PHOTOS: Madonna Premieres "Filth And Wisdom" With Celebrity Friends

Monday Madonna took a night off from her Sticky & Sweet Tour to premiere "Filth and Wisdom," which she directed. Joining her were Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber, Brooke Shields, Jessica Alba and Lindsay Lohan. Not there was husband Guy Ritchie, who is currently in London filming the new Sherlock Holmes movie.

The film first premiered in February at the Berlin Film Festival. Here are photos of some of the celebrities who came out to support her Monday night and, perhaps more surprising for such a perfectionist, a close-up of Madonna's upper lip hair.

This is fascinating to me - & I'm not too embarassed to admit it - coz New York magazine recently had a long, sort of incomprehensible article about the 'new' new face in which Madonna featured prominently. Seems the cost of these 'new' faces is somewhere around $30,000.

Since I'm 1 year younger than Madonna, it's kind of encouraging to see that age-related imperfections don't seem so easily eradicated - even w/ shitloads of money...

I've been fortunate enough to have seen Ella Fitzgerald,Sarah Vaughn,Phoebe Snow and Judy Collins perform. This Madonna woman can't sing. I can't understand the popularity. She should be swinging around a pole in some cheesy Route 46 go-go joint.

Oh cut the crud. She absolutely can sing. Youtube her Academy Award performance of Sooner Or Later. She blows the roof off the joint vocally. Then Youtube the Evita song Lament from her 2004 tour. Again, vocally powerful. She can sing well when she isn't dancing her butt off. The greatest single myth in music is that she can't sing. She isn't Babs but she is good.

100% accurate. She has a great, unique voice. Very good lower register. Anyone who doubts she can sing should listen to that 1991 Academy Award performance. She proves the doubters wrong.

That being said, I can do without her politics. She supports those who support abortion after releasing the anti-abortion song "Papa Don't Preach". I refuse to buy her CD's because she supports the Gore's, Kerry's, Clinton's and Obama's of the world.

Big deal, she's got a bit of facial hair. People, Fix news was up in arms over the Newsweek cover of Palin with facial hair. So what? I thought it was ridiculous for them to get so offended over it. We all have it, and most of us are lucky enough not to have pictures take of us so closely.

this is all second hand gossip, of course, but maybe the photos have a real significance after all. has it occurred to anyone that just possibly madge is using some kind of growth hormone or whatever to boost her muscle mass? could it be masculinizing? it's just rank speculation, but i have to admit the thought crossed my mind at some point. i know she works out a lot, but even in the ranks of the pro body builders, haven't there been those who use performance enhancers? new ones come on the market everyday, all perfectly legal. after all madonna is so cutting edge. but the fact that her personality has gotten a bit dodgy might be related, right? she is a towering, staggering mess in some ways. like the way she sounded off against sarah palin. it was rank name calling. i mean, there would be plenty of ways to put palin down that are 100% ok with me, but madonna was like a street fighter in an alley way somewhere. it wasn't cool. madonna is a real sacre monstre at this point. maybe from here on out. she's fascinating, sure, and a really great marketer of herself, but in a lot of ways, she doesn't get it. mustache? what's with that pin on her shirt? it's so michael jackson, so 'royalty'. puhleeeze.
