ABC :

John McCain and his vice presidential running mate, Sarah Palin, have introduced a kinder, gentler campaign against Barack Obama as the Republican duo has slipped farther behind in the polls with only three weeks left until Election Day.

The latest Washington Post/ABC News poll indicates that Obama is pulling away from McCain, establishing a 10-point lead in the race for the White House by a commanding 53 percent to 43 percent.

Hello to all commentators,

All the commercials, pundits, gaffes, personal attacks, and the MSM will not dictate the outcome of this election. THE GROUND GAME IS WHERE ELECTIONS ARE WON, AND LOST!

Before you go to the next left leaning article to comment on, or right leaning article to start an argument with a repug (which will no doubt end with them calling you an unpatriotic socialist wimp) I suggest that you get in the game.

Please visit my personal fundraising page below:

If you cannot afford to donate money there are many other ways to help below :

Take a look. It is a lot of fun, and very satisfying to get involved. You will really feel as though you are making a difference.

Thanks Craig

John McCain is on a teater toter to defeat. If he steps one or two steps to the left to apeal to the indipendant or moderate Democrates, he risks pissing off the base (did you hear them boo when he tried to defend Obama?). If he steps one or two steps to the right to woo the base, he loses the support of the independants. And if he tries to balance precariously between the two, he may lose a protion of both. No matter what, baring a terrorist attack on US soil or out right theft of the election, he will not be able to appeal to enough voters to pull this off.

Somewhat unrelated note. My car is sporting a new bumper sticker. I saw it at market today and just had to have it. Ripped off my old Obama sticker. Now my rear bumper reads:

THAT one/Biden 08.

Thanks, Johnny :P

Like the classic profile of an abuser/bully....McCain is returning with his 'promises' of future good behavior. These type people 'shape up' only for control of their intended target. They play nice only until they can resume their abusing, lying, twisting of information, derailing all conversations, etc.

This type personality NEVER changes. They only manipulate. Total control and dominance is their game

Reagan was "The Great Communicator"

McCain is "The Great Manipulator"

Has anyone noticed that McCain's friends have been missing from the scene lately? Where are Lieberman and Romney? They have been his biggest cheerleaders since the convention but over the last couple of weeks, they have been nearly invisible.

Romney is watching this and can't believe his freakin' eyes.

I hope he learns the pitfalls of negative campaigning though. He can come of a bit like a jerk because he goes quite negative, but he does have good economic credentials, so he has got to be a bit appauled at the mishandling of the many many many announcements of "a new plan -- no really this time."

Palin's thinking...I wish I had a stronger running mate. Rest assured, I won't make this mistake in 2012.

Remember McC cited Rev. Lewis as one of three people whose advice he would seek out, back at the religious forum.

Time's Karen Tumulty spent some time in Virginia this week covering the ground game in that battleground state, and happened upon an interesting little scene.

In McCain's Gainesville, Va., office, Virginia Republican Party Chairman Jeff Frederick, standing on a folding chair, spoke to 30 campaign volunteers who were about to go canvassing door to door.

He gave them "talking points," Tumulty writes, "for instance, the connection between Barack Obama and Osama bin Laden."

Said Frederick: "Both have friends that bombed the Pentagon," in a reference to Obama acquaintance William Ayers. "That is scary."

Added a woman: "And he won't salute the flag."

Too little too late. He's not changing, he's just relaxing before he dives in again

More Republicans need to denounce this thug, these aren't enough

Thanks for that. I wish I could let things like that go and not let them haunt me. It opened my eyes to the knowledge that there are some really uninformed (and really scary) people out there. If we had some leadership or if McCain removed these people from his audiences, this type of thing would stop.

That woman stinks of hatred and bigotry. She must go back to Alaska. She has no honor, decency or morality. She is uncapable of being gentle...she is crude in and out.

I call BS on this story. Most polls show McCain is closer -- not further away -- to Obama since last week. There was no quote from McCain, Palin, or their campaign about a change in tone. It's just more HuffPo slander. Since when was the last time you looked at an ABC poll over Gallup, Zogby, or Rasmussen?

Kinder, gentler ? Lying didn't work and that's in their character. Now they want to try kinder, gentler? May be that's the foreign experience Palin was talking about that she has, because kinder, gentler is about as foreign to her and Mc Cain as truth!
