Governor Sarah Palin launched a harsh, frontal attack against Barack Obama on Saturday for the Senator's position on abortion rights.

Appearing in Pennsylvania, the Alaska Republican claimed that Obama had "unconditional support for unlimited abortion," was "vague and evasive on the subject," and held extreme views when it came to life. On several occasions, she took past Obama statements and positions greatly out of context.

Speaking before a generally rowdy Saturday morning crowd, Palin eagerly resurfaced one of the Democratic nominee's most memorable rhetorical flubs from this campaign, only to twist his intent and language.

"[Obama] said that a women shouldn't be quote, punished with a baby," declared Palin.

In actuality, Obama said that he did not want his nine and six year old daughters to be "punished with a baby" should they make a mistake. "I don't want them punished with an STD at the age of 16," he added. "You know, so it doesn't make sense to not give them information."

Later in her campaign rally, Palin accused Obama of supporting partial birth abortion.

"Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan said partial birth abortion was too close to infanticide," she said. "Sen Obama thinks it is a constitutional right, but he is wrong."

Truth be told, Obama has argued on the campaign trail that, "the state can properly restrict late-term abortions," as long as there are provisions "to protect the health of the mother." In the Illinois State Senate Obama voted against a bill that would criminalize the practice of doctors performing partial birth abortions.

In the days after Tuesday's presidential debate there was some complaining among conservatives that so little of the campaign dialogue had focused on social issues. Palin's appearance on Saturday suggests that - in addition to reprising Obama's association with Bill Ayers - the McCain ticket will be renewing the cultural wars through focus on issues like abortion. For its part the crowd in Johnston, Pennsylvania, responded to the red meat the Alaska Governor provided them.

The more she talks about how she had to pray for strength to handle having a special needs child, the more I think she considered having an abortion herself. So why does she want to take away every other woman's choice?

Because she wants control...

Sarah Palin says she believes life should be protected from the moment of conception. She is not so protective of life when she is willing to continue to send young men and women to war in Iraq in pursuit of " Victory ." Or to send them to Iran, or Georgia, or wherever her sabre rattling may get us into another war.

The word Abortion is not in the bible. But the bible does say that life begins with God and it begins with God before conception. The other thing we need to realize about abortion is this: ABORTION is not the problem. It is a symptom of a bigger problem. And that problem is SEX outside of marriage. The bible says 1 Thessalonians 4:3

For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:

Sex outside of marriage is the cause of abortion. The key is SEX EDUCATION and it has to start at HOME. That makes it a matter of making the right choice in life.

When abortion is the only card you have left, you play it like it's the Ace of Spades.

What part of "PRO-CHOICE" doesn't this woman understand???

Obama would let her do anything she wants with her own body. What part of that doesn't she understand???

Obama just wants her to let every woman decide for herself what to do. Is that too hard for Governor Loony MooseLips to comprehend???

Hey Sarah, abortion is legal. LEGAL. And why don't you really prove morality by taking in some of these poor unwanted kids across the country.

Now, on another note, I am not from Johnstown but I know the area. Hey, Sarah did you look around the city? That place is drying up. There's nothing there. Industry is gone, it's turning into a ghost town. You know what, you show that you don't really care about people by not bringing things like this up.

As for those at this rally, I'm embarrassed for you. You ate this stuff up??? Are you kidding me? This woman doesn't care about you. I was at a Hillary rally in Johnstown earlier this year, I'm sure a lot of people who supported her were there, and you know what you should be ashamed- get over this unease about Barack Obama. This is a good man running here, at least he give you the sense that he actually cares abuot people.

George Packer writes about Palin in the current issue of the New Yorker. He writes, "Palin is too shallow to understand the weapon she’s playing with; she’s just thrilled to be the birthday girl and the object of so much semi-erotic devotion."

Something weird just occured to me. Every single place that a campaign places a paid ad on another website or at the top, sides, or bottom of Yahoo or Google search results pages costs them money in a pay per click campaign, but only when somebody "clicks through". Using the natural search in the middle of the page to take a peak at what they're up to is free--especially since they don't exactly have any competition for their websites except for the occasional obvious spoof. I haven't been able to bring myself to look at their drivel for months, but I think that I feel the need coming on to keep close tabs on their positions with some well-placed clicks between now and the election. It's not the big bucks, but I think that it will make me feel better to have an outlet every time I hear some new outrageous thing. It's kind of a clicking game instead of a drinking game. Maverick? That's gonna cost ya! I wish I'd thought of this six months ago.

great idea! i'm going to start clicking on all their ads, too. there's plenty of time to ring up a bill for them if everyone does it.

somebody apparently thought it would be funny to put me on the RNC mailing list, so when i got their solicitation for donations for mccain's campaign, i just stuffed all of it into the return-address envelope (no postage necessary) and sent it back to them. i figured they might as well get stuck for the return postage!

More scaremongering from good ole Sarah! Atta Girl!!! Keep the liars and distortions going, its what we have all come to expect. As Halloween is coming up, I think there's a new scarey costume idea we all have. Dress your kids up like Sarah Palin and scare the sh@t out of the neighbours. That's about all she is good for now.

Abortion is not an issue. Neither is being gay. These are only brought up during election campaigns. Dont be a sheeple. Use that thing between your ears and educate yourself. Quit sloganeering. Pro Life=No Choice.
