McCain-Palin Rally Attendees: "Obama Is A Terrorist"

File this one under the "give 'em enough rope" column. A pro-Obama blogger in Ohio caught McCain-Palin supporters as they streamed into a rally and asked some of the most salient questions of the day. Like, "is Obama a terrorist?"

Hate is powerful, but it needs a burning flame to grow. If McMav is elected, they will stop their hate speech and go back to keeping certain races on a status-quo basis. The overt hate will not be out there anymore, having served its purpose, securing the Presidency for a war-and hate-monger

If Obama is elected, these same people will still hate. Some will turn, most will not. But without the central flame that makes it publicly acceptable to hate, they will turn inside and keep it private again.

I really just do NOT see our country getting to the point where we have 100,000 person hate rallies like Germany did in the 1940's. While disgusting, McMav just doesn't hate that much. I have a feeling that Sarah doesn't either, and that she's just doing what she's been told to do by the slime machine.

Well you probably didnt see a steep economic recession comming eight years ago either. If this is the best argument you can come up with then you need to go back to the drawing board. You obviously dont know that much about the last 5,000 years of human history. No one knew what they were getting into with many dictators that were chosen by the people or by a group of people in one form or another. These videos are scary. Do people in these videos realize that Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid are "socialized" programs? and that without them, they would be on the bridge to nowhere?

I am just appalled about the ignorance some people display; let's talk about the issues. Did you see how people got quiet when they were told that rape victims had to pay for their own rape kit? and then an "energumeno" male (It is a Spanish word) had to should "She should die" and they laugh.

There is way to much hate in the world. The Obama supporters talk facts, the McCain supporters yell slogans that they don't know anything else about. I am scared for our country and for Senator Obama. If McCain gets elected the country continues to head for ruin, if Obama gets elected I think that one of these nut jobs might just try to kill him. McCain and Palin are deliberately raising an army of hate.

These videos are the EXACT reason why we must keep educating folks and keep the level of calm and civility that Barack displays. I used to live in Ohio, and faced this very kind of ignorance and hatred. I just kept talking to these kinds of folks, despite how much they angered me. I was called many names, threatened, and assaulted....but just kept calmly talking to them. In time, I did get through to some, as reasion does get in eventually. We must remember: they are our fellow Americans, they have the right to their opinion as well...detestable as it is.

Keep conversing with them in person, persistence DOES pay off. If we stoop to using the same name-calling vitriol, we are no better. Emulate Barack...speak to them calmly and intelligently.

Oh yeah. I've seen those faces in Ohio.
It was May 1970. I was a high school student with top grades, straight-arrow, clean cut, yes sir, yes ma'am, obey the rules. The Nixon/Agnew folks and the Republican machine promoting Jim Rhoades stirred up hatred that I could not have imagined. The country was polarized because of the Vietnam War. I learned quickly that I was the enemy at hand in Ohio because I was of student age. After the shootings life was hell.

You can attempt rational dialogue with them, but frankly it's very difficult to impossible because very few people have the educational or intellectual capacity to search the facts, think for themselves, and sort wheat from chaff. They are very, very afraid. They really do spend all day listening to Rush and FauxNews. They really don't know much more than the innuendo. Few have traveled outside the US. As David Brooks has finally acknowledged, they are not merely anti-intellectual, they are anti-education and anti-knowledge.

Those people who oppose "socialism" should be asked if they support Social Security. Ohio's economy depends on Social Security because so many people are retired. Ask the people in line if they have union jobs, and if that is considered socialism. Few good jobs remain. Most of Ohio is extremely depressed economically and psychologically. People are at wit's end. They are looking for someone, anyone, to blame for their plight, but can't look in the mirror.

The McCain supporters keep yelling to the Obama supporters "Get a job!" even though they themselves are apparently attending a rally, which presumably is not their job. Where are their jobs? Why is it OK for them to be off the clock, but not the Obama supporters?
