Michelle Obama Makes Daily Show Appearance

Smiling but showing the wear of the past twenty months of campaigning, Michelle Obama made an appearance on The Daily Show last night, where Jon Stewart immediately remarked on how strange it was that after such a long campaign and such thorough public vetting, "This woman from Alaska, Sarah Palin, wants to know who you are."

Stewart asked, "Do you ever think to yourself...who are you?" "That does cross your mind," replied Obama.

The two discussed the growing intensity of the campaign rhetoric, centering on Barack Obama's past. Michelle Obama noted that the grueling primary process had already brought thorough scrutiny, and more or less confirmed that they would not be going on "family ski vacation" with Bill Ayers. Though who knows, maybe if Bill Ayers had gotten involved in some healthy activities as a young man, no one would be worried about this stuff today.

Obama confessed that she's tuned out some of the media conversation, saying, "I've stopped reading and watching a lot of stuff." "So you are a lot like Sarah Palin," Stewart joked. But Sarah Palin reads everything! All the newspapers! Crazy McCain oppo! Starbucks coffee cups! She's like a Roomba for the "verbage."

Actually, in Palin's defense, Michelle Obama mispronounces the word "pundit," as well.

Obama went on to say that she enjoyed the debate, despite the pressure of having to make a Daily Show appearance. "He very clearly believes you observe him with an objective eye," Stewart prompted. Obama replied, "I put myself in the position of a voter, and I tell him, if I don't believe you, I'm not voting for you, buddy." But, lest you think there's some fence-sitting, she did declare herself to be an "Obama momma."

Michelle Obama also tamped down the notion that there's any sort of personal friction between the candidates and their families. "I think some of that gets overanalyzed...we don't have time for long conversations, but [Cindy McCain is] very cordial...we have to be careful about all of this, because some of it is theater. And the reality is, Barack has tremendous respect for Senator McCain."

WOW -- I thought I would switich over from CNN, FOX, NBC to see if there is additional info and 'what a surprise" ... the Kool Aid for Obama is served here !! Frightening, disappointing that his character and very bad decisions are not being considered and enlightening as we near an election that is riddled with more fraudulent activity than ever before in our history. I am from a swing state, currently living in a swing state -- hoping that common sense will keep this guy out of the White House.

Faux News (as you call it) is pretty much this link and most of the 24/7 coverage these days. Reading is fundamental -- and in reading more (to learn more) about Barack Obama, the facts speak for themselves. He is black today, white tomorrow, depending on the audience he is speaking to (insulting) .... he only backs away from Rev Wright when it got too deep (and he now sounds like him on occasion) ... Ayers launched his career but he acknowledges him as "just a guy in the neighborhood" ... and his affiliation with the ACORN world is about to bring his world into a spin. And the number of cars & homes of McCain are not the issue --- again, his wife is wealthy ... guess that makes him smarter than Obama!

I too am hoping that common sense will prevail and keep McCain/Palin and their "race baiting, bottom of their class graduating, unethical, power hungry, unqualified to have an intelligent thought about the economy" brand of politics out of the White House.

Seriously? Mccain has his own questionable associations to the likes of G. Gordon Libby, Haggee, Charles Keating, Donald Diamond, Rick Davis, his involment in the USWFC in the early eighties, his Russian and georgian russian ties. And then there is his running mate. Moose Burger barbie and her husband use to be involved with a seecctionist group just this year she gave them an opening speech to thier convention this year and attended thier convention in 2006 and 2004. She is covering troopergate, rape kit gate, own 25K on her taxes which also don't include pier deims she took, bridge to nowhere, ear marks to build structures on property the state did not own...but some how or another Obama is the bad guy? spare me

It is very sad that even now as the icecaps melt and tons of methane are released from the polar zones, as the financial markets melt and people are scrambling to stay employed and keep, in the words of our Dear Leader, "food on their families," someone like you seriously contemplates keeping the better of the two available candidates "out of the White House." Must you lose the nation, your fellow-citizens, and the whole earth before you wake up and realize we are on the path to assured destruction?

Reading your note is like listening to Obama answer a question -- blah, blah, blah. Lots of words ... little content. But then again -- he has MUCH to hide as documented by notable sources like The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, etc. And by the way, I am awake -- very awake as there will be so many sleepless nights if this guy gets elected. Keep drinking the Obama kool aid ... otherwise you might have to wake up yourself and face reality of someone NOT ready to be President (he has not even been a Senator yet) !!!

She came to speak in our city back in January. I honestly didn't know what to expect but she floored every person in the convention center with her warmth, intelligence, and character. It was clear the level of empathy her husband has is not lost on her becasue she was able to so fully connect with every person in that room in some way. I think she will make an outstanding first lady and I look forward to it.

She is so refreshing. Not like a puppet on a string, or a lap dummy, who only speaks what her master tells her to.

But I get if she refused to come before the media to answer questions, or if she was addicted to drugs, that she used her power to steal that would be great.

My question to America is, is the Amercian dream only for people without color on their skin, or only for the self righteous. McCain can reach across the isle and take trips with a crook, help deregulate the banking laws, help bring down the Savings and loans, which cost tax payers billions, but that is not a problem. Now when we are going through the same situation, McCain is good enough to be president, and Palin she okay we do not need to know anything about her, after all she white.

If McCain/Palin is eclected, then all of the world will know what it feels like to be black in America.
Because no matter how hard you work, you kids will not be able to go to college, can get a loan, you will be livin in the hood.

Michelle Obama is such a class act. While is being gracious during this interview to Cindy McCain, Cindy is out trying to torch her husband for being a terrorist. Cindy is the exact opposite of Michelle. I would be proud to have the Obama's represent my country to the world.
