Support

Two new polls show the breadth of Barack Obama's recent surge of support in traditionally red states.

SurveyUSA finds Obama approaching a double-digit lead in Missouri, where McCain has held a solid advantage for much of the campaign. According to today's poll, Obama leads 51 percent to 43 percent, with a 4.3 percent margin of error. McCain led 48-46 in the previous SUSA poll from late September.

Meanwhile, in North Dakota, the Public Affairs Institute finds Obama slightly edging out McCain 45 percent to 43 percent.

Among voters who rank the economy as their top concern, 49 percent favor Obama, while 38 percent back McCain. The economy was far and away the most important national issue among voters, according to the poll, even though a majority regarded their own economic situation as "better off" or the "same" compared to a year ago.

Another troubling sign in the poll for McCain, who has styled himself as a maverick who is not a clone of President Bush: McCain has failed to solidify his hold on the GOP base in North Dakota, where he has the support of just 73 percent of voters identifying themselves as strong Republicans.

Kos has some additional North Dakota analysis here.

In other battleground news, the latest Marist polls show Obama leading in Pennsylvania (53-41) and Ohio (49-44) -- both of those leads are about double the size of the Marist polls taken last month.

This is all great news. . .but let's follow Obama's lead and keep working like we're down by 15! The only poll that counts is the one on November 4th!

Let's BURY McCain/Palin and the GOP brand so deep they won't be able to dig themselves out for another 40 years!

Give Obama/Biden the MANDATE FOR CHANGE America needs!

Remember: Clinton was ahead in the polls by 18 points, and won by 6. Carter was ahead by 12 points, and won by 3. There is a phenomenon out there of the "vanishing democratic vote" on election day

Every vote is going to count. Every donation is going to count. Every hour spent as a volunteer is going to count.

I have been trying for weeks to tell people that Obama will carry Missouri. I got laughed at. I'm one of those ground volunteeers, knocking on doors, registering people to vote. I'm telling you, I KNOW wha is going on here and I'm telling you, once again, Obama will take Missouri. In fact, Obama will get 330 electoral votes. You heard it here first.

I've been saying the same thing for a month....Missouri will be blue this year. Tell you something else, lots of Obama signs across the line in Kansas......Don't think it will go blue, but I think it will be closer than most realize.

I live in VERY republican Scottsdale, Arizona. Usually, this time of year, signs are posted in half of the front yards - virtually all in support of republicans. This year, one. One solitary McCain/Palin sign. Granted, there aren't any Obama/Biden sigs but Obama voters are afraid to speak out lest the righties shout us down FOX News style. I suspect there are a lot of secret Obama supporters in McCain's home state. Arizona may be a squeaker.

330 would be nice cmilburn,... but just give me one more than half of those pesky electoral votes for Obama,... and that would be enough for my satisifaction.

Down to three weeks now folks,... keep your powder dry!

yes...well....it IS possible this may end up being a landslide victory.....

mccain has too many states which need defending right now. For goodness sake, look at some of the states on the current list:

Indiana
Virginia (sorta....)
West Virginia
Missouri
Florida
North Carolina
North Dakota
...even South Carolina.....

...besides the usuals Ohio, etc.

a republican cannot possibly succeed when they have to be fighting for their lives in those particular states with so little time left....

plus...republicans are runnin' out of money...and Obama/Biden almost has more campaign $ than it knows what to do with....

excellent......

This is all nice to hear, but I am not going to celebrate too soon. Anything may happen. I also heard Obama is ahead in W. VA as well. Who'd have thought!

Exactly...the news is great...couldn't be much better...but as we know....things always tighten up towards election day. Not good to count your chickens, etc....but...

mccain/palin doesn't have what it takes to possibly turn this around....they have just proven their lameness time and time again....

but that doesn't mean it won't be fairly close....

Whoooo-hooooo! I love to see red states go blue. It means people are really thinking and not voting their party just because! When I read things like this I feel that maybe there is hope for America.

LOL
I will cut up my credit cards if Obama wins North Dakota. I grew up there. I'm finding it very hard to believe that he is even within the margin of error.
