McCain Debate Questioner: "I Actually Did" Know Fannie

I tried to get in touch via Facebook with Oliver Clark, the man who McCain said probably didn't know what Fannie Mae was before the financial crisis (at Tuesday's debate). Apparently others have done the same. He just posted the following on his Facebook page:

How did I feel about Sen. McCain stating "You probably never heard of Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac before this."
Well Senator, I actually did. I like to think of myself as a fairly intelligent person. I have a bachelor degree in Political Science from Tennessee State, so I try to keep myself up to date with current affairs. I have a Master degree in Legal Studies from Southern Illinois University, a few years in law school, and I am currently pursuing a Master in Public Administration from the University of Memphis. In defense of the Senator from Arizona I would say he is an older guy, and may have made an underestimation of my age. Honest mistake. However, it could be because I am a young African-American male. Whatever the case may be it was somewhat condescending regardless of my age to make an assumption regarding whether I was knowledgeable about Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

Funny how McCain assumed Oliver didn't know what Fannie Mae was and seemingly assumed that he was not a homeowner. I think McCain's just getting old but it doesn't look good.

You've got a lot of fans, Oliver....and to suggest he made an honest mistake marks you as a gracious young man.
When I was probably about your age, an elderly gentleman once said to me about a nasty old neighbor who was complaining my geranium bushes were too big (!!!) ..."don't let him give you the idea that old people are nasty. I've known him 50 years, and he has ALWAYS BEEN like that.
I don't personally know McC, thank goodness, but I've got a feeling the same applies.

When McCain said that I immediatley screamed at my TeeVee "You jerk. He probably knows all about Fannie and Freddie". In fact, I'll bet a majority of educated Americans knew.

But that isn't the point. The point is he tried to blame Obama while his own staff was being paid to lobby HIM on Fannie's behalf.

Thanks for writing this Mr. Clark. John McCain is apparently a victim of his own age and social limitations. Even my 18 year old knows the answer to that question. Very class rejoinder.

Pesky, I am with you. My neighbor's dog Lulu, with her bllind eye, liver-failure, and inability to digest whole foods, has more of a grip on reallity than Sarah Palin does.

If McCain wanted to pick a woman, why didn't he pick some of the other female Republican candidates who were more substantial. Instead, he picks a woman who has a milliion demons in her family and closets. His choice in picking her as VP is being considered the stupidest political move in American politics. This shows his inability to make correct judgements.

Consider this:

Ah, but I think McCain, didn't pick Palin just for her gender. It couldn't be just any republican woman, it had to be one that specifically "spoke to the evangelical base, and at the same time, caused Joe Six Pack to forget all about issues. She had to be a 'hottie'. (That's my take on it, at any rate).
