Editor and Publisher:

Barack Obama picked up at least 15 newspaper endorsements this weekend, including six in swing states Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Ohio, North Carolina and Missouri. John McCain, as far as we know, gained none.

The Wisconsin State Journal and The Sun of San Bernardino had backed Bush in 2004. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch called Obama's opponent, John McCain, "the incredible shrinking man" who had made a horrific pick for his running mate.

Backing Obama: In Ohio, The Blade in Toledo and the Dayton Daily News; the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, St. Louis Post-Dispatch, The Tennessean of Nashville, the Wisconsin State Journal. the Asheville (N.C.) Citizen-Times, and in California the Fresno Bee, Sacramento Bee, Contra Costa Times, The Herald of Monterrey, and The Sun of San Bernardino (which had picked Bush over Kerry).

Well I don't know if it will work but i just wrote to the major newspaper of my city, The Indianapolis Star, and urged them to endorse Senator Obama.
It would be great if my fellow Hoosiers would do the same!

One can always hope, though...

There are about 10 Obama signs for each McCain sign in my town, 65 miles North East of Indianapolis. Still, it'd be a miracle if Indiana goes BLUE, b/c the vast majority of houses have no sign and we don't know how the people with no sign vote..

Obama signs are increasingly up in my Alabama town. We can only dream and hope.

I have family in Indiana. While I hate to insult them because they've been nice to me, they are racists and hateful racists at that. They wouldn't vote democrat if Jesus were our candidate. In fact they wouldn't vote for Jesus becuase he's just too Je wey for them. I think I can safely say that 95% of rural indiana are super-hicks.

bless you for having the clarity of mind to see their hate. I've always said that while blacks suffer due to racism, whites suffer the effects too. any decent person is appalled at the ignorance of others we care about.

Check out the website 538. See how Indiana is turning fast from red to blue. As of today it is very close at 50 to 50 percent. If things go as planned Indiana of all places will be turning blue.

People who know the history of Indiana know why we say Wooo Hooo!!!

I would give you the link, but if you are anything like me you hate links given becasue they can take you anywhere. Most bloggers know 538. It's spelled out. Check out the polling and the maps. You will want to celebrate. But don't yet until you canvass, volunterr and donate to Obama.

They need all the help they can get and as you can see they are doing great things with their resources.

The republicans are scared and have become "mad" as in mentally unstable.

The landslide coming on Nov 4th for Obama will bring tears of joy to our eyes!

It's been a long haul for years and I get chocked up just thinking about it.

Once again the liberal MSM shows its bias.

It's a well known neocon fact that every newspaper (all of them) that Sister Sarah reads has endorsed Honest John.

From the recent rallies I'm guessing The Thunderbolt as well.

Here's my question regarding media bias:

Why have we had Republican control of government (White House and/or Congress) almost continually since 1980?

If the media is so biased people aren't buying it. OR maybe this talk of bias is a bunch of BULLPALIN.

I'm guessing that Rog49Thomas has his tongue firmly in cheek, but---what liberal MSM? Why would the Corporatist conduit be liberal? The MSM is full-time corporate propaganda.

Mike Judge is right, we are becoming of nation of idiots, ruled by idiots. We are an Idiocracy.

The comedy shows on TV have a greater effect on voters than newspapers and probably even the main stream medias. The clips they all showed of McCain wandering around the stage showed him as being very disoriented and confused which of course is truth personified.

The ratings on shows like the Daily Show have gone through the roof and this show does a great job of showing the lies and desperation of the McCain campaign.

15 newspapers in one day......stunning!

This election is nearing the point here the GOP can't even steal it.

It may be there already.

Unfortunately, our local "paper" The Napa Valley Register, which is not locally owned, just wrote an editorial filled with cliched right wing talking points about McCain and endorsed him for President. They endorsed Bush in 2000 and 2004. These folks just can't get enough of the right wing's "magic" of the last 8 years and wish for 4 more.

It's really a no-brainer. Although it's a tough choice, people are opting for the candidate with brains. Rough times ahead. Can't afford any more lightweights. You betcha.

Hey whatever happened to Jack Cafferty? Has he been forced by CNN, with pressure from the GOP, to stay low after the Sarah Palin comment about her being very very ill-prepared for VP?

wow, 15 papers...super
and I read some of the editorials...inspirational
Obama IS presidential, he gives hope for the future
McCain is the "incredible shrinking man"
wants us to just "believe" him just because he says so
and the negative ads? came back to bite him on the "you know what"
my late mother had an expression from her childhood she often said
'cheating shows"....it was the "what goes around comes around" of her day
"karma"..it keeps coming to my mind
I think we are seeing it

II am not so sure that the Newspaper endorsements will reach the Palin voters - they don't seem to be a widely read bunch. Perhaps endorsements on cereal boxes or beer labels will influence them, though the words may need to be short and capable of being sounded out by a mouth-breather.

Following their leader who, in her interview with Katie Couric, couldn't name one newspaper she'd read.
