Palin Rape Kit Controversy: New Evidence (VIDEO)

The Wasilla Project covers the Sarah Palin rape kit controversy, interviewing several Alaskans who add to the case that she knew of the policy of charging victims for their own rape kits. Eric Croft, the Democratic lawmaker who worked to overturned the practice, says its hard to believe Palin didn't know about it. Dr. Colleen Murphy, a former member of the Alaska Violent Crimes Compensation Board, says she was approached by rape victims who had been charged for their exams. Wasilla Project points out that while Palin said that it would be "crazy" to charge rape victims for their forensic exams, she never denied that her hometown did so while she was mayor. A Wasilla City Council member (once a Republican, now an independent) wonders why Palin's mayoral administration couldn't cover the cost of rape kits when, according to reports, she redecorated her office several times. She said she is an open book and welcomed the investigation into her abuse of power charges and yet she has refused to talk to investigators. They offered to meet with her while she in on the campaign trail in any town anywhere and yet she has refused.

I think Sara Palin should be revealed of who she really is instead of her shouting Terriost accusations about Obama. This is important to ALL Americans. I know my husband would want his daughter, sisters, mother and nieces not to have to go through this kind of thing. Adding insult to injury doesn't even come close to cover the hurt and humiliation these women must have gone through. Well, it is plainly obvious why the McCain campaign has kept Palin sequestered from anyone but right-leaning media and whistle stops in front of the rabid right-wing base. This is a question that Palin and the McCain campaign must come clean on. She must show irrefutable evidence that rape victims, nor their insurers were charged for rape kits while she was mayor.

If they were, and she was aware of it, she is an inhuman monster deserving to never hold office in this great nation ever again. If she wasn't aware of it, she was incompetent as mayor, and needs to take responsibility for letting down the most vulnerable of her constituents by ending her participation in the McCain campaign, and resigning as Governor of Alaska.

This atrocity demonstrates an abject failure of judgement and character. It doesn't matter if Palin personally feels that abortion is wrong, and that tax dollars shouldn't be used to provide the morning-after pill in the rape kit, its availability is the law of the land, and if Palin feels she is above the law of the land, she is no better than Bush/Cheney and we can't afford 4 more years of fiscal and social mismanagement.

Mr. McCain, you have been weighed in the balances and your time is up. The decisions you have made regarding your campaign have been without regard to the American people. You have put yourself first and country last. Your once respected campaign rallies have now become hate rallies. You have allowed Sarah Palin to hi-jack your campaign rallies and turn them into forums for hate. This has opened the old wounds of racism and fear that continues to plaque the south. The south is one part of the country where you are above 50% in the polls. You nor your running mate are talking about real issues for the American people. The more you push division and hate you will be pushed down in the polls. The hands of God will not let you pass. The American people in this time of our history are not looking for messages filled with hate.
