I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Mccain

RedState co-founder Joshua Trevino writes on his blog that he can't bring himself to vote for the Republican ticket:

In the end, I couldn't do it. My California ballot arrived in the mail today, and I opened it fully intending to vote for John McCain. I filled out the state propositions first -- yes on 8, no on everything proposing a new bond or new spending -- then the local offices, straight Republican excepting Kevin Johnson for (nonpartisan) Sacramento mayor. Finally, the vote for President of the United States: an academic exercise in California, where Barack Obama will surely win by a crushing margin. But good citizenship demands voting as if it matters. Do I believe in John McCain? Not as much as I used to. Do I believe in Sarah Palin? Despite my early enthusiasm for her, now not at all. Do I believe in the national Republican Party? Not in the slightest -- even though I see no meaningful alternative to it. So, my choice for President in 2008, scrawled in my ballot as an act of futile protest, is Governor Bobby Jindal of Louisiana. If nothing else, I am confident this is the first of several votes I will cast for him in years to come.

I think it is amazing that a republican thinks he will be voting for Bobby Jindal, who looks more foreign than Obama ever will, for any spot on a republican ticket when the ra cis t, bi g ots have completely taken over their party. It took republicans over 20 years to do what Democrats did and place a woman on the ticket. Now how long do you think it will be before a Mel Martinez or Bobby Jindal thinks they can run for POTUS on the rac i st republican party banner?

By nature conservatives are pulled up the ladder of enlightenment kicking and screaming. Liberals always lead the way. Obama will open the door for Jindal because, above all, they want to win in order to secure self interest not to advance the country.

When I got to the end of this and read Bobby Jindal, my first thought was WTF???

I am ashamed of and for John McCain. And I am sick and tired of him playing the POW card and people need to start calling him on it.

"Mr President, why did you decide to bomb Paris?"

"Well, I was crazy but don't blame me because I was a POW!"

Jindal is a creationist right-winger. That's probably all there is to it. I guess as long as you're enough of a wingnut skin color doesn't count.

THe problem was they couldn't use him against Obama's "otherness". Because for these people at the McPalin rallies Jindal might be an extremist but he is also not white. They could not compare him to Obama, even though I agree he would have been a better pick than Palin.

Well, if YOUR party's candidate had really wanted to be a maverick, he would have thought about Bobby Jindal for VP---bright, articulate, has shown strong leadership skills, but.... A MAN OF COLOR....IF Obama wins, that would be a HUGE step forward for your write-in candidate. Instead, McCain listened to his Repug "advisors" (and I do use that term loosely) and picked a vapid, ignorant novice who has made your party seriously question his aptitude and decision-making abilities. He lost control of your party when he let them pick Palin and nothing he has done can reverse that idiotic decision.

McCain's problem with Jindal was during several interviews Jindal was asked what were the proposals put forth by McCain that provided a reason to vote for him as president. The stammering, followed by silence ended any consideration of him as Veep.

I think Jindl's reported participations in exorcisms early in his career sort of put the lid on his VP chances for now/McCain must have been surprised to find his eventual pick Sarah Palin was protected from witchcraft by her preacher. Mccain does have interesting associates.

Jindal would have been just as disastrous, maybe worse, than Sarah Palin.

So that proves what? Red State is ultra conservative noise machine. And one of its founders doesn't trust McPOW. OK...next?

I think that a lot of diehard Republicans are disillusioned by McCain and Palin. Unfortunately, I don't think most of them will take a stand and do what RedStater did. Probably the best that we can hope for is that they stay home on election day. A Repub not voting is a vota for Obama!

Go Obama! Go America!

I asked all my Bush supporting friends about McCain last April and their answer(along with their queasy look) was the same "Well, he's not my first choice". Their enthusiasm has since gone south from there....

There is an organized Republican backlash to McCain's candidacy. Dwight David Eisenhower's daughter is a member.

So what's his problem with McCain? Not right-wing enough? Not culture warrior enough? Inquiring minds want to know.

Republicans want a one world order. Is that what you want? McCain will be pretty well on the same page as McCain. We need a new party & to eliminate the Republican party, the blue dogs, & Nancy Impeachment is off the table, Pelosi. We need more Dennis Kucinich's & Roon Paul's. And receipts for everytime we vote.

I believe that "likely voter" polls are missing this phenomenon entirely. These polls assume that lifelong Republicans will vote McCain/Palin. But many of them won't this year. They are as disgusted and disillusioned as the rest of us with their candidates.

This financial mess promises to being on a new rash of demonic possessions, so Jindal may
be too busy to run for anything.

(hey Trevino, hope you are the one caught on the next bridge that crashes since you don''t support
you know, taxes, for stuff like that)

Nah, just one that doesn't think McCain's on board with their idea of government. (Plus even pond scum knows Palin is not qualified)I told Republican friends last March that this was the year to vote their conscience. No way McCain would get it so speak your piece.

Not a fully developed one though - he states he voted for Proposition 8 - in california that will make g*y marriage illegal in the state's constitution - I just married my partner of 11 years in June and would like to keep that union alive.

Yes on 8 and Bobby Jindal?uh oh! McCain is losing the moronic homophobes! What e'er shall he do? If these people stop showing up at his rally's it'll be just him and Sarah and her husband Teller yelling "who is Barack Obama" at an echo.

I think we need to make this well known on all the right-wing blogs.

"Josh Trevino, founder of RedState...couldn't vote for McCain...he wrote in Bobby Jindal"

Pretty simple. If it turns off enough extreme rightwing voters in States like Georgia, North Carolina, Missouri, Florida, etc. it could make a difference.

Thanks Josh.

my point made. Its not about liking or disliking Obama...how can you vote for McCain. He stinks majorly for all involved.

You, sir, are a man whose world view has not acquitted itself with the test of time. The kindest thing I can say of you is that you are irrelevant.

And I wish to thank you for squandering your vote, thus proving my point. ( see sentence above )
