Tina Fey Sarah Palin

Tina Fey told TVGuide she'll be "done" if John McCain and Sarah Palin win the election next month.

The "SNL" veteran who has come back to play the Republican Vice Presidential candidate (and whose own show, "30 Rock," is still nowhere to be seen), said, "We're gonna take it week by week. If she wins, I'm done. I can't do that for four years. And by 'I'm done,' I mean I'm leaving Earth."

Fey also said it's a busy but exciting time for "SNL."

"Election time is always good for [SNL] and this is a bonkers election," she said. "And that lady is a media star. She is a fascinating person, she's very likeable. She's fun to play, and the two bits with Amy [Poehler], that was super fun," Fey says.

For the full story, pick up the October 20th issue of TV Guide, plus the following week's issue (October 27th) featuring TV Guide's cover story on 30 Rock's Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin.

TINA Fey is the luckiest woman in America and you could not run her off if McCain prevails. She has never been this poplar .

But, we can try.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:44 AM on 10/16/2008

Tina you rock! I too have mentioned leaving the country if McCain wins. (hard to get a seat on the Shuttle) I pray it does not come to pass. I have already told my boss that if Obama wins I will come to work dancing and singing. If McCain wins I'm calling in sick. We will all need a day in bed to contemplate what that would mean for the next four years and also have a good cry!!!!!!!

I suggest you don't skip work. With dedication you can work your way up the ladder, make a better income and not need to vote for a socialist like Obama.

Karen59, you are completely ignorant. Read the comments above, you dimwit, many of us in the highest income bracket VOTE DEMOCRAT! Sorry to burst your pathetic, ignorant, ill-informed and uneducated assumptions! My DEMOCRAT friends and I all have at least one degree from an Ivy League institution (google that in case you don't know what that is).

Get off your high horse because it isn't even high.

Your theory of hard work and dedication equating with salary pretty much falls apart when you consider that teachers are currently among the lowest paid in our country. I'm a teacher and, let me tell you, if I got paid according to how hard I work and how much dedication I show my students, I'd be so super rich I might even vote Republican!

Why don't you just quit work altogether and collect our tax dollars by way of welfare payment to keep you in the lap of luxury?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:44 AM on 10/16/2008

You've hit the nail on the head, citizen. If McCain gets elected more people WILL have to go on welfare, not because they're lazy but because they're broke.

Promises, promises. Tina Fey's clearly been hanging around Alec Baldwin too long. He made numerous promises to leave the country if George Bush won, yet we still have him! I say, "don't let the door hit you in the ass!" When will Hollywood types realize that when they open their big mouths regarding their political beliefs (especially when not asked) they lose fans. At least half of their viewers are conservatives.

Glad to see I'm not the only one here who doesn't like Fey. I noticed a little bit at a time that she seemed to have a dislike of women that showed up in her work. Then I saw an episode of 30 Rock that was so shockingly ugly and obvious in its misogyny that it sealed my opinion of what Fey represents. (It was an episode with Carrie Fisher, and I'm sure Fey would think she was being controversial in the way comedians are controversial...so maybe she is right and she should go hang with Andrew Dice Clay.) In my opinion, and ironically, Fey is not far from Palin in this respect. At least Palin is more obvious about her mixed feelings about femaleness!

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 06:49 PM on 10/15/2008

I agree with Househunter completely. (Matt Damon comes to mind). Acting ability does not conote any sort of expertise regarding politics. Regardless, we don't want to hear it. Actors should stick to acting, share their opinions with their friends and recognize that publicizing their political views comes with a price, the loss of half (whichever half) of their viewers or fans.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:42 PM on 10/15/2008

Get over it. Palin deserves to be made fun of because she is a joke. And, whether you like it or not, people listen to Hollywood types.

So WHY are they all still here? Even THEY can't keep their promises!

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:44 AM on 10/16/2008

Her nomination as VP and the subsequent restictions on who was idealogically suitable to interview her made even the GWB days look vaguely enlightened. I would've loved to have seen Jeremy Paxman of BBC's Newsnight programme rip her to shreds in his sharp, probing style...her head would've unraveled from the bun down, revealing a chrome skull of gears, flashing LEDs and a loop of sound files repeating "you betcha" and other folksy Alaskan cyborg uzi-mom ramblings.

Republicans have made it abundantly clear by voting for George the Lesser TWICE that they are not capable of making sound presidential election decisions. They now disown W and act as if they never voted for him. They have convinced themselves and are trying to convince others that they now have sound judgment! The fact that they can't see through the McCain-Palin charade is evidence that they still have the same myopic and deluded vision. They weren't able to see through W's litany of lies, deceit, and ineptitude for eight years, what makes them or anyone else think that they can suddenly see clearly now? They act as if it was someone else who voted and supported the administration they now have such disdain for.

