McClatchy:

Barring a dramatic change in the political landscape over the next three weeks, Democrats appear headed toward a decisive victory on Election Day that would give them broad power over the federal government.

...

Former Reagan political adviser Ed Rollins likened today's landscape to that in 1980, when voters were angry at President Jimmy Carter and the Democrats and turned to Reagan in droves once they felt comfortable with the idea of him as president.

"Barack has met the threshold," Rollins said. "Once Reagan met the threshold, people wanted to get rid of Carter and they did in a landslide. This is going to turn into a landslide."

Remember a day is a week in politics, hate to say it but things can go wrong, something comes up etc. Best just hope for a win. I am not sure I could handle it if Obama loses so I will probably worry about it until 11/5

I never thought I'd see a day where I could hope Ed Rollins is correct in his analysis. But then I never thought I'd see a day where my entire life savings were eaten up by Reagan's trickle down theory.
Trickle down? Just another phrase for pee on my leg and tell me its raining.
Landslide ahead. Gobama!

Dont believe a word of this landslide hype. Play like its 4th down with 4 yards to go.

Call me cynical. But when Republican pundits come out with statements like this they are:
1) Get their people out to vote.
2) Trick democrats into becoming complacent and staying at home

They are also laying the groundwork for their post-election spin. If Obama wins by a landslide, they can say they saw it coming. If the race is anything less than a landslide, they will go on about how McCain did much better than they thought.

However, things like this just make me more and more excited to cast my vote for Obama/ Biden.

Why is McCain still campaigning in Iowa? His internal numbers must be showing something remarkably different than the independent pollsters, since he's getting crushed there. Seems like a weird way to spend time and money.

I get uneasy when people start trumpeting a landslide. We don't know what stunts the Republicans might pull;when it comes to stealing elections, they're professionals. I will be on pins and needles until November 5.

Obama will win in a landslide. The mainstream media have decided. And what the mainstream media say goes, we all know that by now.

Hey whatever happened to Jack Cafferty? Has he been forced by CNN, with pressure from the GOP, to stay low after the Sarah Palin comment about her being very very ill-prepared for VP?

I live in an overwhelmingly republican state of Ky.
Am I going to stay home on election day because my vote for Obama/Biden doesn't stand a chance?
No Fricken way.........................
Get out and vote!

Nice try, Rollins. Let me guess. This is for McCain supporters whose support has gone a little tired, it is meant to rejuvenate them; and it is for those who are vulnerable to the kind of pr0p0ganda Palin and McCain have been pushing about Obama, it is meant to scare them half to de@th.

I wish people would stop saying he'll win by a landslide...you are just setting him up for failure. This is just the sort of talk that will let people think they can stay home and not vote. That will usher in McCain and Palin as POTUS and VPOTUS. WE need people to think EVERY vote will count and make sure EVERY person goes out and VOTES!!!

This kind of talk is an attempt to lull Obama's supporters into taking it easy. Don't believe it. It will be a tight, hard-fought election. Every vote will count. We all need to work to get out every vote we can.

I drove 70 miles to volunteer for Obama this past weekend - the first time I've ever volunteered for any candidate.
Now is not the time to become complacent. Just because it looks likely that Obama will win, don't depend on someone else to do the work of actually voting him into office.
GET OUT AND VOTE!
All of you younger people in your late teens and 20's who have registered to vote for the first time, get up on your young legs and knock on doors. The rest of us who are older need to make phone calls. Go to Sen. Obama's website and find out what you can do in your communities. Come on people, there are only 22 days left. Let's not relax just yet.

Same here, my states is a lock for Obama so I've been driving to Indiana every weekend since Aug. I've been voting since 1972 and this is the first time I've volunteered.
