After a week of trying to portray Senator Barack Obama as a friend of terrorists who would drive the country into bankruptcy, Senator John McCain abruptly changed his tone on Friday and told voters at a town-hall-style meeting that Mr. Obama was "a decent person" and a "family man" and suggested that he would be an acceptable president should he win the White House.

But moments later, Mr. McCain, the Republican nominee, renewed his attacks on Mr. Obama for his association with the 1960s radical William Ayers and told the crowd, "Mr. Obama's political career was launched in Mr. Ayers' living room."

If how someone runs a campaign is any indication of how they would run the country, the choice this year is pretty clear. McCain: flailing, erratic, nasty campaign. Obama: cool, steady, disciplined campaign. Do the math.

Why hasn't anyone spoken out about the invocation given today in Iowa before McErratic's rally, in which the priest asked for "divine intervention" to stop Obama?

The LA Times reported this, and it sounds like a dog whistle to me to the Bible thumping wingnuts out there!

Go to any assisted living facility for the aged in America and you will found countless individuals exhibiting the same types of bad temperments, erratic behaviors and verbals blunders John McCain does. The difference is, these wonderful individuals are not foolish enough to think they can be President of our Country. Well, most of them aren't. I think we have reached a point in this process where age and temperment are trumping race.

McCain would look great in a Napoleon Bonaparte costume for Haloween.

Is it not against the law to threaten to do physical harm to a candidate? To incite a riot? Where is the secret service? I feel sorry for that African American Secret Service agent I see guarding Palin all of the time.

Does anyone know who JM's pastor is, and to what church does he attend?

McCain has associated with some real wackjob pastors like Robertson, Hagee, Parsley, etc. I've never seen any indication that McCain is a regular churchgoer, not that there's anything wrong with that.

McCain does not want to touch Rev Wright b/c he doesn't want to get into Palin's pastor/ church controversies. I've spent time googling for a good article which had a comprehensive view of the problems with Palin's religion problems to no avail but I did find this. It basically covers all the bases.

According to an article in the New Yorker, McCain has never been baptized. Meaning, of course, that he is not a christian and will burn in hell.

Meaningless actually.

Who has ever heard anything about any religious participation from McCain. We are just left to wonder. Interesting how his lack of faith has been clouded over and not given any attention. That must really be why he has never been popular with the RNC base. We know that is why they picked Palin.

Nicolle Wallace, one of Mr. McCain"s senior aides, tried to turn the tables on Mr. Obama on Friday and accuse him of denigrating the people who go to Mr. McCain and Ms. Palin"s rallies. "Broadsides against our supporters are insulting," she said. "He attacks the same people he once called bitter."(NY Times).
Um ... as I recall, Sen. Obama's "bitter" comment wasn't refering to the folks at Sen. McCain's/Gov. Palin's rallies. Those people I would put in the crazed, lynchmob category. Bitter is too light a criticism.

Is that the same Nicole Wallace that was a serial killer in a number of L&O Criminal Intent episodes?

"Words, just words!" McCain continues to attack Obama. And he will do so until all the votes are counted.

Pundits are of the belief that after Nov. 5 the media will forgive McCain for his many "errors" in this campaign. However, the media is not the only ones who go to the voting booths on election days. And I am not so sure that McCain's Arizona constituents will be so forgiving.
