I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Angelina Jlie

Angelina Jolie won't officially endorse a candidate, despite one being actively sought from both campaigns, but she had nice words for the Democratic nominee in the the German edition of Vanity Fair:

"Obama is fighting for international justice, he wants to intervene militarily in genocides abroad, and he wants to close down Guantanamo Bay. They are things which could move me to vote for him, not his roots. Of course, an American president like Barack Obama would be great for my family."

But that isn't "reason enough to vote for him."

On being American:
"I am very proud of being American, and all my children have got American passports.

"For me, our family is just what America is - a melting pot, a mixture of many different races and nations," she says. "My children should be proud of their Asian and African roots, but that in no way means [is] a lack of respect for the fact that they and their parents are Americans."

On having twins:

"It's a damned arduous business, and we are often simply whacked out because it is twice as hard with two babies as with one.

"But it also makes for double the fun. After we flew back from Europe, we were all suffering a bit from jetlag. We were all in bed early, but at half past four, they were awake and making a real racket.

"Brad took care of them. He said to me, 'Go back to sleep, you're back to work in the morning,' and moved into the kids' room with them. He is an astounding father, full of devotion.

"Every three hours they get hungry, then I have to satisfy them. But that's OK, the two of them are totally sweet.

"When you see them, you think they were made for each other. They laugh together, they sniff each other, touch each other. It is beautiful."

On her relationship:
"Sometimes, at the end of the day, we try to retire to the bathroom to be undisturbed. But then [the kids] hear the water running and want to come in and, yet again, we are all together. But that doesn't disturb us because they are great kids."

On fame:
"I would like to have more freedom, especially to have the chance to be more spontaneous with my kids.

"Would I like to be able to walk through the streets with my kids? Of course. Would I like to be able to wander around Manhattan and buy them an ice cream like other mothers? Of course. But it is not possible.

"On the other hand, every morning I wake up with the people who are the most dear to me in the whole world. That's why I don't feel isolated from that, which is important to me. It helps, of course, that Brad knows all about it, but he's experienced it even more than me. We often talk about it and try to make the best of things. But I am very grateful for our life and everything that we have."

Jolie's father, Jon Voight, doesn't think Obama would be great for his family; he supports McCain. The fact that Jolie hasn't endorsed Obama outright makes me suspicious, although I really believe Pitt will vote for Obama.

She will vote for him.... McCain will do nothing to better anyone's lives....

She is a goodwill ambassador... trying to help those affected by nasty wars all across the globe....McCain just want to start a couple more!

Sorry guyz but I do believe Obama would benefit more from a Jolie/Pitt endorsement 3-4 days before the election - otherwise 27 days from now? it'll have less clout and Angie's followers are more apt to remember before going into the voting booth - that is if their able to use a machine that functions properly?

"But that isn't "reason enough to vote for him'"???? I beg to differ. It is ALL the reason to vote for him. I consider this couple irrelevant if they can't come out and endorse a candidate.

Why? Because you DON'T Think that way? One of the prime arguments from Senator Obama is that we should learn to agree to respectfully disagree. She has her own system of deciding whom she will vote for ...She is allowed that perogative as we all are. I am an Obama fan and I don't have a problem with her having a CHOICE and making it her way!

Don't be disrespectful. Everybody has a choice to vote for whomever they want to; they also have a choice to take as long as they want to to make their decision.

It's pretty obvious isn't it?!? They don't want to offend half of the movie-going public. These two are far more concerned about their wallets and their lavish lifestyle than the survival of our country.

Who cares what Jolie thinks. She is a hypocrite. Her two adopted children were not orphans, but came from poor families under fraudulent pretenses:

http://www.theage.com.au/articles/2004/01/08/1073437411857.html
Lauryn Galindo has been indicted in the US over allegations that she arranged adoptions of children who were not orphans, and paid poor Cambodian women to give up their babies for American couples. The case has renewed doubts about the legitimacy of the adoption...[of] Jolie's son Maddox...Cambodian child welfare workers told The Age they believed Maddox had been sold by his poverty-stricken mother for $100. Jolie had hired a team of lawyers to fight any attempt by US authorities to return Maddox to Cambodia.

http://www.popcrunch.com/zahara-jolie-pitt-biological-mom-protests-angelina-jolie-adoption/
Mentewab Dawit Lebiso claims she handed over her daughter when she became “overwhelmed” but would love to be reunited with her. [Ms. Lebiso said] she never signed the papers giving up Zahara. The birth family claim they were mislead by local officials who told them they would see the baby again and keep in contact but that never happened.

Please...given Jolie's fame, don't you think if either or both of those allegations could hold up in court, don't you know every shyster lawyer in this country would be trying to represent those people? Also the family may be poor, but the government is not without resources and most look very severely on kidnaping babies under pretense of adoptions...don't believe everything you hear or read. This had come up time and again...and been refuted.

Has not been refuted. Jolie is rich enough to pay off the right people. It doesn't mean that the families of those children aren't in total pain at losing their loved one. Sickening.

That's a lie and you know it 'Postarella". Were all of the other hundreds of families Galindo hooked up with babies also nefarious?

