MSNBC:

I tried to get in touch via Facebook with Oliver Clark, the man who McCain said probably didn't know what Fannie Mae was before the financial crisis (at Tuesday's debate). Apparently others have done the same. He just posted the following on his Facebook page:

How did I feel about Sen. McCain stating "You probably never heard of Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac before this."
Well Senator, I actually did. I like to think of myself as a fairly intelligent person. I have a bachelor degree in Political Science from Tennessee State, so I try to keep myself up to date with current affairs. I have a Master degree in Legal Studies from Southern Illinois University, a few years in law school, and I am currently pursuing a Master in Public Administration from the University of Memphis. In defense of the Senator from Arizona I would say he is an older guy, and may have made an underestimation of my age. Honest mistake. However, it could be because I am a young African-American male. Whatever the case may be it was somewhat condescending regardless of my age to make an assumption regarding whether I was knowledgeable about Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

Did anyone else notice that John McCain wasn't wearing an American flag lapel pin during this debate? I assume his recent poll numbers have him truly hating America. I don't want someone in the White House who hates America, especially someone with known terrorist associations:

What do we really know about John McCain? He could be a serial killer. Do you know for sure? Does it matter? Are you willing to take the chance? Spend just seconds thinking, and imagine a McCain Presidency in which our America-hating Chief Executive is dragging your children into the woods and burying their limp, brutalized bodies to never be found.

We must not give John Sidney McCain the reigns to power, the privileges of office. Vote against John McCain, it could mean the lives of your children.

He's probably not a serial killer, but he may be a spouse abuser.

If you haven't read this long article on McCain yet, do it now. It's worth your time:

...magnificant article about John McCain....long but McCain is old and there's a lot of territory to cover. After reading this article - Make-believe Maverick - I now see why he's so desperate to win, and win at ANY cost.

Shame on you, Oliver! All those degrees and you were undecided at this late stage of the campaign? I thought undecideds were high school dropouts!

How about that motley crew of "undecideds" Soledad O'Brien assembled for the last debate ... yikes! THESE are the clowns Obama and McCain are fighting over? One freaky lady who could barely utter a coherent sentence (no, I'm not talking about Sarah Palin) wanted MORE SPECIFICS! Then they all chimed in that they wanted more specifics!

Who knew these undecideds had such a thirst for knowledge?

I wish Oliver Clark would challenge McCain in his next senate run.

That's quite an impressive resume.

I'd say he's more qualified than SP. Lol.

And probably has a grasp on birth control.

I was so offended by McCain's answer. He constantly talks down to people and I believe that is why he will lose the election. You shouldn't assume someone doesn't know something, this young man is far more educated than McCain. He comes off as such an old, condescending ass! I was disappointed the MSM hardly mentioned this incident after the debate.

McCain and Palin and the RNC are counting on Americans being dumb. I guess we'll see on November 4th, if they are right. God help us if they are.

I too picked up on that. Nice. Underestimating just how much the American public really knows. No wonder he thinks he can win with his shananigans.

sounds like McCain was the only one who didn't even know what Fannie Mae was before all this fuss. 'condescending' was a good description, but I would add 'arrogant', 'presumptuous', 'demeaning' and 'prejudiced'.

McCain could care less whether the individual who asked the question knew about Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac until recently. He was talking to the millions watching the debate on TV, not the live questioner. (Such is life in election-time America.) And obviously, McCain calculated that many or most home viewers didn't know much about Fannie and Freddie until recently.

Obviously, this was a dumb calculation for one hugely important reason--Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac own or guarantee roughly half of the mortgages in the country! Of course most Americans would know about them. The fact that McCain said this is evidence that he thinks the voters are stupid. This is why voters just aren't buying what he's selling.

But see McCain figures that most black people live in shacks or ghetto apartments, just like on TV! So they wouldn't know about these things.

The bailout bill was pure highway robbery. As Ralph Nader said, Congress had Wall Street over a barrel - they could have demanded practically anything along with the bailout - and they let Wall Street put America into the barrel and roll it off a cliff.

Obama and Biden were wrong to vote for the bailout.

And yet Nader can't run for any other public office than the President of the United States? C'mon, Nader is totally full of "himself".

Oh, man. How embarrassing for the angry old dude. I cringed a little when McCain made that comment and my first thought was that he had said it because the guy was black. Guess I know how to spot a bigot when I hear one.

We are in the same boat, Oliver; we are all being insulted and underestimated continuously by McCain. Rejoice, for it is only for 26 days more.
