Boston Globe Endorses Obama: "The One To Lead The Way"

Boston Globe   |  Editorial   |   October 13, 2008 07:56 PM

COME JANUARY, a new president will take charge of a nation diminished, an America that is far shakier economically, less secure militarily, and less respected internationally than it was eight years before. The nation needs a chief executive who has the temperament and the nerves to shepherd Americans through what promises to be a grueling period -- and who has the vision to restore this country to its place of leadership in the world.

Such a leader is at hand. With great enthusiasm, the Globe endorses Senator Barack Obama for president. The charismatic Democrat from Illinois has the ability to channel Americans' hopes and rally the public together, at a time when the winds are picking up and the clouds keep on darkening.

I'm sure that people like Warmglobe are really impressed with McCain's skill at crashing planes:

Honestly, how can anyone who researches all the facts believe that someone as reckless as McCain could run his favorite gambling joint, let alone the country?

Through it great endorsement of Obama, the Boston Globe follows the proud tradition of its state and citizen leading the way foward whether on equal rights for gays and lesbians or on health care as a right!

May history record those who were on the right side as the nation tried to repair it many socio-economic wounds on Nov/4th/2008

Warmglobe asks me: Can we please see the list of Obama's experience and accomplishments?..where is that?

Is Warmglobe unable, or simply unwilling, to google anything other than Republican cant? I've posted a couple of links under the question - it took me all of 5 seconds to find the information and there is much, much more for anyone who can be bothered to look.

What a shocker huh?..the Boston Globe Endorses Obama....if you actually read the editorial there is something significantly missing from it..it doesn't list one qualification or "experience" that the man has selling him as the answer to all of our woes....not one. It is filled with the usual dribble that all of the other kool-aid drinkers for Obama say...but not one solid fact, experience, or anything that makes him qualified to be president.

I wasn't subjected to any party's propaganda when I was growing up, so I read it all, left and right. My conclusion now is that hardcore Republicans are simply incapable of seeing anything other than their own narrow and closed-minded point of view (apologies to those like Dennis Hopper who are brave enough to switch to the side of reason - I don't mean you).
I very much doubt that any Republican would read past the first line of something like this:

...because they simply can't take the truth. That's why they're so enraged now.

If you spend 3 years as a community organizer growing your
organization from a staff of 1 to 13 and your budget from $70,000 to
$400,000, then become the first black President of the Harvard Law
Review, create a voter regstration drive that registers 150,000 new
African Amerian voters, spend 12 years as a Constitutional Law
professor, then spend nearly 8 more years as a State Senator
representing a district with over 750,000 people, becoming chairman of
the state Senate's Health and Human Services committee, then spend
nearly 4 years in the United States Senate representing a state of
nearly 13 million people, sponsoring 131 bills and serving on the
Foreign Affairs, Environment and Public Works and Veteran's Affairs
committees, you are woefully inexperienced.
If you spend 4 years on the city council and 6 years as the mayor of a
town with less than 7,000 people, then spend 20 months as the governor
of a state with 650,000 people, you've got the most executive
experience of anyone on either ticket, are the Commander in Chief of
the Alaska military and are well qualified to lead the nation should
you be called upon to do so because your state is the closest state to
Russia.

Do these endorsements really mean anything or are they just symbolic, and an effort to sell more papers?

In addition, in the print edition of the Boston Globe, right below the Obama endorsement, is a shorter McCain "un-endorsement":

I worry first things first won't get handled in the technical way we scientifically get out of wars.
The best way out of danger is to change your normal routeen.
No matter how hard it may seem for any of these new leaders in the wings waiting to jump in and heal the world, someone in our current administration better start debriefing the next in line for what ever their new mission is set to accomplish. Hopefully it is for the betterment of the most number of people involved. To improve the falling infrastructure, to halt a war that has run its course - to re-organize the state of the union, or to assist mankind in America, we need a better understanding of how to survive in a new time, and we need to start evaluating our future by not waiting for the next body of knowledge over dramatizing the energy of our individual purpose. We must intensely restimulate our confidence as the strongest nation on earth and use this as our excuse ( if necessary) to get things done. As we all change our selves, there is one thing that remains the same - and that is the way the human condition observes anything and nothing. It might be a good time to remember when things were going the best for us analytically in a very good working order, and try and duplicate this application to what is going on in our lives today.

I looked at the link someone posted regarding the wikipedia list of Obama's endorsements and wow, it IS impressive. Then out of curiosity I looked at wiki's list of McCain's endorsements and it's pathetic in comparison. A lot of McCain's endorsements need citations, so there's not even any proof that they're real...and the absence of scientists and foreign political leaders (Europe in particular is strongly behind Obama) is very telling.
Anyone with even a grain of common sense can see that Obama must be the choice for the US; all we can do is hope that common sense finally settles on the American people.
