Hillary Speech Ashes Of Bushes

In a passionate speech introducing Joe Biden at a campaign rally in Scranton, Pennsylvania this afternoon, Hillary Clinton gave a strong endorsement to Barack Obama by celebrating the end of the Bush administration, shouting:

"Make no mistake about it. We've done it before and we will do it again. America will once again rise from the ashes of the Bushes."

It's the second time in the last week that she's used the dramatic line - last Monday, she said that "America can rise again as we have before from the ashes of the Bushes" in a forceful speech at the 8th Annual Eleanor Roosevelt Legacy Committee Luncheon in New York City.

This afternoon, she also slammed John McCain and the Bush administration's response to the financial crisis, criticizing them for bailing out large companies while "millions of people are losing their homes and jobs every single day! Where's their bailout?"

And she said that sending Republicans back to Washington to clean up the economic mess was like "sending a bull to clean up the china closet. They broke it and we're not buying it anymore."

Biden, demonstrating again that he is the Obama campaign's pit bull, slammed the McCain campaign's recent attacks that focused on Obama's association with Bill Ayers, accusing the Republican candidate of "relying on political stunts instead of offering solutions" and calling McCain "erratic."

The Democratic vice-presidential nominee shook his head as he noted "the ugly inferences and unbecoming personal attacks that have been directed and launched by the McCain campaign."

And he mocked Sarah Palin's record of questioning how much of a role man-made causes had to do with global warming: "How the heck are you going to solve a problem if you don't know what's causing it?"

Yes, Hilary, after the Bush years... we probably need to make a Phoenix the new national bird, instead of the eagle. The bible teaches that GOD spoke from a burning bush, but let me tell you, He certainly didn't speak through THIS burning Bush... and believe me, this Bush certainly leaves plenty of ashes, not the least of which should be the bill of rights, that he's so effectively torched. I'm sure the RW Fundamentalists are familiar with this Old Testament teaching..., so the analogy shouldn't be completely lost on them, even if they are only poor, dumb Joe Sixpack.

What a great idea, maybe we should speak on bible paraboles to the tr0//s and see if they get it. Although the teachings do not seem to guide their behavior.

I'm not happy, yet. Until Obama gets a significant lead, I don't trust the Repugs. The closer the numbers, the easier it is for them to steal it, once again. Like I said yesterday and Hillary said today, we can't get over-confident. Things can change for the worse very quickly. The key thing is to get the new ppl. who registered Democrat, to get to the polls. Yes, we have a lot of new registered voters, but it does not mean they will vote. Believe me, things are going to get uglier in the next 23 days. Hold on to your seats. God Bless us all.

I don't think I'm gonna be able to sleep on Election night.

Election night is also going to determine my wardrobe for the next four years. Because if McCain is "elected," I'm wearing black every #%!#$%# day like Johnny Cash did. Seriously.

I just hope I can find enough black clothes at Goodwill, because that's the only place I can afford to shop anymore.

We should all wear black if the Republicans steal this one again.

The day Kerry conceded, and in the days following, it felt in my town the way it did after 9/11. People were in mourning.

all my friends and I cried for weeks when Kerry lost. Talk about being completely depressed.

Count me in on wearing black! But I'm not so sure it will show up very well on TV when we're all out in the streets expressing our disgust.

A HISTORIC TICKET.... Now that Sarah Palin has been found to have abused her powers, violated state ethics, and lied about it, I did a little digging and found an interesting historical footnote.

The McCain/Palin ticket is the first in American history in which both candidates were found to have violated ethics standards before a national election.

McCain, of course, was admonished by Senate Ethics Committee "for exercising 'poor judgment' for intervening" with federal regulators on behalf of Charles Keating, as part of the infamous Keating Five scandal.

And now McCain's running mate has also been found to have violated state ethics laws and abused the powers of her office, as part of the "Troopergate" scandal.

The nation has had 102 major-party tickets covering 51 presidential elections over more than two centuries. And we've never had a ticket in which both candidates on the same ticket were responsible for ethics violations before a national election. McCain/Palin is the first.

It makes the whole "reform" pitch a little more difficult, doesn't it?

NO WAY, NO HOW, NO McCAIN/PALIN

By the way, today I read something that I thought would never, ever happen: Senator Bob Menendez, the Cuban Democrat from NJ actually went to Miami in support of Obama and HAS MANAGED TO RECEIVE THE SUPPORT OF CUBAN REPUBLICANS FOR OBAMA (read it on OFF THE BUS at HP)!!!!

I thought that I was hallucinating! There was a better chance of coconut palms in Alaska than CubanRepublicans for Obama. I now believe in miracles! Thanks Bob Menendez!

Alaska already has coconut pailins. I always say there are still many Repsbs who truly love this country, they see what is best for the people and not for just a few in power.

Ohio Newspaper Endorses Obama. The following from there final paragraph:

"Historically, Ohio has had a critical role in presidential elections and appears poised once again to be a key in deciding who sits in the Oval Office for the next four years. This is an awesome responsibility, and one that cannot be taken lightly. For the future of Ohio and America, there is only one reasonable choice for president: Barack Obama"

That is one eloquent and convincing endorsement. Thanks for posting. Btw, do you know if the paper has endorsed Dems or Repubs in the past?

I don't know that. But I do know that it was at least the 2nd Newspaper in Ohio to endorse Obama on Sunday.

Given the number of Republicans and Democrats who voted for the bailout, I'm pretty sure neither side can use it as a club to bash their opponents.

But then, the facts and logic have never been Hillary's strong suits.

False equivalence. The economic collapse will be known as one of Bush's Republican legacy hallmarks. This is a suit where one size does not fit all.
