Palin Cover Saga

So, have you seen the cover of this week's Newsweek, with vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin in extreme close-up, revealing that the GOP's latest celebrity actually ages, and has slight wrinkles, like us mortals? Yeah, well, the good folks at Fox News aren't having any of it! The fact that this image was shot in this way, without an eye toward touching the image up digitally, is unfair. This morning, they gave this issue - that will help many of you decide how to vote, no doubt! - a thorough going-over. They even called in outside experts to discuss photoshop and alterations!

The overall message seems to be that the failure to alter a picture is a clear demonstration of liberal bias. How ironic! Because there was never a need to ask for outside opinion on this matter. As Jane Hamsher notes, Fox News has plenty of in-house expertise on how digital image alteration can help provide conservative "balance." Or have you forgotten:

On the July 2 edition of Fox News' Fox & Friends, co-hosts Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade labeled New York Times reporter Jacques Steinberg and editor Steven Reddicliffe "attack dogs," claiming that Steinberg's June 28 article on the "ominous trend" in Fox News' ratings was a "hit piece." During the segment, however, Fox News featured photos of Steinberg and Reddicliffe that appeared to have been digitally altered -- the journalists' teeth had been yellowed, their facial features exaggerated, and portions of Reddicliffe's hair moved further back on his head. Fox News gave no indication that the photos had been altered.

After putting up the photos of Steinberg and Reddicliffe, Fox & Friends also featured a photograph of Steinberg's face superimposed over that of a poodle, while Reddicliffe's face was superimposed over that of the man holding the poodle's leash.

Insert "lipstick on a pig" joke here, I guess!

FOX New's updated slogan: " Facts and UNPHOTOSHOPPED images have a left-winged bias."

I used to think that Hannity was the worst of the worst when it came to fox new, but these nit-wits from fox and friends has taken the lead and particularly that Steve Doofy. If you watch Fox from for it's entertainment value, it's actually a very fully show.

I believe Foxy News has such high ratings simply because many viewers tune in purely for the entertainment value. I find their content to be absolutely hilarious...in the same sense that those old Japanese sci-fi movies (that are cult favorites) are so bad that they're good. Unintentional hilarity is the best. The best professional comedy writers couldn't come up with that stuff even during their wildest toke n' coke parties.

It makes sense. They're all for the touch ups that McCain makes for Obama in all of McCain's ads, you know, how they make his complexion darker. Maybe that's why their upset. Newsweek didn't make Palin black enough.

If you are selling sex and porn, looks matter. Thats what the GOP has sunk to. I am a former Republican and may I say the party has lost its mind. I have contributed more to Barack Obama than any other candidate in my life. This country simply cannot afford a doddering old fool who admits he has no idea about economics or business and an aging beauty queen who siumply hasn;t got a clue about anything outside of Alaska.

What are the Republicans thinking? They have been listening to the neoconservative Billy Kristol crowd too long. Even though every decision Kristol has helped Republicans make have ended in disaster, McCain took his advice on choosing Palin. I guess they need to hit an iceberg before they see the Titanic is doomed. Palin just might do it.

I am through with Republicans disgusted by the spineless Democrats. Both parties have allowed Bush to have his way. However, until a viable third party emerges, Democrats are all we've got. Maybe Obama will reform HIS party and make them the real party of the people. Here's hoping!

I can't believe that this great nation of our's has sunk so low that they are even unable to comprehend that the Dow Jones is sinking even lower by the hour. FAUX NOISE is more like TABLOID journalism. They look for sensationalism. Have we become that insane that we have to talk about Palin's appearance on a cover of a news magazine. Who are these women? Everyone of these women on FAUX NOISE channel are pretty bad looking to me. With the country in an economic crisis, these women talk about assinine things which speaks volumes about their brains. I even wonder why they are on the news channels other than FAUX NOISE. Please stop giving these dimwits their two seconds of moronic chatter on the air waves.
