If anyone had any doubts as to whom Jon Stewart supports for President, they were cleared Tuesday night at the Project ALS benefit at the Waldorf-Astoria.

Host Ben Stiller called Stewart "America's young elder statesman of political comedy" and surmised that on his Comedy Central sendup of the news, Stewart "can't take sides."

"Oh," said Stewart. "I think it's pretty clear.

"Neither of them is perfect, but if you, out of nowhere, are going to grab a woman out of the woods and make her your vice presidential candidate, what can I do?

"[Sarah Palin] is like Jodie Foster in the movie 'Nell,' " Stewart continued. "They just found her, and she was speaking her own special language.

"Have you noticed how [Palin's] rallies have begun to take on the characteristics of the last days of the Weimar Republic? In Florida, she asked 'Who is Barack Obama?' Hey, lady, we just met YOU five f-ing weeks ago."

Jon, you simply rock! Watching The Daily Show is de rigeur in this household, particularly during this election. Where else can I get the honest lowdown? I haven't laughed this much since SNL did "the Church Lady" on GHWB. With everything going down the financial drain and having to deal with this election at the same time, we need all the humor we can get! Thanks for being there for us!

Even her nickname is weird: "Barracuda". Whoever heard of barracudas in Alaska?

She's been chasing down bigfoot with Cheney and David Duke, Karl Rove was driving so as to keep put of the line of fire.

Hey! Leave Jodie Foster out of it. I'm sure she is as appalled by Palin as the rest of us. She's too intelligent NOT to be.
I still adore you, Jon, but I like Jodie too. Play nice.

I haven't noticed any mention of SNL blaming Barney Frank for his part in the Fanni Mae- Freddie Mack debacle? What's the deal? You guys got such a chuckle out of the Sarah Palin skits??

whaaaa whaaaa, my party is losing and I don't have anything better to post than Barny Frank hit pieces. Fewl.

I'd love to see SNL doing a takeoff on Barney Frank and the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac problems. Why have we not? The liberalism extends to such comedic talents, that I don't think Lorne Michaels would allow a liberal to be roasted on his show, though Barney Frank would be a good target.

Newsflash - there was an SNL special on Thursday night and they did a sketch blaming Barney Frank for his part in the FM-FM debacle. I got a chuckle out of it. But you can keep pretending it didn't happen if that fits in better with any liberal-media-persecution bias you have going on.

Okay, to those who still have doubts of Barack Obama because of his skin color, get over it. Just get over it, this is a good man here, he deserves a chance to show all of us what he can do, I think in the end we will be very glad that we did.

Sure, there are things that he can do, but he has to have MONEY to do them; and the art of the office he seeks is prioriitiizing what he needs to do and on a BUDGET. As far as "he deserves a chance to show all of us what he can do:" Gee, I deserve to be chief cardiothoracic surgeon at whatever hospital; but given that I don't have any surgical experience, I HAVE TO EARN THE RIGHT!

After all, these times don't lend themselves to on the job training, by someone we have every reason to distrust.

You have your saying and as well as anyone else. We can't have some one who makes her own judgments for the things that we've been trying so hard to recover from being existence/endanger list. Wanting to drill more than anything else on earth is a bad sign for the wild animals. Plus whom is going to be future v.p wants change that don't believe in animals that shouldn't be in the endanger list, saying they're over populating the Alaskan shores. Lady, your very own Alaskan are embarrass, as they claim, of your action and abuse of power. If you really want change as you so claim in the campaign, then make the rest of the Americans believe that that is what you wants. Stop with the cheap Minnesotan/Texan ascent that you invented, really not telling who you are. The question shouldn't be Who is the REAL Obama? It should be Who is the REAL Sarah Palin? We just discover you, like a new specie, of course you're popular with the American people.
In Alaska, you want to destroy every thing you can lay your hands on just to make more profits. now who want palin as vp? Like of course, off shore drilling and getting rid of animals that comes your way. If you so claim that you love the Alaskan plains, then really show that you love it, don't destroy it. Otherwise if you can't do that, stop demeaning yourself you selfish b***h.

How very progressive of you. Can't wait till y'all are in office so's youse can teach us hicks a thing or two. Betchya even think she's racists because she's wearing white, cause EVERYONE in the know knows you can't wear white after labor day. How utterly "common".

Jon Stewart along with Jack Cafferty are two of my American heroes. Among my reasons are: their intellecual acumen; grasp of international politics; a sense of fairness; integrity; commonsense; and the guts to say what they really mean. Two people who don't run with the herd because it's expedient to do so. God bless both of you and your respective familes. And my condolences once more to Jack for the loss of your wife. You're sorely missed on the "Situation Room" where you're the only true example of what honesty and integrity in journalism and news analysis is all about. And to you Jon, I thoroughly enjoy your show and so do all my friends and family members. You're an icon here in the UK.

So Professor,

Do you also believe that the only reason why people are NOT voting for Obama is because they are racist?

(That's what Cafferty asserted in a recent broadcast.)

aren't you late for a hate that one rally?

Perhaps you'd be better served by saying WHY you think McCain is still in the race

I'm here to tell you there are MANY more reasons NOT to vote for Senator Obama and if you have 2 hours of free time, I can put a dent in your bubble.

Asfar as Jack Cafferty, what a liberal pol on CNN.

Folks, as many of you as possible need to contact McCain, in every manner possible, to let them know that voters are disgusted by INCITING HATEMONGERING. If even an attempt his made to harm Obama, John McCain and everyone involved with his campaign will bear some responsibility, and they need to know that Americans are disgusted and ashamed of such behavior in an attempt to win an election!

I've contacted the compaign on mega occasions (I have a slightly easier time of it, as I'm on his healthcare coalition and healthcare advisory board) and made many suggestions about his being more aggressive. I tihnk he's been stifled by the campaign itself, because they KNOW he has a temper.

Knowing this, I think his frustration comes out sideways, but he'll begin to unleash a few zingers, especially since Obama has left himself open on the ACORN debacle and economy.

Stewart lives in my neighborhood (darn newbie!), and I see him and his kid once in a while walking around. Seems like a real nice dad.
