ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — U.S. missile attacks on suspected militants in Pakistan's northwest near Afghanistan are undermining the war on terror and "helping the terrorists," the Muslim nation's Foreign Ministry said Friday.

The comments came as a suicide bomber attacked an anti-insurgent group in a northwest tribal area, killing at least 22 and wounding around 100 people. The Orakzai area tribesmen had gathered to plan the demolition of a militant base.

Al-Qaida and Taliban fighters have established bases throughout Pakistan's semiautonomous tribal regions, where they are said to plan attacks on U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan as well violence in Pakistan.

Washington has pushed Pakistan to eliminate such insurgent sanctuaries.

Pakistan has carried out military offensives against insurgents while also trying to woo various tribes to turn against the extremists. Some pro-government tribes have set up militias to fight insurgents.

But in a sign of U.S. impatience with Pakistani efforts, American forces have stepped up their own cross-border assaults on alleged militant targets.

The U.S. is suspected in at least 11 missile strikes on the Pakistan side of the Afghan border since mid-August, killing more than 100 people, most of them alleged militants, according to an Associated Press count based on figures provided by Pakistan intelligence officials.

The United States rarely confirms or denies the attacks, which Pakistan's military and civilian leaders have criticized as violations of the country's sovereignty.

"We want them (the United States) to realize that these attacks are destabilizing the situation, and they are not helping them or Pakistan," Pakistan foreign ministry spokesman Mohammed Sadiq told The AP. "They are helping the terrorists."

The strikes are unpopular among many Pakistanis and used by critics and Muslim conservatives to rally support in their campaign to unseat the country's broadly secular, pro-U.S. government.

The most recent alleged U.S. attack took place late Thursday in North Waziristan and killed at least nine people, between six and eight of them suspected foreign militants, intelligence officials said. They said they were trying to establish the identities of the victims.

The tribal regions also are considered potential hiding places for al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden, his deputy Ayman al-Zawahri and other non-Pakistani militants.

Friday's suicide attack occurred in Orakzai, a tribal region near the main northwest city of Peshawar that has been relatively peaceful.

Some 500 people of the Alikhel tribe, which has set up a militia to fight insurgents, were gathered when the attacker struck. The tribesmen intended to destroy a major militant base, said Sher Akbar Khan, a government official.

"Initial reports suggest that the suicide bomber rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into the gathering," Khan said.

He said 17 people died at the scene or at a nearby hospital. Walayat Khan, an official at another hospital nearby, said five people died there. A senior government official, Kamran Zeb Kahn, said around 100 people were wounded in the blast, many of them critically.

Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani condemned the suicide attack in a statement.

Also Friday, government official Jamil Ahmad accused militants of beheading four pro-government tribal elders Thursday in Bajur tribal region, the scene of the some of the heaviest fighting between Pakistani troops and insurgents.

Pakistani tribesmen are raising armies to battle al-Qaida and Taliban militants close to the Afghan border — a movement encouraged by the military and hailed as a sign its offensive there is succeeding." NATO forces carried out airstrikes-- 62 insurgents bit the dust. Separately, about 40 militants were put down in fighting in Helmand province. A Taliban commander who led the assault, Mullah Qadratullah, was also put down.

The closest US forces got to public enemy #1 was just weeks after Bush's Bin Laden "Dead Or Alive" ultimatum.

America's top secret Delta Force was dispatched to Tora Bora. The CIA said it had hard intelligence that Bin Laden was hiding out there in a cave complex. Delta Force soldiers coordinated there with CIA operatives, British Commandos, Green Beret, and Afghan fighters to stalk their target.

Delta Force was DENIED permission to attack Bin Laden's cave They were within 2,000 meters of Bin Laden, only to pull back from an assault ... in favor of air strikes.

The air strikes were CALLED OFF ... allowing Bin Laden to ESCAPE!!!

Just four months after their operation, the man who was Chairman Of The Joint Chiefs at the time, General Richard Meyers, said getting Bin Laden was NEVER the goal.

Apparently not ALL "Al-Qaeda" have relocated from Iraq to Afghanistan, yet. Or perhaps they have. Perhaps this latest BAGHDAD BOMBING is the US PAID "former" insurgents "awakening" to the FACT that they've been F**KED by OUR dictator government and THEIR "fledgling democratic" government.

Hey McCain/Palin ... there's still work to be done with the "working" surge. Perhaps you two could suspend your campaign and get 'er done ... so we will have "won"!

We have LOST Afghanistan ALSO because of BUSH/MCBUSH!

Get our troops OUT of BOTH countries. Wait for ACTIONABLE INTELLIGENCE, drag OSAMA BIN LADEN out of his SAFE HAVEN in PAKISTAN ... string him up ... and call it

During the Vietnam war the USA did not attack (except 1 time) neighboring Cambodia. The Bush gang attacks anyone anywhere. This does not come without a price.

USA is set up to take responsibility for every attack on Pakistan soil, whether we do it or not.

This, I believe, is the result of the lack of trust generated by the Bush administration and the Pakistan people.

Note to the administration: an allegation does not a militant make. These people sell info on their traditional rivals, and we knock them off, thus crearting more enimies. Unless you know for sure...don't bomb.

PAKISTAN TRIBES ATTACK TALIBAN Tribal volunteers in Pakistan have threatened to destroy the house of Mullah Omar. The volunteers surrounded Omar's house on Monday and also said that the homes of other Taliban supporters would be targeted. The threats are part of a crackdown on the Taliban some tribes people are launching in the Bajaur Agency. The volunteers' commander says they have 20,000 men ready to carry out the campaign and that they are not asking for any government help. Mullah Omar's representatives were keen to stress the reclusive cleric is no longer allied to Al Qaeda.
Taliban leaders are holding Saudi-brokered talks with the Afghan government to end the country's bloody conflict -- and are severing their ties with al Qaeda."
Nothing like defeat to get the mullahs to negotiate ( beg for their lives).

THE PENTAGON TEAM OF HOGANS HERO'S

The explanations from the (US/MIC) United States Military Industrial Complex is aways the same non answer responses; (1) I have no information on any alleged strike, (2) I've checked into that and find it to be a spurious report, it did not happen. I've checked all the places that would know about something like that and it doesn't appear to be accurate. (3) a half-page of very vague information, (4) There was no such incursion, there was no such event, (5) blame the injured party comment, Troubling, It would be fairly hard to mistake a helicopter flying in that region as anything but (ISAF) or U.S. It would be hard to mistake a helicopter flying in that region as anything but (ISAF) or (U.S.), Only Pakistan can articulate their intent. (6) No Comment, by the usual cast of Pentagon “Hogan’s Hero’s spokesman characters; Colonel Gary l. Keck, Eileen Lainez, or Bryan Whitman. U.S. rarely acknowledges such missile strikes. “I KNOW NOTHING”

The republicans always say that government is the "problem". They only want power and control for purposes of pilfering the US treasury for their greed and profit, and then the government becomes a real problem. They always are warmongering but have no idea on how to conduct war. The phony war in Iraq proved there was no real planning, strategy, tactics, sufficient logistics and no exit. The "surge" was nothing more than a coverup for the fact that not enough troops were sent there in the beginning for the puropose of crowd control of 20 million angry, sectarian Iraqis. Afghanistan was the central mission after 9/11, but Bush and the Pentagon bungled that and now we are fighting in a second front and no more idea on what to do than we did in Iraq.

If there is actionable intelligence as to the whereabouts of Bin Laden or al-Zawahri and Pakistan is unable or unwilling to take them out, we should act. If Pakistan is truly on our side, they would applaud the action. If not, they are taking our money and playing us for fools.
