ANCHORAGE, Alaska — A judge has ordered the state of Alaska to preserve any government-related e-mails that Gov. Sarah Palin sent from private accounts.

Anchorage Superior Court Judge Craig Stowers ruled Friday in the lawsuit brought by Anchorage resident Andree McLeod against Palin, the Republican vice presidential nominee.

Palin has occasionally used private e-mail accounts to conduct state business, and her Yahoo accounts were hacked last month. The hacking of Palin's private account was significant because it showed that using private e-mail accounts to conduct state business would be vulnerable to being exposed.

It wasn't widely known that the governor and her staff were using private e-mail accounts until McLeod filed the first of several open records requests earlier this year that yielded some of the e-mail traffic _ much of it redacted for what were deemed privacy reasons.

The judge ordered the attorney general to contact Yahoo and other private carriers to preserve any e-mails sent and received on those accounts. If the e-mails were destroyed when the accounts were deactivated, he directed state officials to have the companies attempt to resurrect the e-mails.

"We shouldn't be in a position where public records have been lost because the governor didn't do what every other state employee knows to do, which is to use an official, secure state e-mail account to conduct state business," McLeod said after the 90-minute hearing.

"It's a dereliction of the governor and her duties," she said.

Assistant Attorney General Mike Mitchell told the court that the governor is no longer using private e-mail to conduct state business.

Stowers ordered e-mails of Palin's staff members who used private accounts to be preserved, as well. Mitchell was unsure if these other employees had also stopped using the private accounts.

Palin's e-mail account with Yahoo Inc. was compromised last month by a hacker who revealed as evidence a few inconsequential personal messages she has received since John McCain selected her as his running mate.

Palin used "gov.sarah" in one of the Yahoo e-mail addresses she sometimes used to conduct state business. The hacker targeted her separate "gov.palin" account. Both have been shut down.

It is an impeachable offense, but NOT a "criminal" offense because it was a "public trust" violation. Just like Bush/Cheney, chances are that NO impeachment hearings will take place simply because the Republicans run their legislative branch in a 14-5 majority.

The logic works. A) We can't trust Palin, B) Palin tells us not to trust Obama. THEREFORE: We can trust Obama.

As a former spectacle-wearer (no longer thanks to LASIK), I wonder if Palin's glasses are prescription glasses at all. If you have any prescription, you are bound to see smaller or a bigger images through the lenses. I do not see any evidence of it. I wonder if Palin is wearing the glasses to give herself the appearance of maybe being more intelligent than she really is?

Yes, I believe that is what happened when she was running for governor: An image consultant was hired to style Palin, giving her the upswept hairdo and glasses, 'librarian style,' to convey intelligence, the ability to focus, and an air of authority/reliability.
That info came out some time ago...

I googled and found an opticians' website where it is analyzed that Sarah Palin's glasses are vanity glasses. Link:

What a phony.

Doesn't matter, Rove and his techies from Ohio/Tennessee will have scrubbed her private and public accounts. Just like is being done with Cheney's, Bush's, etc.

Supposedly, he needed to be present to help care for Trig, while she had meetings in her office / make-shift nursery. Odd that he couldn't take the baby into another room when these meetings took place...
Which begs yet another question... If Todd is the main care-giver for Trig while Sarah is "working", why don't they ever show him holding Trig??
You always just see him being held by the other Palin children, or by Sarah herself.

I should have added

(d) If the personnel board finds a violation of this chapter by a public officer removable from office only by impeachment, it shall file a report with the president of the Senate, with its finding. The report must contain a statement of the facts alleged to constitute the violation.

I was looking at the Penalties imposable for Sarah Palin's crime and this is what I see - perhaps others will have a better understanding

AS 39.52.440. Civil Penalties.

The personnel board may impose on a current or former public officer civil penalties not to exceed $5,000 for a violation of this chapter. A penalty imposed under this section is in addition to and not instead of any other penalty that may be imposed according to law.

AS 39.52.460. Criminal Sanctions Additional.

To the extent that violations under this chapter are punishable in a criminal action, that sanction is in addition to the civil remedies set out in this chapter.

AS 39.52.410. Violations; Penalties For Misconduct.

(a) If the personnel board determines that a public employee has violated this chapter, it

(1) shall order the employee to stop engaging in any official action related to the violation;

(2) may order divestiture, establishment of a blind trust, restitution, or forfeiture; and

(3) may recommend that the employee's agency take disciplinary action, including dismissal.

That's what will definitely make her ineligible I hope to run for office because she would have a "civil" record against her. Oh, will somebody tell me I'm right, please?
