Veteran Republican Congressman Ray LaHood criticized his party's vice presidential nominee Friday, saying that Sarah Palin's vitriolic campaign rallies ""don't befit the office she's running for."

Rep. LaHood, who has represented Illinois' 18th district for seven terms and is retiring in January, told WBBM Radio that Palin should control the racially-charged heckling at her rallies:

"Look it. This doesn't befit the office that she's running for. And frankly, people don't like it."

Some of the names Obama is being called, which include "terrorist" and "traitor," "certainly don't reflect the nature of the man," LaHood said to WBBM.

LaHood supports John McCain's candidacy, but warned that the heckling could backfire on the Republican ticket.

Like duh, he is still supporting him knowing Palin is a heartbeat away from presidency and she is doing this kind of stuff. He knows McCain has let her loose to do this? Go figure.

McCain is playing with fire and he will do so until someone will get burned. It is disapointing to say the least. Talk about your record, the issues, the different economic plans, healthcare etc. . Inciting violence is not OK. It is irresponsible. People are angry and frustrated about the economic situation. The country is going through serious times and the anger some people feel can be aimed towards the wrong person. It is scary, specially when I see how some people are reacting at this rallies. It is very, very dangerous.

Words to live by.....

“A lot of people are apathetic about campaigns because you see a lot of the garbage that goes on in campaigns and the personal attacks and the character assassinations that are so unnecessary,” she said. “They’re useless; they detract from the issues.” Sarah Palin, Fairbanks Daily News Miner Editorial Board Interview, 2006

Sarah Palin really said this???!!!

She couldn't have said that. The sentence structure is too good. Who is the real SP? Why does she bring poor English to the lower 48?

Palin needs to quit watching Evita for political inspiration. The first time she breaks into song or throws money out of a train, I am calling foul.

Even members of their own party feel the need to heave over the slimy gutter politics of McCain/Palin.

The American political scene has hit a new low with Sarah Palin. I don't remember a time when anyone was running for prez and veep that was this low class and vitriolic. She embodies the very worst of 'Joe Sixpack' mentality with its tunnel vision. John McCain can kiss any standards he professed to have, 'good bye'. His 'honor' is in shreds and if there is justice in the world, he will spend his old age in isolation having lost his decency in order to gain a temporary run of power.

I just finished emailing Mitch McConnell, Elizabeth Dole, and Richard Burr regarding the timbre of the McCain/Palin rallies. I requested that they tell McCain/Palin to reprimand those at their rallies that are yelling out "traitor", "treason", "kill him", etc. I reminded them that these things are being screamed about a US Senator who is running for the President of the US. I also plan to send an email to the RNC. If your senators are not Republicans...contact them anyway, but be sure to contact McConnell as the head of Republican party in the Senate.

I would like to request those of you that are disgusted by this behavior contact your Senators, McConnell, and the RNC also. It may not do any good, but at least you will have made your displeasure known. Also their is power in numbers, so if enuf of us do this they can't deny having heard us. I don't think contacting the McCain camp will do any good because, frankly I think McCain/Palin like it...see how they smile. Plus if your Senator is running for reelection this year (like Dole), it wouldn't hurt to remind them that you are a constituent.
