I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Angelina Jlie

Angelina Jolie won't officially endorse a candidate, despite one being actively sought from both campaigns, but she had nice words for the Democratic nominee in the the German edition of Vanity Fair:

"Obama is fighting for international justice, he wants to intervene militarily in genocides abroad, and he wants to close down Guantanamo Bay. They are things which could move me to vote for him, not his roots. Of course, an American president like Barack Obama would be great for my family."

But that isn't "reason enough to vote for him."

On being American:
"I am very proud of being American, and all my children have got American passports.

"For me, our family is just what America is - a melting pot, a mixture of many different races and nations," she says. "My children should be proud of their Asian and African roots, but that in no way means [is] a lack of respect for the fact that they and their parents are Americans."

On having twins:

"It's a damned arduous business, and we are often simply whacked out because it is twice as hard with two babies as with one.

"But it also makes for double the fun. After we flew back from Europe, we were all suffering a bit from jetlag. We were all in bed early, but at half past four, they were awake and making a real racket.

"Brad took care of them. He said to me, 'Go back to sleep, you're back to work in the morning,' and moved into the kids' room with them. He is an astounding father, full of devotion.

"Every three hours they get hungry, then I have to satisfy them. But that's OK, the two of them are totally sweet.

"When you see them, you think they were made for each other. They laugh together, they sniff each other, touch each other. It is beautiful."

On her relationship:
"Sometimes, at the end of the day, we try to retire to the bathroom to be undisturbed. But then [the kids] hear the water running and want to come in and, yet again, we are all together. But that doesn't disturb us because they are great kids."

On fame:
"I would like to have more freedom, especially to have the chance to be more spontaneous with my kids.

"Would I like to be able to walk through the streets with my kids? Of course. Would I like to be able to wander around Manhattan and buy them an ice cream like other mothers? Of course. But it is not possible.

"On the other hand, every morning I wake up with the people who are the most dear to me in the whole world. That's why I don't feel isolated from that, which is important to me. It helps, of course, that Brad knows all about it, but he's experienced it even more than me. We often talk about it and try to make the best of things. But I am very grateful for our life and everything that we have."

I actually admire the spirit of self-sacrifice that this woman has. And some of you people are obviously lacking comprehension skills when you criticize her for saying that it's not a good enough reason to vote for someone because they are good for her family.

She didn't say she WASN'T voting for him.

What she was TRYING to say - and what intelligent people understand - is that when you consider who you're voting for, you have to not only consider whether or not they are good for your family in particular, but if they are good for EVERY family. If they are good for the COUNTRY. If they are good for the WORLD.

My former best friend votes for the person who is best for her family. But she is republican, her father is a (shady) businessman who benefits from tax breaks and lack of regulation, and she went to college with the money he made from people who now have a class action law suit against him because they were cheated out of their money. The person who is best for HER family would be, hands down, John McCain.

But uh, obviously, he wouldn't be good for the rest of the country.

There are simply more things to consider during a Presidential election, and I admire someone who is able to think about the BIGGER picture when they make a decision, as well as the smaller one.

TO BROOKLYNCITIZEN: So, if you were a handsome actor or actress, and every magazine wanted your pictures and your interview, and you had a movie coming out, and part of your job was to sell the movie that cost millions to make, you would just say, no thanks? I'm sick of idiots like you saying that B&A try to be in the spotlight. They actually spend a fortune to do the opposite. They HAVE to sell their movies. They spend millions of their own money on charities around the world. Its easy to sit in your easy chair at home and criticize isn't it? Does it make you feel more important? Smarter? Jealous much?

One thing I love about Angelina, and always have, is that she never tries to sound cool, or give some impression of her life as idyllic. She always tells the truth, warts and all. Who does that? She is brave. By now I'm sure she is well aware of how many people think she is crazy, but she doesn't let that change her. She is awesome. Oh, yeah, and for someone who could spend all her time being self indulgent, or acting like a "spoiled movie star", she spends alot of time and money helping people around the world. How many of us can say that?

I know it sounds crazy to have so many children, but theres plenty of money for them to all go to college. And they will all be blessed to be part of a huge loving family. And with their parents as role models, I bet they will grow up and do alot of good in the world.

Why is she acting like such a strange political tease? This isn't a seduction, this is an election. I would respect her more if she said she would vote for McCain, but this is ridiculous.

I hope the Jolie-Pitt family is ordering Ojamas for Christmas, not just for Maddox, Zahara, and Pax but for everyone in their extended famlies. http://www.ojamas.us.

Hello to all commentators,

All the commercials, pundits, gaffes, personal attacks, and the MSM will not dictate the outcome of this election. THE GROUND GAME IS WHERE ELECTIONS ARE WON, AND LOST!

Before you go to the next left leaning article to comment on, or right leaning article to start an argument with a repug (which will no doubt end with them calling you an unpatriotic socialist wimp) I suggest that you get in the game.

Please visit my personal fundraising page below:

If you cannot afford to donate money there are many other ways to help below :

Take a look. It is a lot of fun, and very satisfying to get involved. You will really feel as though you are making a difference.

Thanks Craig

Dear Craig --

Why would you be trying to raise money for this campaign on your own website? This makes no sense to me and seems suspicious. People, if you wish to donate to the Obama-Biden campaign, please do it via the official campaign website: https://donate.barackobama.com/page/contribute/splashd1. Thanks.

