McCain Debate Questioner: "I Actually Did" Know Fannie

I tried to get in touch via Facebook with Oliver Clark, the man who McCain said probably didn't know what Fannie Mae was before the financial crisis (at Tuesday's debate). Apparently others have done the same. He just posted the following on his Facebook page:

How did I feel about Sen. McCain stating "You probably never heard of Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac before this."
Well Senator, I actually did. I like to think of myself as a fairly intelligent person. I have a bachelor degree in Political Science from Tennessee State, so I try to keep myself up to date with current affairs. I have a Master degree in Legal Studies from Southern Illinois University, a few years in law school, and I am currently pursuing a Master in Public Administration from the University of Memphis. In defense of the Senator from Arizona I would say he is an older guy, and may have made an underestimation of my age. Honest mistake. However, it could be because I am a young African-American male. Whatever the case may be it was somewhat condescending regardless of my age to make an assumption regarding whether I was knowledgeable about Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

I thought it was a very condescending remark that McCain made and Mr. Clark should have called him on it at that moment. Really put McCain on the spot. McCain might be surprised how many "middle americans" actually know some stuff and don't just walk around with thumbs up the butt!

He thinks we are all ignorant and stupid!!! We get that reputation bc far too many who are out in public as as such.... but rest assured, there are just as many, if not more, intelligent, successful black people!

So, thank you Oliver... for showing great judgement and calm when responding to Sen McCain.... they would just love for you to be up in arms so they can say, " see... he acts just like a N*#@er"

I stopped listening during the first minuet. He is either on crack or looking for attention. If he was looking for attention he should have noticed that he was in the wrong place. Maybe he is Bipolar and was going through a manic stage.

Oliver Clark's statement is a thoughtful and reasoned response to McCain's assumption that he had probably not heard of Fannie or Freddie. Thoughtful and reasoned...right there, Mr. Clark is already more qualified to be president than McCain.

I'm glad to see Mr. Clark's statement. I thought McCain was condescending toward him, and pretty much everyone else under 50. Mr. Clark considers himself to be fairly intelligent and up to date on current affairs. His statement shows him to be a classy individual, as well.

John McCain is a 72 year old man whose mother literally owned a Mississippi plantation complete with black sharecroppers. He fought against the MLK holiday until the state of Arizona was losing convention and tourism dollars.
