Palin Hockey Game Booed

E&P reports that Sarah Palin was greeted with a chorus of boos at the Philadelphia Flyers game where she dropped the puck at the Flyers' opener:

You never know where you are gonna find a political scoop, but Lynn Zinser at her NYT hockey "Slapshot" blog just posted that Sarah Palin, in her much-ballyhooed appearance dropping the puck at the Philly Flyers' opener, was greeted by "resounding (almost deafening) boos from the Flyers crowd."

The biggest problem: when Palin came out to onto the Wachovia Center ice Saturday night -- greeted by resounding (almost deafening) boos from the Flyers crowd -- the the two hockey players who had no choice but to appear with her in that photo op were turned into props in a political campaign.

I am so proud of Philadelphia, the birth place of liberty, The continental congress, the Betsy Ross myth, Ben Franklin and his kite, and now the phanatical Flyers Fans did everyone in the country a big favor by Booing the cuntreeeee Palin.
Hurray Philadelphia,, I hope the Flyers win the Stanley Cup...cause they sure yanked McCain's Cup!

Have you not heard - as of late Palin is not allowed to read the news, it might depress her.

However, I really hope that she somehow reads your post, it may just send her over the deep end.

One can hope, can't they?

I realize my statement is pretty mean; but it's the nicest thing I can say about her right now - especially someone who tried to start a race war....in America of all places.

Really -- We have the right to freedom of expression in the US. I applaud those
who expressed their displeasure. It was irresponsible to the Phillies to
allow her to do this as a candidate. Just another example of rampant exploitation of the exploitators
by each other. Bad choice by the Phillies -- but then -- its just another unregulated great American enterprise. I enjoy hockey but won't go this year because of the whole "hockey mom" marketing crap
of her candidacy and the mendacity of the sport to exploit her for PR value. Talk about a backfire.
And the kids may as well a reality check now and get some counseling so, because they are really going to need it. Espeically that pregant teenage..... Jeezzzzz.

It wasn't the Phillies, it was the Flyers. The Phillies play baseball, not hockey.

Thank you, Philadelphia fans! You've given hope that not all the country has been snowed under by Palin's fakery.

mysterygirl18, I honestly feel bad for people like with such hate in everyway these days. I could care less if you are voting for Obama or McCain, but I always thought it was cool to see a Pres/VP candidate in person regardless of who I was voting for. I didn't vote for Bill Clinton, but I got to meet him once and it was the coolest thing in the world to say I met the President.

I honestly can't believe the hate on both sides, as it now translates on the talk shows as you have a bunch of idiots on both sides yelling and screaming at each other. I can't even debate my partisan friends as my conservative friends won't say anything bad about McCain/Palin, and my liberal friends won't say anything bad about Obama/Biden. You people need to take a breath, take a step back, and get alittle more respect for each side, so we can figure out the problems of the country. If we keep yelling and screaming the whole country is going down the toilet cause nothing will get solved.
08:32 AM on 10/15/2008
Respect is something you can lose from others and Palin did just that. It has nothing to do with pure hatred like the bozos showing up at McCain/Palin redneck rallies.

In any sports arena, people boo when they are unhappy. That may not please some people, but it's a fact. When Palin chose to sling mud that incited hate and division in this country, she pi$$ed a lot of people off. Their letting her know how they feel about that is her own fault. She put herself in that position, and if she knows hocky, she knows it's not a sport for the feint of heart. Yee reap what you sow!

Hockey fans booing a hockey mom, CNN with a "no bias, no bull" campaign, voters ignoring FACTS about Obama's dealings with Rezko (which Hillary inquired about last month...guess she gave up on getting an answer for that too!), Jewish people voting for Obama even with the endorsment of Louis Farah..con. The Media saying outright that the relationship between Bill Ayres is irrelevant....what do you people think that a domestic terrorist saw in Ayres that made him say "I like this Barry fella, I am going to launch his political career with a fundraiser...even though I have never had a fundraiser for ANY other politician" AMERICA: Your last wake-up call was Sept 11, 2001........I think you have fallen asleep again!!!

I am I the only one who can see communism coming, good luck over the next 4 years....and while you're clinging to you guns and bibles have a look at Revalations (I think you are at that stage in history).

For context?

The guy who wrote that post obviously has no idea what he is talking about.

We Philadelphia fans boo two things--losers who suck and in the case of Santa when we are losing the game.

As anyone in Philly knows, Santa was booed because at the time we were losing the game. All the other people who were booed was because at the time they were sucking.

Clearly the whole "Well Santa was booed too!" line doesn't apply because Santa was booed because of the way the game was going, the Flyers game didn't even start yet so you can hardly use that excuse.

Sarah Palin was booed because she is simply a loser who sucks.

Hockey pucks are in the bag for Obama.
05:47 PM on 10/14/2008
I can speak about this subject because I was at the game, and she got about 50% cheers and 50% boos. Alot of people stood up and cheered, but there were many people booing in their seats too. I thought it was classless by the Philly fans because I would never boo any Presidential/VP candidate no matter what my party affiliation is. If I got a chance to see Obama, McCain, Biden, or Palin at an event it would be pretty cool to say I possibly saw someone who is running our country next year. I think people need to chill on their politics and get alittle more respect, for god sakes she walked out with her kids!
06:03 PM on 10/14/2008
They are Philadelphia fans, and hockey fans at that, it is far more irrational to expect them not to boo. For that reason it's her own fault that she decided to do the event and it's her fault that she decided to walk out with her kids. Any reasonable person could have seen this coming and there is no reason that she should have brought her kids out there.
12:20 AM on 10/15/2008
50% Boos and 50% cheers my arse. You seem to think that you can just lie about what took place and get away with it, like most Republicans. However, unfortunately for you and the liars in the GOP, there is something called "video with sound".

Anyone who actually watches the video with the sound on can clearly hear that the Boos outweigh the cheers and claps in both volume and length.

And speaking as a Philly fan, I am proud and think the fans at the game had every right to act the way they did. They are not the ones who tried to inject politics into the hockey game--the Flyers management did. You say that the people need to chill and have more respect?! How about the Flyers management chill with the politics and leave it out of the game?

You are obviously a blind supporter of the Republican party and criticize actions that don't agree with your politics.

Thank you my fellow Philly fans--you are the greatest.

GO PHILLIES!
