I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Mccain

RedState co-founder Joshua Trevino writes on his blog that he can't bring himself to vote for the Republican ticket:

In the end, I couldn't do it. My California ballot arrived in the mail today, and I opened it fully intending to vote for John McCain. I filled out the state propositions first -- yes on 8, no on everything proposing a new bond or new spending -- then the local offices, straight Republican excepting Kevin Johnson for (nonpartisan) Sacramento mayor. Finally, the vote for President of the United States: an academic exercise in California, where Barack Obama will surely win by a crushing margin. But good citizenship demands voting as if it matters. Do I believe in John McCain? Not as much as I used to. Do I believe in Sarah Palin? Despite my early enthusiasm for her, now not at all. Do I believe in the national Republican Party? Not in the slightest -- even though I see no meaningful alternative to it. So, my choice for President in 2008, scrawled in my ballot as an act of futile protest, is Governor Bobby Jindal of Louisiana. If nothing else, I am confident this is the first of several votes I will cast for him in years to come.

I enciourage all Republicans to obtain an absentee ballot and vote for someone other than Palin/McCain. I do suggest you mix it up a bit. We don't want Jindal winning by default.

Saw a SUV going down the highway the other day with a huge banner, Republicans for Obama!

Good for you, Mr. Redstater. Time for the children of the right to move over (again) and let the Democrats and Independents fix the mess you made.

Lets hope that the same sentiment is repeated across the country.

You can bet you a$$ that had he been in a contested state he would have fall in line like the rest of the pawn! Or at least he would have shut up about it!

I can respect his view, and I understand that it would be hard to go against your idealogy and vote for a Dem. It is nice to consider that Barack will open a door to legitimate candidates of all races. Bobby Jindal would have been a better selection, then Palin, but alas, the Rethug base would have never accepted him. Maybe in 20 years they will.

Thanks for voting for Jindal who is not even on the ballot! Maybe he is a shade lighter so you made it sound like you are color-blind? If you could vote for Jindal, certainly you could vote for Obama whose education, experience, leadership are as followed: 3 years as a brilliant community organizer created a voter registration drive of 150,000 new voters to exercise their constitutional right, first black President of the prestigious Harvard Law Review, 12 years as Constitutional Law professor, 8 years as a State Senator representing a district with over 750,000 people (bigger than the entire state of Alaska of 670,000) and co-sponsor of the first Ethics Rules in 25 years, chairman of the state Senate's Health and Human Services committee, 4 years in the United States Senate representing a state of 14 million people while sponsoring 131 bills and serving on the Foreign Affairs, Environment and Public Works and Veteran's Affairs committees, and ran the most efficient campaign and biggest donation fund ever in the history. McCAIN-2008 AND SARAH & TODD PALIN: ETHICS VIOLATORS, POWER ABUSERS AND LIARS WHO WRECK THE REPUBLICAN PARTY.

Jindal is more to the right than even Sarah Palin. However, he is actually intelligent, so he would be a formidable foe in the future.

Yeah and he can exorcise demons from others. Palin can only have demons exorcised from herself.

As someone voting almost exactly the opposite of Mr. Trevino (No on 8, Yes on several of the environmentally based spending measures and YES on Obama) I can, at the very least, admire his conviction of principle. Given the complete meltdown in morality by the Palin/McCain campaign I fully expect to see Barr, Paul and write-in candidates on the right take a significant percentage of the vote in blue states simply out of frustration.

This is how Obama will shock the country and win a Southern state that no one expects him to.

Just you watch.

McCainPalin has nowhere to go now but down. He can run away from President Bush, but he can't run away from the Republican Party. The Republicans will be regarded from now on as "the party that wrecked America." Over the weeks ahead, as carnage in the economy and the financial markets ramps up, it will become increasingly clear. It is important that this meme be spread through the internet. I urge all commentators to adopt and spread the idea that the Republicans are "the party that wrecked America." It will work because it is the truth.

Bobby Jindal? Who believes in creationism like Palin? Well, at least it's a vote that counts for nothing.

Although I disagree with Jindal on virtually every social issue I have to admit that he has shown great competence as an executive. So if you look at it from the perspective of a social conservative it does make a lot of sense.
