I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Mccain

RedState co-founder Joshua Trevino writes on his blog that he can't bring himself to vote for the Republican ticket:

In the end, I couldn't do it. My California ballot arrived in the mail today, and I opened it fully intending to vote for John McCain. I filled out the state propositions first -- yes on 8, no on everything proposing a new bond or new spending -- then the local offices, straight Republican excepting Kevin Johnson for (nonpartisan) Sacramento mayor. Finally, the vote for President of the United States: an academic exercise in California, where Barack Obama will surely win by a crushing margin. But good citizenship demands voting as if it matters. Do I believe in John McCain? Not as much as I used to. Do I believe in Sarah Palin? Despite my early enthusiasm for her, now not at all. Do I believe in the national Republican Party? Not in the slightest -- even though I see no meaningful alternative to it. So, my choice for President in 2008, scrawled in my ballot as an act of futile protest, is Governor Bobby Jindal of Louisiana. If nothing else, I am confident this is the first of several votes I will cast for him in years to come.

The religious right needs to learn that their brand of theocracy isn't going to be any better than the previous incarnations throughout history. It is just a terrible form of government.

PS
Jindel scares me. Almost as much as Sarah Palin.

I agree....Jinal is an creationist....you'd think these idiots never attended college

I can't stand the Republican party or Jindal. However it is stupid to attack creationists because you definitely don't know where we came from. One thing is clear, something beyond our comprehension brought all this about. You can be intelligent and a creationist.

That said, Jindal can go suck on an egg

I completely agree. Religious extremists are very dangerous. Whether their religion/ideology is Christianity or Communism or Islam... as soon as they rise it to something more than their private matter, we are in big trouble. They cannot think critically or logically or verify their hypothesis with reality. More scary is that they are deeply offended and angry when somebody does.

McCain/Palin now scare me more than Bush/Cheney - never thought I'd live to that.

The Dems should be putting out ads that showcase the great number of Repubs who have dissed JM/SP. Trevino, George Will, Bill Milliken, Chuck Hagel, WILLIAM F. BUCKLEY'S SON for cryin' out loud. The list goes on and on. We need to make it "all right" for thoughtful Repubs to oppose this dangerous ticket.

Jindal is just the South's Sarah Palin, without the winking. He's another religious extremist right winger.

Exactly! I was shocked to see who he wrote in. Here I was thinking he must have some common sense after he rejected both McLiarBush and Palin and then he says Jindal? Come on! Ron Paul and Bob Barr both have more credibility than Jindal. Yuck

Very true, I can at least listen to everything he has to say before I disagree with him on it, LOL.

Although I didn't vote for Jindal I have to say that comment is truly insulting to the man. There is a HUGE difference between Jindal and Palin, number one being Jindal is a Rhodes Scholar. Since I live here I get to hear him and speak and although I disagree with many of his policies and platforms I have to say the man is one of the most intelligent people around. He understands the the problems we are facing very clearly and has articulated some interesting thoughts on resolving them. Again, I don't agree with much of what he says but it is because I'm a democrat and have a different philosophy from him, not because he can't put together a coherent self created thought or idea like Palin.

Hate Jindal for his policies but never compare him to Palin whom has been nothing but a devisive air head pulling down the republican party to nothingless (which is quite fortunate for us!). I will never understand why McCain chose Palin over Jindal or Kay Hutchinson, but I'M SO GLAD HE DID! LOL

Thank god he could bring himself to vote for Prop 8, because god knows THAT's an issue that needs his allegedly principled support -- seeing as how it affects him in no way whatsoever.

Now if we could just get the rest of them to do the same thing, we could actually fix the country.

Well I am hoping OUR three votes will help to oveturn the horrible bigoty shown by Joshua on Prop 8.

ANYONE who can vote and wants to support marriage rights for all HAS GOT to make the effort on the 4th to get out and vote. There are a lot of important votes in California but NONE so important as

voting Obama for presidnt

and

NO NO NO NO NO on Prop 8!

Take it from a life long native Louisianian, Bobby Jindal is crap. He is trying his best to ruin what's left of my beautiful state. He is hateful and self-agrandizing. He has set out to shread healthcare and cut every program for young children he can. He has signed a bill so that teachers can teach creationism in our classrooms.

Relatives who have lived in La for the last 150 years think that voting for Jindal was the worst mistake they ever made and these relatives are HARD CORE republicans.

I'm sorry that Mr. Trevino voted Yes on Prop. 8.

That vote won't help anybody's marriage - why some Republicans think it will hurt *their* marriages if same-sex partners have SOME of the same rights makes no sense at all.
Irrational fear or prejudice? I think so.

But I,too, won't vote for any new bonds. I think that the California legislators should get tough & decide on their own what to stand for instead of making voters decide for them. I'd think the assembly-senate might know MORE about laws. But - that certainly could be incorrect!

Ohio Newspaper Endorses Obama. The following from there final paragraph:

"Historically, Ohio has had a critical role in presidential elections and appears poised once again to be a key in deciding who sits in the Oval Office for the next four years. This is an awesome responsibility, and one that cannot be taken lightly. For the future of Ohio and America, there is only one reasonable choice for president: Barack Obama"

Bobby Jindal's insane -- isn't Ron Paul still on the ticket? Slightly less mad.

Ron Paul is not on the ticket , but he could have been written in just as easily as Jindal. Ron Paul is a little extreme (abortion, taxes), but he is very honest and strong anti-war. In these regards he is way better than Jindal.

Palin will her own show on FOX - she really should be heading for, "The Jerry Springer Show,"
but then again, FOX is equally as sleazy.

Palin, as God's anointed and the new Esther from the Bible, is going to be very busy whether or not she's VP. She helped her church take over Wasilla, but there's a whole state that needs convertin' up there. After all, Alaska, as it's shaped like a crown (WTF?), is called to bring the rest of America to God. Maybe if we don't listen, they'll have no choice but to secede and leave us to our woeful fate. Watch this scary vid from Max Blumenthal, courtesy of Andrew Sullivan's blog:

Talk about looking backwards. These fundies are trying to initiate a new Dark Ages.
