Editor and Publisher:

Barack Obama picked up at least 15 newspaper endorsements this weekend, including six in swing states Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Ohio, North Carolina and Missouri. John McCain, as far as we know, gained none.

The Wisconsin State Journal and The Sun of San Bernardino had backed Bush in 2004. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch called Obama's opponent, John McCain, "the incredible shrinking man" who had made a horrific pick for his running mate.

Backing Obama: In Ohio, The Blade in Toledo and the Dayton Daily News; the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, St. Louis Post-Dispatch, The Tennessean of Nashville, the Wisconsin State Journal. the Asheville (N.C.) Citizen-Times, and in California the Fresno Bee, Sacramento Bee, Contra Costa Times, The Herald of Monterrey, and The Sun of San Bernardino (which had picked Bush over Kerry).

If you read the articles you realize they ALL hark back to the one main premise of this campaign: The future vs the past. It is unquestionable Obama is the future of this nation and we can't look back to aid us in moving foreward.

Why? Let him keep sinking himself. Why help him out? I know at a gut level we don't like the lies, but now that most people know that they are desparate lies and are turning against him because of it, I say let him keep doing what he's doing. Don't help him get on the right track.

ANALYSIS

Eighteen state polls were released over the weekend, and Barack Obama is leading in 14 of them. A new poll in Colorado is showing Obama leading by 10 points. But the only change today is that Nevada steps back into the margin of error with a tiny 0.7-point move to the right on average. We have now been in a hold pattern for seven straight days with Obama projected at 380 electoral votes and only 22 days left until the election.

The crosstabs are showing some very exciting statistics this past week. Men, who once supported McCain by more than 10 points, are now evenly split between the candidates while women are overwhelmingly supporting Obama. I illustrated on Saturday that Obama is winning every age group except seniors, but since Saturday he has closed the gap and is now leading among seniors by an average of 0.3%. Latino voters are now supporting Obama by a margin of more than 2 to 1, while white voters are maintaining a safe level of support for Obama at 43%.

These are the kind of statistics that win elections!

I have a challenge for any McCain "supporters" lurking or trolling or whatever they do here: Your pattern seems to be to simply state things like, "I just don't trust Obama" or "I just think he's evil" as justification for voting for McCain. I wonder why you can't be more specific? Do you honestly believe - and I mean HONESTLY - that because of his race or his name or his "ties" to Ayers, or the rumor that he is Muslim - which is really all the McCain's seem to be riding on - that he is a threat to this country? (this from the party who thinks equality is a threat to liberty - as in the gay marriage debate) I'd like to see you try to be a little more specific. McCain's campaign can't seem to be able to do it with any real coherency. I wonder if you can?

Actually, Holden, it's just a justification.
These would be the first people who would say, "I'M not a RACIST!. But..."
It's not cool to be a racist. It's stupid. It's ignorant. It's uncouth. De-classe. Tacky. Shows lack of education.
But if someone's a Muslim? (Or a Jew. Or an atheist. Or a Pagan. Or....) Forget it.
They're a demon. A terrorist.
People don't even know what Muslims believe. They don't know that there are different sects, just like there are in Christianity.
What these people can't bring themselves to say is this:
John McCain Is White.
Sad sad sad...

I disagree with Obama, as I do with most democrats regarding the role of government in peoples lives. I do not need someone taking what I have worked for and giving it to someone else. I think government is much too large and I blame Bush for this as well. I don't like the associations Obama has, but I don't think he is evil because of them. I just disagree with his policy.

So you prefer your government stay out of your life? Such as pursuing an unjust war that becomes everyone's burden? Or a multi-billion $$ bailout for our banking system brought on by failed oversight and incompetency?

The Reublican's have been passing around the "big government tax smear" for decades now. The reality is, the government will always play a roll in the distribution of wealth, so if you have a high six figure income, I understand your position. If you are like most of the rest of us, having a President who is competent and willing to serve the will of the people is of paramount importance. Vote for the old goat if you think the past 8 years "haven't been that bad." You can say otheriwse all you want, it won't change the fact that McCain TRULY is verymuch like Bush, maybe a little smarter, but only a little. Justify it all you want, you have bought the Republican Party Line smear and thus are a Republican---Big Govt Bad, Dem=Big Govt, Dem=Bad.

If our state newspaper, The Daily Oklahoman, endorsed Obama, I would have to grab hold of something because, I think the world would come to a complete and abrupt halt!!!!

They always back the Republican, no matter who or what they are.....

Speaking to San Francisco “elites” this past spring, Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama said, “You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, and like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, it’s not surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion.”

That's how bitter, unemployed and disempowered people can be. It's time to sweeten them, employ them and empower them. Obama '08!

Sometimes the truth hurts! Although I do think he left a few things out -- many cling to their racial prejudice, their fear of change and progress, their fear of those who have different backgrounds and experiences, their fear of someone who isn't named Jones or Smith.

If you are not bitter with what is happening at the Wall Street and the MAIN Street, you are the ones that Obama was talking about. He said the truth.

McCain is really, really scr ewed. He'd need to turn the page, become more noble in the next few weeks, and hopefully bow out gracefully.

Yes.... The Dayton Daily News is important because that's read in Montgomery county where there was massive voter fraud in 2004 thank you Ken Blackwell. Thankfully Blackwell is no longer in the picture.

Do ou think Blackwell is out is simple coincidence. Just like Katherine Harris is history from down in Florida and her vote stealing shenanigans?

All that has been changed from back in the dark ages. Why do you think Rove was banished by Bush after 2006 and not being able to steal elections any longer.

The San Bernardino Sun was the newspaper in the area until recently. The Press Enterprise has made some inroads recently. As much as San Bernardino has been through over the last 10 years, I couldn't believe they endorsed Bush back in 2004. What in the world were they thinking? This area, especially the east end of the valley is conservative, however times are changing. People who usually vote Republican are going back and reconsidering why? It has a lot to do with upbringing. Their family has always voted Republican. With all the economic trouble, they are paying more attention to what going on.

About MCCAIN’S ANGER, we need to know more—and the media has a responsibility to let us know before it is too late. This especially urgent in light of McCain’s recent behavior—in debates and stumping. WE HAVE ALL HEARD A LITTLE SOMETHING ABOUT his TEMPER--and now the code word is that he is erratic, which no doubt he is. The media has a responsibility to explore this matter more fully before it is too late--before November 4 elections! For a starter, there is a You-tube video circulating on the internet and now carried by Huffington Post. Time is of essence. I recommend it to everyone as a starting point. More than thirty public officials and some journalists testify to that, including Keith Olbermann of MSNBC. And about Cindy McCain, she is doing something that no Candidate's wife has ever done--attacking her husband's opponent. She is taking a dangerous path that will make her a fair game. I see hate and venom vanished all over Cindy McCain's face--and she lied. If she had the brain, and cared to look up the fact, she would have discovered that McCain also voted against a bill to fund the troops-- because it had a dateline for withdrawal, just as Obama voted for one because it didn't have such a timeline. That makes it two chills up her spine!
