ABC: "Palin Makes Troopergate Assertions That Are Flatly False"

On Saturday, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin twice spoke to reporters about the so-called "Troopergate" scandal and the investigative report on whether she had abused her power in trying to get her sister's ex-husband Mike Wooten fired as a state trooper, and for firing Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan one year after she, her staffers, and her husband Todd began unsuccessfully pressuring Monegan to let Wooten go.

Palin spoke on the phone with Alaska reporters about the report. The McCain-Palin campaign only allowed one question per reporter. The journalists came from the Anchorage Daily News, KTVA-Channel 11 and KTUU-Channel 2. No follow-ups were allowed.

Guess NOW we need to KNOW how "First Dude" was able to build a half million dollar "Mayor's" House with the "help of a few contractor buddies" while on the campaign trail with Gov. Candidate Palin? Funny how it went up just down the street from another "Pal of Palin's Contractor's Tough" knows as "The Sports Complex" . . . and WHY did Mayor Palin suspend the rules requiring building permits be issued during THIS period? Funny that the "contractor buddies of Todd" are the SAME contractors that "won" the bids on the ol' Sport Complex . . . guess good Republican Contractors stick together . . 'cept maybe those working down on the Steven's Place, it must make for a great Happy Hour at the Limp Moose in Wallsila . . .

And I guess now we can move on to how she influenced the ballot initiative in favor of the Pebble Mine vs. the fisheries and environmentalists! There is another ethics investigation going on--into her publicly coming out against Proposition 4. This was in the Alaska media--a virtual firestorm--three days before McCain picked her!!!

I live in Anchorage and I just don't know what we are going to do with this woman when she comes limping back to Alaska. She is destroying the reputation of Alaska. You have to remember that this state needs infrastructure badly and she is destroying our chance to move this state forward. There is going to be a lot of pay back when this election is over and I will pesonally blame Sarah Palin. I just hope she doesn't cause rioting down south to start but I think she is going towards that every day with her stump speaches.

My sister lives near Fairbanks and has been a resident of Alaska for about 30 years. When I asked her about Gov. Palin a few weeks ago, she said Alaskans were generally satisfied with her as governor ... but maybe that's just a greater Fairbanks thing. I wonder what they think of Palin in Juneau.

Also wanted to comment that my nieces and nephews were born in Alaska and none of them speak with that fake North Dakota dialect. They also pronounce g at the end of a word. None of them shoot wild animals. My brother in law does fish; however he is sporting, using only a small boat and a fishing pole. They are outdoorsy and environmental friendly; probably more so than most people who live in a less harsh environment.

Not sure if I did, but I was trying to support gan's concern that the lower 48 would think all Alaskan's are goonie birds. We don't. At least I don't.

I watched a YouTube interview with some informed progressive young Alaskan women on the street. They said anything but they are "satisfied". They said that the electorate has basically been paid off with the $3200 in oil rebates and that as long as the government "leaves them alone" they are okay with just about anyone--that the standard for politicians is set so low there. They cited the former Governor, Murkowski, and said she was only viewed as better, at least initially, in comparison. And that guy is TOTALLY corrupt.!

I hope Monegan sues her. He has standing under Alaska law. Did you know that Alaska is one of only 11 states that has an exception to at will employment? The exception is that there is implied fair dealing and that if the at will employee is fired for anything other than "just cause" or if there is any malice in firing or any misrepresentation in the employment contract involved, there are grounds to sue.

Shameless, blatant, bald-faced lying, in the great tradition of the entire McCaign campaign. This Orwellian disregard for and denial of reality is predicated on the belief that the public is as stupid as Palin herself.

The underlying problem here is Todd palin. Here sits a man in the Governor's office, only because he married this woman, and executing a vendetta against a state trooper in plain sight of everyone. How many people witnessed Toddler's phone calls, contacts, and communications?

The truly frightening thing is that Sarah Palin has already set a political backdoor with the personnel board. She filed a complaint against herself to a board who's members are all appointees of hers and that will be addressed BEFORE the "Troopergate" report will. If her complaint requires further investigate, that could get stalled for three weeks easily, pushing any further findings behind the November 4th election date.

In the least, Alaskan's should be outraged by the cost to state by Palin's continuing to fight a ruling that clearly states her breach of ethics.
We should also take note of these additional costs on the national agenda. This is a person who claims to be a fiscal conservative, yet is costing her state tens of thousands of dollars in her continuing quest to gain acceptance.

How anyone can continue to claim that the Palin's family represent the "average American family" might want to take another look.

Absolutely incredible. Friday night and all of Saturday...no acknowledgment whatsoever as to the report; refusal to take any Q's from reporters. Come Sunday, mccain/plain comes out with THIS spin:

palin did nothing illegal or unethical. The report exonerates her completely.

um....that some good spin...except for the fact that it is totall contrary to what the report actually states.
