UPDATE:
Mark Wahlberg wants to punch Andy Samberg, he said Thursday.

PREVIOUSLY:
Mark Wahlberg is not a fan of a "Saturday Night Live" sketch from October 4th called "Mark Wahlberg Talks To Animals" (scroll down to see it). In Sunday's NY Post, Wahlberg has a Q&A to promote his upcoming movie "Max Payne," and towards the end is asked what he thought. In the skit, Andy Samberg plays Wahlberg as he talks to a dog, a goat, a chicken and a donkey. It's described on NBC's website as "Barky Bark and the Donkey Bunch." Sample dialogue, "Hey dog, what's up? I like your fur... say hey to your mother for me."

Wahlberg said of the sketch:

Someone showed it to me on YouTube. It wasn't like Tina Fey doing Sarah Palin, that's for sure. And "Saturday Night Live" hasn't been funny for a long time. They've asked me to do the show a ton of times. I used to watch it when Eddie Murphy was there and Joe Piscopo and Bill Murray. I don't even know who's on the show now.

he did a skit tonight and seemed to make fun of himself wanting to punch sandberg.

seriously though, this is and has been a joke. what person threatens bodily harm to someone (which is a crime) which involves flying from california to nyc in 1 day, shows up at a secure studio, gets inside, etc.

it's just a joke and has been....marky mark and adam are in on it

Same clothes, too, it was actually a brilliant set up for something that wouldn't have been funny at all without the intervening week. Great that they put such a nonsense skit on just to set up a cameo a week later. Is that meta? It seems meta.

Don't they teach you to roll with the punches? That skit was funny. Mark, you're not funny. Loosen up, dude.

Wahlberg's excellent. Too bad. He should've laughed it off. Better, he should go on and do a skit with Samberg.

He doesn't like it because it was funny.

And Bill Murray and Eddie Murphy haven't been on SNL in, like, 20 years!
05:44 PM on 10/17/2008
Murray about 28 years , Murphy and Piscopo about 25 years. Way to stay current on Pop culture Marky. I'm surprised he was even allowed to stay up that late back then.

What an absolute toolbox. This sketch was funnier than any of the painful/obvious Palin sketches.

This may very well be the one conversation sarah does comprehend...

So what! So what! So what! So what! Soon we'll see a sketch of Marky Mark standing in a soup line. When will Americans ever become serious people? Dogs will be reciting the Gettysburg Address before that happens. Are you feeling that good 'ol national pride yet? Stop the freakin' wars before we export any more of our pathetic "culture" to a world that just doesn't care what we think anymore.

project girl here again. I should have proofread my last comment, darn it!!! I meant that I am disappointed that SNL is considering having Sarah Palin on the show. I did not mean to do the double negative.

This little tidbit has been on your site for a few days now. Is this really news. Is this designed in some way to take a bit of the limelight away from SNL? Believe me, I am disappointed that having Sarah Palin on the show is disappointing, but I'm not sure this little piece of bad press about SNL is really going to connect those dots if that's what your after. If you think this is interesting news, that's just lame.

Okay, guilty... I laughed!

No particular reason...I just started thinking about Mark talking to animals...

It got a chuckle - nothing heavy :)

I'd hardly call that a "slam." It was an honest assessment of the show which is, most of the time, not funny. It's only been better lately because politics always makes for great comedy sketch material.

Andy Sandberg's impression of Mark Wahlberg is very good but the talking with animals sketch pretty much sucked. On the other hand, Adam Sandler's way over the top but not-quite-as-accurate impression of Marky Mark way back when on the "Sinatra Group" sketch had me peeing in my pants it was so funny.
