Obama Listed As "Barack Osama" On Some New York Ballots

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's last name is spelled "Osama" on hundreds of absentee ballots mailed out this week to voters in Rensselaer County.

The misspelling, which elections officials on both sides of the aisle insist was simply a typo, is causing embarrassment for the county.

Please everyone look at your keyboard. I mean remove your fingers and actually look. Where is the B, and where is the S. There is now way this was an accidental typing error, or anything of that nature. I could see that happening if the two letters were next to each other as in above, below, to the right or left of the other. But this is not the case. The explaination that this was a typographical error is just that BS, and not a confussion between the two keys as they are too far apart to make that a viable excuse.

Try it in MS word and do a spell check you will see it suggests Osama for Obama, unless you add Obama to your custom dictionary.

Hey, I am a trusting sort and am willing to accept some pretty ludicrous excuses, but I don't believe this was a mistake. Not only were three people responsible for proof reading, someone was responsible for typing the ballot up, and someone else handles the ballots as they are mailed out.

Thanks for trying to cheer me up, ArmyC. I usually feel pretty hopeful until I start reading about all the ugly things going on and learning that there are so many hateful people in our country. What is even worse is that recent report that human evolution has come to a stopping point. If this is as good as its ever gonna get, that makes me sad. This is about something that happened after THREE people checked the ballot for typos? I am surprised that with the sensitive nature of all of the issues around the names this was let go by. Three people would have three sets of eyes and I rfuse to believe three people would not catch this.

someone ought to be fired for this....no way did this get checked by 3 people and its an accident....no way.
But did they think they could get away with it? (obviously they did) The ballots should be reprinted and costs charged to the department that made the "typo"
