Support

Two new polls show the breadth of Barack Obama's recent surge of support in traditionally red states.

SurveyUSA finds Obama approaching a double-digit lead in Missouri, where McCain has held a solid advantage for much of the campaign. According to today's poll, Obama leads 51 percent to 43 percent, with a 4.3 percent margin of error. McCain led 48-46 in the previous SUSA poll from late September.

Meanwhile, in North Dakota, the Public Affairs Institute finds Obama slightly edging out McCain 45 percent to 43 percent.

Among voters who rank the economy as their top concern, 49 percent favor Obama, while 38 percent back McCain. The economy was far and away the most important national issue among voters, according to the poll, even though a majority regarded their own economic situation as "better off" or the "same" compared to a year ago.

Another troubling sign in the poll for McCain, who has styled himself as a maverick who is not a clone of President Bush: McCain has failed to solidify his hold on the GOP base in North Dakota, where he has the support of just 73 percent of voters identifying themselves as strong Republicans.

Kos has some additional North Dakota analysis here.

In other battleground news, the latest Marist polls show Obama leading in Pennsylvania (53-41) and Ohio (49-44) -- both of those leads are about double the size of the Marist polls taken last month.

It's not over until the polls close on election day. There is still a lot of work to do.

Get out and volunteer with the campaign, They still need to make sure that people return their mail in ballots and get to the polls. Lots of phone calls and canvassing.

Please do not get complacent ,three weeks is a long time in politics. Go out and vote today or tommorow if your state permits. Those who have to go on November 4th should check with your local voters registration office to make sure your name is on the list, dont wait until the last minute. Go out and vote on November 4th and take several people with you.Even if it rains, stll wait and vote. Many polls open at 7am,go early. Finally ,volunteers should go to states such a Ohio,Missouri,Pennslyvania,Virginia,North Carolina ,Florida,Nevada,Wisconsin,Colorado and Georgia. Get out the vote volunteers are needed in those states. Also attorneys are needed so people can be protected and are not intimidated. Obama\Biden 2008 Lets go now, right now.

We can stop working hard to get Obama elected after his inauguration for a second term.

I have been watching CNN and I have not seen them call the election for Obama. Just Dana Bash lobbing softball questions at McCain. I guess she will get her invitation to the next Sedona BBQ.

The Dow is up, gasoline is down - be wary. The neocons will try to steal this election as usual by staging such conditions. Is there a staged late Oct "foreign policy" international surprise waiting in the wings? JM said he knows how to catch Bin Laden in his second debate - does that mean there is a staged media event waiting? It will be typical Rove tactics.

I agree -- it's always been strangely convenient that gas prices go down during elections (altho' that didn't seem to help in 2006). As for Bin Laden -- his influence in American politics is far too great. Hopefully, people have figured out that fear of terrorism doesn't justify voting for an idiot.

Just saw the headline on North Dakota! Wow! I have lived in the state for 50 years and can't remember the last time we went Democratic! I am so excited and proud and am spreading the word so more of us Obama supporters get out and do some serious campaigning to turn this state BLUE!

Wow. Missouri is telling enough. But North Dakota? Not to mention Virginia, North Carolina...maybe even Indiana? Talk about a red state takeover. Just wow...

Pour it on, Barack. Pour it on!

(And let's the rest of us help him pour it on too...)

Though I wish, Obama will not win Ohio. Very conservative WASP between Cincinnati and Cleveland.s

He just may. OH has Nader and Barr on the ballot (correct?), in which case, they may chip off McCain's support by 1-2%, combined. In this race, N and B seem to have a tendency to attract some dissatisfied McCain voters.

Yet no from the podium says a word to pacify the hatred, the evil that is spewed!
They smile they welcome such disgust such loathing! They thrive on it!
Are these leaders of the free world? Are these intelligent and benevolent people that we want our children to follow and learn from? They act like political harlots, would be Christians that are no where
near what I as a Christian would acknowledge to be Christian!

“Kill him”
Their eyes light up, their teeth grind and sparkle!

Look up the word “fascist”- you will find their definition there!
