Geez people - it's not about the gun (which IS bad in my mind) or the photography (which is very nice) or the political aspects of shooting things (it's so NOT political). It's about using food. Got it? Food. Why not use something other than food? It's just plain insensitive to use food for art when people don't have enough to eat.
What is it with human fascination with destruction? 4 out 5 of these images involve destroying something.
great photos
I don't think these are in any way great. I find them banal. do try the JEVER beer, a treat.
Wow, so many negative comments about the destructive nature of these photos...
Yes, some of the photos are things being shot. Yes, republicans enjoy shooting guns. No, that doesn't mean these photos are some kind of right-wing propaganda. I mean, COME ON PEOPLE; get your head on straight. Critical thinking means you don't believe the first thing that pops into your head!
Have any of you seen time-lapse photography of plants growing and flowers blooming? You ever wonder why those are dominant themes for time-lapse photography? It's because those things happen very slowly. They happen so slowly our eyes cannot see what's happening.
Ask yourself this: why did they use high speed photography to show explosions and things being shot? The answer you should have came up with: because those things happen very quickly. They happen so quickly that our eyes cannot see what's happening. NOT because the photographers are right wing, gun toting, wacko nut-cases.
I just believe the food pictures are really gross looking.... : > )
I'm definitely a social liberal, and I feel that guns are fine- when in the hands of mentally STABLE individuals. Everyone should be prepared to protect loved ones and themselves- a self defense course, baseball bat, taser, gun, etc...Basically, whatever you need to do, should you need to. The key is to rationally know when to act and accept culpability for the damage that you can cause.
I have no regard for anyone who violates another with undeserving malice, thus becomes foolish enough to fall victim to the sword they first cast. So be, whatever...
Well, on a lighter note...lol
I agree with you about the photography. A gunshot is a very effective way to capture those particular type of shots.
Boooriiing
Ok, the level of technical knowhow etc. going in to these pics are probably very high and very impressive. But the "art" part is just boring. With the exception of the water droplets, what's so fascinating with looking at stuff being blown to pieces?
I'd say this is probably the perfect "art" for your average gun-loving republican
Interesting, but not as cool as Letterman dropping stuff off of roofs of buildings.
Imagine if people applied this same level of conceptual sophistication and process understanding to actual real world problems. Something useful might actually be done to help living beings, rather than destroy things.
Very cool. As long as they don't use it on CSI ... that show grosses me out lol
Interesting, but gross....
Disgusting. Things being shot.
I was thinking the same exact thing
then you're both too serious for your own good. turn off the rage against the machine album and try something by the strokes.
Nice pictures, and while those look great, I like the ultra-high speed motion videos a tad better.

Some supercool videos there to watch, are the water balloons which is very amazing to see shaped water if only for a short time, muahahaha.
And the curious way dogs make a cup with the back of their tongue to bring the water into their mouths. Lots of amazing videos done like this still photo's.
I agree, high speed -videos- are much cooler than stills.
When I was 15 or so a fellow high school student asked me to build a timer circuit for his camera and flash. I made one in a day or two. A couple weeks later he came back with images that looked very similar to these.
All of this stuff is trivial. You go into a dark room, open the shutter, trigger the event and the flash with a delay. Done.
Why you make one? You can buy in Target
Maybe it depends upon how long ago messenger was 15! :-)
There are so many pedantic and nitpicky comments on this thread. It's not all destruction, nobody starved to death in the making of these pictures, and all you had to do was point out that there was a Harold Edgerton so everyone could go see his work. Jeez.
