilling" experience.

.........for the whole reason 'Professional Wrestling' by law , cannot be published as a sport, its 'events' are called 'exhibition matches'. (using atheletic skill to perform a scripted outcome)

Fox News should , by law, not be called 'News', because it is crafted 'opinion making', ( using interpretations and re-interpretations of fact for the singular legitimization of a political-social agenda
-Right Wing Conservatism-)

Fox is starting to sound like a bunch of babbling fools.

If they are so concerned about "fairness" why did they film the O"Reily interview with Senator Obama under a blacklight to make him look sinister? Why do they distort and spin the Ayers story? Why don"t they talk about the shady characters in McCain"s life? Look at all the criminals that seem to have a happy home on the network Rove (can ignore a subpoena), North (ex-con) etc. Can"t we just turn it off?

For crying in a bucket! This is not a fashion magazine, it is Newsweek. If they want her digitally altered, they need to get in the pages of Playboy.