Zahara's grandmother swore before the local officials that the babies parents were dead. Angelina didn't go pick out Zahara like Madonna picked out David. Zahara was selected for AJ after she was approved to adopt a baby girl.AJ was told the baby's parents had died of AIDS. I've never seen anything about Zahara's relatives wanting her back. The last time her "mother" was found by tabloid writers and paid to talk with them, she said she didn't want Zahara to leave AJ and come back to her, she had just come forward because the writers said there was money to be had.

Thanks so much for FINALLY endorsing a candidate who can save the world as we once knew it. Jeez! Thought you'd never wake up and come to the party.

Obama/Biden'08.

I think it's silly that Jolie & Pitt won't just endorse Barack Obama. In this interview, Jolie gives the distinct impression that she's leaning towards him on a number of issues that concern her as a UN ambassador ... but she won't commit 100% with only a month before the general election. Barack Obama has been very forthcoming about his offered programs, policies & even values ... so what more does Angelina Jolie need to know before giving him the green light?

Angie, honey, Obie is going to tax you and that hairpiece you hang out with into oblivion. But I guess that does not matter cause that will just be chump change for you.

And why shouldn't those who have more pay their fair share? And don't tell me the more you make, the more taxes you pay . . . loopholes for the wealthy abound, and they can afford to find ways of not paying what they truly owe.

I LOVE you Angelina (& Brad) BUT the stakes are pretty high this election - not only because of the economic crisis but because of the divisiveness being hurled as "American" &/or "patriotic" behavior. Accusing someone of being a terrorist or condescendingly "dismissing" someone of color (with an aging little shaky white finger) DISGUSTS ME.

WE KNOW YOU DO GOOD WORK & that you care about all children. Racism, bigotry, & the far, far, far right 3rd Wave Movement are frightening many, many people -- in particular the threats & the name calling apparently supported by McCain & Palin (so far right even the Assembly of God divorced itself from Palin's long-time Pentecostal church).

What kind of world will this be if people like you both -- who have the resources & the stature to take a stand - don't? WE NEED ALL TOLERANT, COMPASSIONATE, HUMANISTIC CELEBRITIES TO HELP US TAKE A STAND. This new "McCarthy-like" approach has to be confronted & stopped & we can't do it without the help of wealthy, influential people from celebrities to politicians. HELP US MAKE THIS WORLD A BETTER PLACE. TAKE A STAND!!!! And god bless you & your family.

Jolie is quite unconventional for her choices. She says what's in her mind, and she takes the blows and criticism that comes with it. At the same time, she's very conventional for honoring motherhood, her children and the man she loves.

That to me, says it all about Jolie. She has millions of fans worldwide, including millions of war refugees who, without her were bound to die. She is the most respected celebrity in the whole wide world. I wish her and family the best.

I will leave her enemies to create, spin and lie and to those who feel the need to disparage her. To me, chaos serves no purpose. I do believe there are angels watching over her, and maybe, she does not need to defend herself.

Angelina is a humanitarian actress. She uses her celebrity to shed light on the poor and oppressed. I respect her for this but more importantly, Jesus said, " Whatever you do for the least of me, you do for me." So Angelina and Brad are more Christain than Bush and Cheney.

It is soooooooo obvious she's going to vote for Obama. She's never endorsed a candidate before and always said she was bipartisan because of her UN job and having to work with both parties. So maybe she feels that outrightly coming out and supporting one candidate would be harmful to her work with the UN. It's so telling though that last week she did an interview and when asked about McCain, after spouting off about how she was still undecided (which I don't believe for one second) she instead said this about Biden. "There are many things about Joe Biden which I very much like, I was very happy to hear him speak so well during the debate, he is a very intelligent man but I listen to everyone and I think that’s important to do". http://daily.chictoday.com/2008/10/05/ange...geling-premier/

So, recently, she's praised both Obama and Biden and said nothing about McCain or Sarah Palin.

Yes, it is so obvious that she is a Obama supporter (she is a decent person), and I was wondering why she was not being forthcoming about it; but the point you bring up about her UN work is very plausible.

Why would her children not have American passports? Are they not Americans?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 05:51 PM on 10/10/2008

Probably not....none of them are American born which I think was done on purpose!

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 06:32 PM on 10/10/2008

Anyone born to American citizens are American citizens, no matter where the child is born - U.S. soil, U.S. territory, or foreign country - hence the American passports. How come nobody complains about Johnny Depp, were his 2 kids born in the U.S.A.?

And why are some people always accusing the Jolie Pitts of being unAmerican? Don't you know about the $5 million dollars to build 150 safe, affordable, sustainable houses in New Orleans (giving jobs to American citizens)? What, Louisiana isn't part of the U.S. anymore?

What about the half million dollars donated to counsel children of the military to cope with the parent's death or long-term absence? The general in charge of the Armed Forces YMCA was very grateful to the Jolie Pitts. Are they not part of America?

What about the $150,000 matching grant to feed and clothe Ozark children - are they not part of America either?

And are we Americans now so selfish, stingy and shriveled in our souls that we begrudge the millions the Jolie Pitts donate to *LITERALLY* save lives from death – just because they don’t live within our borders? We begrudge the hundreds of thousands of women and children tents for shelter against the sun, rains and freezing winters, medicines to save their lives, food, water, and school for the children. We begrudge the displaced fleeing from wars (including ones we started), earthquakes and other acts of nature?

What have *you* done for America lately?