Nobody really cares who Angelina votes for. Seriously, I respect the Jolie-Pitts' efforts around the world and them adopting the United Nations, but other than that they are both pretty weird and overhyped.

Weird? Are you kidding? Ever watched Americas Most Wanted? Typical of people to slam those who do better than the rest of us (and who look better than the rest of us).

Ehrmmm....no they are in fact weird and saying so doesn't mean one is slamming "those who do better than the rest of us etc...."

With all the stuff going on in the world these two insist on being front and center and they frankly are not very talented or particularly smart...their money is great and the fact that they use it for the greater good is awesome...but lots of people are doing good for others and not demanding to have a magazine spread each time they give birth/adopt. It is weird. They are tiresome and the public's obsession with B & A can only reflect poorly on their own life.

Excuse me but I don't need Angelina Jolie to validate the fact that Obama would be a great president. Seriously her family isn't the only one that he can/will fill the needs of. I find it out-right self indulgent of her to think that her vote or approval matters any more than anyone else's.

Somebody's been drinking from the bottle with the wrong name on it. Obama is the juice. Angelina can only hope to carry the water for him. Since I'm sure he doesn't want to share a family with her, she can vote for him like everyone else and let that be that. He really doesn't need her approval to win this election, she should drop the self importance role. It's become tiresome.

I have respect for the things she does for charity - but get a clue - not a reason to vote for him? Is she that stupid?

Who cares what Jolie thinks. She is a high school drop-out actress. She took on humanitarian causes upon the advice of her highly paid public relations team. Why? To distract from the fact that she homewrecked the marriage of America's sweetheart. Does anyone ever question the fact that she announces every donation she makes? So far, she has received $26 million (that we know of) from selling photos of her kids. That money went to her "foundation." All that money is earning money. There is no way in the world that she and Pitt have given a fraction of that money to charity. They are big Hollywood phonies.

Jolie doesn't have and never has had a publicist. She chose humanitarian work after doing the first Tomb Raider movie in Cambodia. Same place where she adopted her son Maddox. All money from her children's photos have gone to charity. Shiloh's photo proceeds went to Namibia hospitals and health care. She and Brad have been in New Orleans working to clean up after Katrina. Both donated about $1 million to help with rebuilding homes for those who lost everything.

She may not call her publicists "publicists" but that's exactly what they are, i.e., Holly Goline, her "personal assistant" whom previously worked in the media. Also, Brad Pitt's former publicist helped orchestrate the whole humanitarian schtick after the Aniston break-up. Let's see proof that all the baby photo money went to charity. I won't hold my breath. Every time Brangelina have a movie to promote, they pose with their kids and make a VERY brief stop in New Orleans. Can't fool all the people....

Keep up the non/barely endorsements Angelina, you losing your fan bases. I thought alot of you but this twisting and turning speaks alot about your character. Times are hard, no one has time to beg you or figure out if you're for either candidate. All the good you have done around the world will be forgotten which Obama is proudly involved in those same issues that concern you too. Or is this about the media bashing your father for supporting McCain? I guess you're speaking to your father again. I'm even amazed that Clint Eastwood is republican (many minorities grew up loving this man), but I know he directed your upcoming movie, Changline.......hmm

There you have it. Angelina speaks so we don't have to think about who would be the best to serve as president. A woman who seems to need a man to validate her is so busy being a saint that I'm surprised she had time for such a worldly discussion.

It's kind of weird, she has a good heart and she care about others in need but isn't she an atheist?

The two are not dependent on each other.
1. A good heart and humanitarianism
2. Atheism
I know of plenty of Christians that are vile in reality and could care less about humanity, Jerry Falwell for example.

Believe it or not, "good hearts" are not exclusive to Christians. Dummy.

So Angelina has finally emerged and announced that:

"Obama is fighting for international justice, he wants to intervene militarily in genocides abroad, and he wants to close down Guantanamo Bay. They are things which could move me to vote for him, not his roots. Of course, an American president like Barack Obama would be great for my family.
But that isn't "reason enough to vote for him."

How wonderful and in the German edition of Vanity Fair. I think her 'heart' belong to McCain. But then, I couldn't care less who she votes for. I think she is a pompous and narcissistic woman. So sue me.

I read her comments differently. I think she is on board with Obama.

"...Of course, an American president like Barack Obama would be great for my family.
But that isn't "reason enough to vote for him...."

She is saying that just because he is of mixed race that isn't enough of a reason for her to vote for him. She want to know the candidates' position and plans to address' humanitarian issues around the world.

Since her father is a McCain supporter, it is obvious that she would not vote for McCain.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:36 AM on 10/12/2008

I partially agree with you. I think that her comment "...Obama would be great for my family" might be the element to which she is referring when she says "but that isn't reason enough to vote for him". In other words, just because she may like him for her family, that should not be justification for others to vote for him, IMO.

How come she won't just say who she's voting for? What's the big deal?

Oh and her father called Obama a communist.

There is no big deal, no big deal at all. Whatever Angelina, Brad or her father does, doesn't matter one way or another in the great scheme of things. Obama will win, whether she votes or not, who cares.
