Former Republican Governor of Michigan William Milliken tells the Grand Rapids Press that he's "disappointed" in John McCain and the campaign he is running:

He endorsed John McCain in the presidential primary, but now former Republican Gov. William Milliken is expressing doubts about his party's nominee.

"He is not the McCain I endorsed," said Milliken, reached at his Traverse City home Thursday. "He keeps saying, 'Who is Barack Obama?' I would ask the question, 'Who is John McCain?' because his campaign has become rather disappointing to me.

"I'm disappointed in the tenor and the personal attacks on the part of the McCain campaign, when he ought to be talking about the issues."

Well, Sen, this is what happens when a candidate does not put his country first.

For some people America is the haves and the have mores and the rest of us are tolerated residents.

Which explains why it is so easy to decide in favor of no bid billion dollar contracts for Halliburton rather than adequate equipment and supplies for our troops.

Hey Gov, the best thing you can do to show your outrage is to UN-endorse McBush. He is tearing our country apart with his hate-filled rallies.

So what happens to McCain and Lieberman if we end up having a President Obama (God, I hope so)?

Nothing really. They'll still be members of the Senate. Although Lieberman's status may be greatly reduced if the dems pick up some additional seats.

I know that but legislatively it will be hard for them to get Obama to sign anything. I am sure Obama will remember. I know Harry Reid already put Liberman on notice of what's going to happen to him after the election.

then, sir, you should take back your endorsement
it has been said "the McCain of 2000 would not vote for the Mccain of 2008"

Take it a step further gov! Denounce, repudiate, un-endorse.

If anyone wants or expects the Republican party to survive this horrific candidacy, the decent members MUST stand up.

Yes!!!!

And if there were ever a reason for Colin Powell to get off the fence and endorse Barack Obama, this is it!!!

I would LOVE that! I really like Colin Powell and would love to see him in another role to lead our country in the RIGHT DIRECTION.

This whole thing is frightening beyond belief. Think about this people, what would it be like to have a man like McCain as President, dividing the country and inciting Americans against one another. How could we, as a people, even survive such an ugly fate?

Years ago Republican and Democrats in the House and Senate were the best of friends. They knew that they were there to do the best for the people of this country. They had their differences, but at the end of the day they would go have a drink and eat dinner together. Sadly, that does not exist much anymore. I must say that most of this polirization comes from the right. They have pigeonholed themselves as a tool for most conservative aspects in this country. It's not let's create legislation for the betterment of our country. It's we must impose our will and ideology no matter what.

I am glad to hear Lincoln Chaffee is supporting Obama. I would love to see many more influential Republicans step forward and say that this has end right now! I think many of them are afraid to step forward because of the flack they will get from people like Hannity, O'Reilly etc...

The John Mccain we see today is the real one. The John Mccain of 2000 was an act.

So Gov. Milliken, as they say "Money Talks, Bull$hit Walks". Where are you putting your money? McCain doesn't need his wrist slapped, he needs a swift kick in the butt!

Thank you Governor. I realize that not every Republican thinks the way McCain thinks or the way Palin thinks. There are too many good people in the world t have a small minority of people lead us to believe that this is what our country has become. I hope the people who are screaming all the hatred and bigtory on television are identified for what they are, nothing but a bunch of cowards. They are the ones dumbing down this country.

I don't know if the republicans know what they are getting themselves into.
I was born in a third world country and have seen political incited violence by politicians. It diminishes the stature of the country and its democracy. Who knows what some of these radicals are capable of doing if the republicans lose the election.

I didn't think McCain could stoop that low.

And more frightening yet, what would this mob be capible of if McCain does scab his way into the Presidency?

Sorry Governor Milliken.

Yes he's exactly the guy you endorsed.

He didn't fall from grace.

He's always been a hypocrite.
