I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Mccain

RedState co-founder Joshua Trevino writes on his blog that he can't bring himself to vote for the Republican ticket:

In the end, I couldn't do it. My California ballot arrived in the mail today, and I opened it fully intending to vote for John McCain. I filled out the state propositions first -- yes on 8, no on everything proposing a new bond or new spending -- then the local offices, straight Republican excepting Kevin Johnson for (nonpartisan) Sacramento mayor. Finally, the vote for President of the United States: an academic exercise in California, where Barack Obama will surely win by a crushing margin. But good citizenship demands voting as if it matters. Do I believe in John McCain? Not as much as I used to. Do I believe in Sarah Palin? Despite my early enthusiasm for her, now not at all. Do I believe in the national Republican Party? Not in the slightest -- even though I see no meaningful alternative to it. So, my choice for President in 2008, scrawled in my ballot as an act of futile protest, is Governor Bobby Jindal of Louisiana. If nothing else, I am confident this is the first of several votes I will cast for him in years to come.

Yes, that is what all good Republicans should do!

Don't get me wrong-- I don't see how anyone thinking would be voting for Senator McCain this year, either. Senator McCain is a good man, but goodness what will he do next? Nobody knows, no-one really wants to know and often watching Senator McCain bounce from position to pander to pander-position to "angry populist" is very difficult. But Governor Jindal? Governor Jindal is a "certified" exorcist..... what in the heck is that?

Thank goodness we have an absolutely sane choice this year, especially now, in this time of great anxiety-- Barack Obama. His name may be funny, but his ability to communicate to all of us like the adults we are is for real. And they call him "No drama Obama" for a reason. Thank goodness we have Barack Obama!

Gee ya coulda at least given the vote to Ron Paul.
I am an Independant and proud to vote the person not the party.

Obama would have had a fight if Dr. Paul had gotten the nomination I truly hope that OBAMA is smart enough to make him his Secretary of the Treasury,

Warren Buffet does not understand derivatives and Ron Paul is a freakin genius with the economy.he saw all this coming in 2003 and tried to warn ev1, he would get rid of the FED and the central bank.

Yes, that is why Warren Buffett just pulled into the lead as richest man, because he doesn't understand the stock market, you idiot!

I'm sorry, I like Ron Paul as a person, but his economics are not really practical, unless you don't mind seeing over 50% of the nation starving in the streets or dying from untreated diseases.

Umm, you're wrong about Buffett. HE warned about derivatives trading in 2003. He called them "financial weapons of mass destruction."

I've notice a sharp drop in the Red State viral email lies I was getting. I sorta wondered why, now I know.

Now you know why. This is one "McCainian" vote down the drain. I am sure there are millions of disgruntled Republicans out there who will do the same.

McCain has once more "promised" to whip "you know what" of Obama during the next debate. I guess he forgot that he has been challenging the guy to a Town hall debates all along only to have his knees knocked-in at the second town-hall-type debate.

Be careful of what you wish for.

What he didn't say was why. Why can't he vote for McCain? What's wrong with the party? The agenda hasn't changed. The strategy and tactics haven't changed. His not voting for McCain is like loving M&Ms but refusing to give the green ones a chance. I'm sure he voted for Bush twice. McCain himself has bragged that he is POTUS approved 95% Bush. You can't get much more party pure than that.

Glad he's not voting for McCain, but Bobby Jindal? I can't respect anyone who would vote for someone who believes in intelligent design. Republicans are the pro-ignorance party.

I was lurking over at Fox news yesterday. Greta wired has a email campaign going to the State of Ohio Secretary on Acorn/voter fraud. So mean people over there.

"for years to come"? Why, just because you can't vote for a democrat??? What does it matter if he's republican OR democrat - its the person, brains, character that counts. If he gets the job done in the next 4 years, I sincerely hope you will re-elect him based on performance and merit as those are good enough reasons alone.

Unfortunately Palin will be on the Republican scene long after Obama's 8 years as
President. She's going to run against him in 4 years.

Somehow if they lose this election, I have a very strong feeling that her political career may be over. I think she will be done in Alaska and I'm sure the Repub. party doesn't want her on the National scene either. She has shown the country who and what she is and it's not very attractive and Alaska has finally stopped being afraid of her.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:52 PM on 10/12/2008

It will be interesting to see what happens when she tries to reappear on the scene in 4 years. I very much doubt she will have the support of Guiliani, Thompson, Rommey, et all then. Do you honestly think they will consider her to be presidential material as they go up against her in the primary? I can't wait to see all those that are supporting her now, go after her.

You could'nt be more right! Palin is a trend, much like an early "American Idol" finalist. In four years, she will be as popular as Justin Gurarini (or what ever his last name was).

That's interesting you think that because her favorability rating in Alaska has gone down. I predict she will not be on the scene so much after losing this election. Some people in the republican party think that just because they like Sara Palin this must mean that we all do. In a general election if she were to run for President she would never be able to bridge the gap between swing voters and moderate democrats like myself.

Thank you. We have since voted early in person in Atlanta.

I have been using most of my cell phone minutes to keep in touch with family and friends to make sure they register and then, VOTE.

Mark my word, Obama will WIN Georgia, despite these deceptive polls.

Obama/Biden,08.

Just read a little more on Jindal...weird guy...guess they'll be calling him "Beetlejuice Bobby" if they ever SERIOUSLY consider him a candidate on a national ticket....don't hold your breath, though...they took a huge chance with Sorry Sarah, but looks like his extra baggage is even worse than hers.

I just used a combination of websites to see what Obama's Electoral votes might be.

The range is from 350 to 410 and he needs 270 so that is good!

But to get that ALL DEMOCRATS MUST VOTE on or before Nov 4!

America and Americans can Recover and Thrive

Agreed! Don't take this lead for granted. Continue doing everything you can to get Obama/Biden elected.

No time to relax, this is not over until all the networks declare Obama/Biden the President/Vice President elect on November 4.

Not just democrats must vote but republicans and independents too. I registered republican when I was 18 (following my dad) but have to say (at 42), I've voted all over party lines. This is not a democrat/republican issue, this is an AMERICAN issue.
