NEW YORK — David Letterman and Sen. John McCain will get a chance to make up.

The Republican presidential candidate is scheduled to appear on Letterman's "Late Show" on Thursday.

It will be McCain's 13th visit to the CBS program but his first since he angered Letterman by canceling last month.

Letterman was unhappy when McCain sat for an interview with Katie Couric instead of him on Sept. 24.

At the time he said he first felt like a "patriot" to let McCain off his commitment to deal with the economy but "now I'm feeling like an ugly date."

A McCain spokeswoman said at the time that because of the economic crisis, the campaign "felt this wasn't a night for comedy."

Refused to watch it last night but saw it on Hardball tonight.

Let me ask a BIG question....

Is John McCain suffering from dissociative identity disorder?

If not then what the H is wrong with this man?

I watched FOX News last night and McCain won the debate 86% to 11%

Okay, Dave, here's what you do.

On Thursday when McCain is to come on your show, call in sick at the last minute and have, say, Keith Olbermann fill in for you as guest host. Then, here's the beauty part, have Keith roll some tape to McCain showing you being interviewed live by Rachel Maddow.

Perfection. Please, please, please.

McCain's either going to announce he's supporting Senator Obama for President (rather than Palin) or that Lieberman will be replacing Palin as his running mate because Cindy can handle being married to a chronic underdog for so long.

What would be awesome is if somehow, Letterman let's Obama come on, unbeknownst to McCain, and read the top-10 list. That would be awesome... Maybe something ultra sarcastic. Top 10 reasons why John McCain decided to show up today... That way, in that format, Obama gets to overshadow McCain and Letterman gets his revenge.

Dave should have a guest host that night. Which one?

Olbermann or Rachel Maddow.

I am tired of eight years of failed McNomics

I am dismayed the way Sarah Palin is working Republican base pumping hatred and rage against Barack Obama. Winning power at the cost of dividing nation is unpatriotic and simply outrageous. It is the deadliest weapon of mass destruction that will start an irreversible process resulting into much bigger tragedy than this nation has ever experienced.

I commend Senator Obama and Senator Biden for keeping their cool in face of this mockery. They have proven to be the true statesmen and leaders we need to take us out of this mess.

I am tired of eight years of failed McNomics. I hope America opts for real change and not a pocket change"

McCain is an idiot if he wants to go on Letterman now. Dave will be ostensibly polite and respectful, but will make McCain very uncomfortable by asking some hard questions.

Like this one: "Regarding your selection of Sarah Palin as your running mate, what were you thinking?"

That one alone should put McCain away for the night. McCain will have no choice but to give a serious answer, but the whole country will be on the joke if Dave asks it. Any answer McCain gives (and you know it will be the same crap he has been saying about her all along) will sound comical, trite and insincere.

What a loss of face for McCain...... appearing on Lettermen with his tail between his legs. You call that a fighter? What a fraud..

McCain has no shame. He should be hiding from the public, and even more so, from himself.

Dave should cancel at the last minute and put Barrack Obama in his place. If he doesn't
I won't be watching.

All Obama supporters should watch Joe Biden the same night on the Jay Leno show.

Sorry Dave, I'm not as forgiving as you are.

Watching Biden on Leno.

I'd rather be an ugly patriot than vote for McCain.

Wasn't a night for comedy? But sure as heck was a night for a LIE.

Why would you want him on after you were dissed? Talk about awkward. You're on your Dave with this one. I'm out.

I won't be watching Letterman on Thursday. I'll wait to see the video the next day. Not going to add to the ratings that night.

Sorry, Dave.

Watch Biden on Leno instead.
