I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Mccain

RedState co-founder Joshua Trevino writes on his blog that he can't bring himself to vote for the Republican ticket:

In the end, I couldn't do it. My California ballot arrived in the mail today, and I opened it fully intending to vote for John McCain. I filled out the state propositions first -- yes on 8, no on everything proposing a new bond or new spending -- then the local offices, straight Republican excepting Kevin Johnson for (nonpartisan) Sacramento mayor. Finally, the vote for President of the United States: an academic exercise in California, where Barack Obama will surely win by a crushing margin. But good citizenship demands voting as if it matters. Do I believe in John McCain? Not as much as I used to. Do I believe in Sarah Palin? Despite my early enthusiasm for her, now not at all. Do I believe in the national Republican Party? Not in the slightest -- even though I see no meaningful alternative to it. So, my choice for President in 2008, scrawled in my ballot as an act of futile protest, is Governor Bobby Jindal of Louisiana. If nothing else, I am confident this is the first of several votes I will cast for him in years to come.

Apparently he can't bring himself to vote for either top-tier candidate, McCain nor Obama, so he is writing in a candidate. He's not vpting for McCain because he turns him off now, and he can't vote for Obama because he is a Democrat.

Apparently you have a firm grasp of the obvious. Thanks for sharing!

He can't vote for Obama because of single voter issues. Notice that he only voted yes on one prop., proposition 8 the gay marriage ban. So he is of the religiousity persuasion. Like that is such a hot button issue that banning gay marriage will help the California economy, Arnold now wants to borrow money from the feds to fix their budgetary crisis.

No on everything requiring a bond, but yes on 8. Amazing how libertarianism only extends to things that require funding. But the government intruding on consenting adults who want to marry? That's just fine.

so as long as this redstate guy told us everything he was voting for including his looney choice of bobby jindal for president, why didn't he reveal his stance on prop 4? too controversial even for him? too personal? but then why reveal his position on prop 8? or was he just afraid?

regardless, he's pretty pathetic.

I agree - why not vote for Obama if McCain is, as he correctly surmises, wrong for the ticket. This wasting of a vote is just lame. And his excuse seems to be Obama will win CA anyway. I have no respect for this author.

Probably because conservatives still believe in fiscal restraint and no gov. interference, they just find it inconsistent to vote for a race-baiting candidate with a VP who just was found guilty of violating state ethical laws, just because they want low taxes.

Conservatives from main street are without representation this year, because part of the whole "main street" appeal is honesty and integrity.

Because it's America and he has a right to his opinions and to vote for who he likes. Just glad it's not McCain/Palin.

Obama will win California, that's a no brainer. However, this author resides in a small part of California which is red.

I suspect that when this election is over, McCain/Palin will have driven many of the party faithful to be independents or to another party affiliation. The disgrace they brought on their party, and the stink of it will be a long time entrenched.

I've been a faithful, loyal Republican over 50 years: supported GOP political candidates in local, state and national elections with my time, name, influence and money. John MCain used to be a good man and I trusted him. He caved to the RIGHT and choose the LEAST qualified individual for V.P: over looked MANY. MANY good and qualified canadidates. If Sarah Palin is the best the GOP has to offer for the second highest, most powerful, and most important postion in the free world....then the GOP is in serious, serious, serious trouble !

This isn't the campaign of the John McCain I knew. This is a Bush/Rove/Cheney/RIGHT Winged campaign... and I'm sick of the lies, deceit, dishonesty, charater attacks, twisted facts, hate mongering and the invoking of Christianty and God to justify the misdeeds of OUR party leaders. Not to mention, the Bush administration and the GOP congress allowed our nation to fall into the most disasterious economic crisis in history. I've lost complete trust in the leadership of the GOP and their elected officials. Today, I doubt and distrust anything anyone says with the Republican label.

Come November 4th I'll PROUDLY cast my first Democratic vote in 54 years for Senator Obama, Senator Biden and EVERY OTHER DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE LISTED FOR ANY POSITION ON THE BALLOT!

God have mercy on this nation with Sarah Palin anywhere near the Oval Office.

We need NEW BLOOD controlling the GOP or its history!

Thank you for speaking about how you feel about your party. Thank you for realizing that McCain and Palin have "...caved to the right...." Obama is our only chance for real change.

I completely admire your courage and your ability to truly transcend partisan politics to go with the candidate that will be best suited for the job. It's hard to do that sometimes. Your vote is much appreciated.

Good for you! Loyalty to principles doesn't mean party loyalty. If you vote for your party no matter what, they have no reason to respect their constituents or act with honesty or integrity.

This is much more than a red v. blue thing this year; this is the year when a major party has the NERVE to put up a candidate who just got busted for an ethics violation and act like the opposing party candidate is some kind of criminal just for running against them.

Another rightwing LIE put to rest:

Obama did not ask to delay security agreement, Iraqi FM says

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) " Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama did not urge Iraqi officials to delay a decision on a security agreement with the United States, Iraq's foreign minister told CNN on Sunday.

The statement by Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari refutes a recent published report and a statement by Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin that Obama tried to influence Iraqi politicians negotiating with the United States to score political points.

Obama "never, ever discouraged us not to sign the agreement," Zebari said. "I think this was misrepresented, and I have clarified this case in a number of interviews back in the United States recently."

The only thing that will be proven to be disqualified is the McSame/Falin ticket. The only thing that ticket will win is an invitation to exit stage left. They couldn't pull a rabbit out the hat and their magic show is over.

That's why a million plus a million people have to vote for Obama. The margin has to be so great that the Rethugs can't flip it, because they certainly will try. Get everyone you know to get everyone they know to vote. This is the most important election in your lifetime, if not two lifetimes. Get your kids to call their grandparents in Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and all through the so-called battleground States to call their grandparents and beg and plead for them to vote for Obama/Biden. Use any means necessary, because we know that the Repug cheat machine will use any and all unnecessary means to steal this election. That will not only hurt you, it will hurt your children and your children's children for generations to come.

I have news for you Republicans.... vote for Obama now and open the way to vote for Bobby Jindal in 2012. I saw the way he handled the Hurricane emergency and John McCain should have picked him as Vice President. Of all the good people he had to choose from, he picked Palin. McCain and Palin probably don't even talk to each other because they have had contradicting positions on a lot of issues.

We all know why they didn't pick Jindal. Same reason they didn't pick Romney. Jindal is indian (too exotic) and Mittens is a mormon (those evangelicals wouldn't like that). They picked the white woman who talked like a 6th grader and made the worst decision of their careers.

gee, didn't realize there were ONLY TWO CHOICES.

McBama is a globalist hack for the New World Order and international bankers.

repeal FISA? nope
repeal Patriot Act? nope
repeal Military Commissions Act? nope
go against the Federal Reserve and restore constitutional money? nope
return to non-intervention? nope.

nothing else matters if the above isn't accomplished.
