Kenny Chesney Sings About Renee Zellweger Breakup

Country singer Kenny Chesney has a new album out called "Lucky Old Sun," which he wrote after and about his breakup with Renee Zellweger. The pair married in May 2005 after having just met in January of that year. The marriage was annulled after four months with Zellweger citing fraud.

In a Q&A about the album with Newsweek, Chesney brings up Zellweger with the interviewer:

One of your songs is called "Nowhere to Go, Nowhere to Be." Is that a theme of your album?
It's the root of the record, for sure. In 2006, I was probably as emotionally and mentally exhausted as I'd ever been. And that was due to a lot of things--having the foot on the gas pedal constantly, and my breakup with Renee Zellweger. I got in a plane and went down to the Virgin Islands. I was completely by myself. I didn't want to be around anybody. So the next thing you know, it's me and a pen and I sat down and wrote a lot of lines of this song, "Nowhere to Go, Nowhere to Be."

Didn't you worry about writing about your breakup with Renee?
It's the truth. It's my life. I've been in a lot of states of mind in the last three years. In that way, it's a pretty honest record. I've let myself be more emotionally vulnerable in some of the lyrics. I think that was good therapy.

Are you still heartbroken?
Not at all. I already wrote those songs. I'm on to something else.

How long did it take for you to heal?
It was horrible. It took a while. Years. It's been since 2005.

How do you think Renee will react?
I have no idea. I don't know. It's unpredictable.

Do you still talk to her?
No. Well, every now and then. I don't want to say this whole record is about her.

Are you dating someone else now?
Oh, yeah.

Oh Please!! The only time Chesney's been seen with a woman in the last 10 years was when he releases a new album. He was just spotted in Malibu with some blonde... just in time for his press tour promoting another sappy batch of songs written on a beach some place. Its sad that he can't sustain a genuine relationship with anyone of any gender.

I don't care if he's gay or not but 'fraud' doesn't necessarily mean that he's gay. Maybe they checked that for some other reason ... I mean it can't always automatically mean that one of the participants in the marriage is gay does it? Maybe one of them cheated ... that would be a form of fraud. Who knows.

Short version: She realized she was married to a dumb, clod-kicking cowboy, and bailed.

I recommend the same step for any man or woman who finds themselves hitched to anyone who wears one of those ridiculous hats and subscribes to the sappy, maudlin cowboy view of life, since it's basically a flunked IQ test. Gay or not, they're still cowboys.

Those are some big words coming from someone who supports murdering babies and supports stealing money from someone who earns it and giving it to someone who doesn't. That's big words from a party this is involved in some of the largest cases of voter registration fraud in U.S. history. That is some big words coming from a party that thinks it's the government's responsibility to take care of you from the cradle to the grave. There is nothing wrong with being a Republican. There is some questions as to the morality of being a Democrat.

I figured it was just a PR stunt. They used to be common in Hollywood. Nowadays, hook ups are the thing. As for Chesney, country music needs to get real. How many "real" cowboys are there anyway? Chesney would have to ride Shetland ponies. As for Renee, she might be like Julia Roberts who took a while to settle down. In any case, hope both find happiness.

Kenny Chesney's orientation has been a topic of discussion within the gay community ever since he befriended Elton John. "Fraud" in a divorce settlement doesn't refer to monetary holdings. Connect the dots.

In any event, what's really sad and messed up is that a popular Country Music musician still cannot be openly gay and have a career.