Obama is going to win. My concern is after he does, will Republicans will stop being Republicans first (their "country first" motto is a hollow one) and start being Americans and put our country's interest first? I'm rather doubtful I'm afraid judging from their past and current hate filled behavior.

The stakes couldn't be higher. Stop the hate. As Lincoln said, "A house divided against itself cannot stand."

You are so right. What rightwingers are unfortunately succeeding at is letting Bush take the blame rather than their ideology. It's a huge mistake on the part of those of us who are sane to let them get away with that without a fight. Hannity, Limbaugh, O'Reilly, etc. (Heritage, AEI, etc.) are still in business, somehow bringing blame on "the liberals" for the results of THEIR ideology and everything they've promoted being carried out to the tee. They intensely promoted, backed, and defended Bush every step of the way. The fact they still have enough credibility with a certain demographic to remain on the air shows they're not being held accountable by the market for their role in The Disaster. We should not let this happen.

And I also agree on your next point: these guys are just chomping at the bit to start shooting the spitballs from the back of the classroom at the adult party trying to pay the bills and clean up the mess.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 05:19 PM on 10/15/2008

I believe you're right: the general ideology you are referring to has flaws. (As for recent policy, then the flaws become deadly.) And I agree, the Hannity's and Limbaugh's, O'Reilly's, etc... are pretty despicable in their outrageous rantings.

Where you and I part ways, however, is that although I disagree with the "demographic" to whom these media figures appeal regarding many issues, I agree with that demographic regarding some other issues. In 30 years of voting I've only once voted for a Republican, but I don't agree with Democrat ideologies across-the-board. Even on the issues where I disagree with Republican friends and family, I can respect their viewpoints. I think to do otherwise, and to demonize people who have different points of view begins to risk becoming like another Hannity, O'Reilly, and the rest (including that grandiose, foaming-at-the-mouth oaf, Olberman).

I wonder too, how you conclude that Republicans alone are responsible for the financial crisis. Congress coddled Fannie and Freddie to the extent that some are calling it criminal neglect. Republicans and Dems alike were the beneficiaries of $175 million that Fannie and Freddie spent on lobbying, and $5 million in contributions. Both their boards were full of both Republican and Democratic politically connected folks. (Rick Davis, McCain's campaign manager, was on the payroll.)

But, I am weary of the finger pointing. It's as if that has become our new national pastime. I like what Saidas said above, quoting Lincoln about unity.

Those right-wingers that chant hateful and threatnning statements towards public officials in public, should be prosecuted with the full force of the law.

Democracy must be protected and defended.

The poll numbers should be in the doubles digits for Barry a.k.a Obama since the media has been long in the tank for him.... we all saw the nonsense during the Primary... Seriously he should be in Double Digits so I think he's nervous...

You mean America should be nervous (including you if you live here)? I can't believe any sane person would consider voting for a Republican after The Disaster.

As a female, mother, and loving wife i believe i have somehow missed the point. Am i to wholeheartedly endorse this woman simply because she is a woman? I find no substance in her words and i feel disrespected as a woman and a human being at the thought that she could in some form be a replacement of HRC. I don't know who is doing the thinking for this strategy but it is completely lost on me and I wish Palin would just answer the question any question just Answer>dot

I agree, liy. It is insulting to ALL of us that McCain thought putting a perky, ex-beauty queen on the platform would be enough to satisfy voters who would like to see a woman in the White House other than being a wife to the Pres or VP. She is now saying the media is trying to shut her out(?!) when she won't give interviews or even answer a few questions. Unless she knows it's purely going to be a promotional appearance (as on Limbaugh), she and/or the McCain Camp must know she won't do well on impromptu question and answer.

No and that is the point You (we all) are supposed to be able to vote for and stand by whom ever we want ... without the hate.

We all are supposed to be able to vote for anyone we believe is right for oursekves or family but to bash a Gov. because she is a woman or because of the way she speaks (an accent) which if she was a person of color no one would bash the way she speaks or to bash her because she's a good human being well sisters that any gonna fly.... Not with me and not with thousands of people.

Sexism (cause thats all this is) bashing or bashing because of her value structure and hard work is not not acceptable, I'll do the dance and I'll stand up to anyone - anywhere who bashes this woman ... I'm a female and I'm not havin it.

It is the opinion and thousands of others that this is hat mongoring and sexism and any females joining in it need to be called out on it.

Cause God dont like ugly!!! And all the hatin gonna come back at ya .......

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 01:28 PM on 10/15/2008

Yes Madeline2, you had better inform your "hatin'" Republican friends out there who scream hateful things to Obama that "God don't like ugly!" - cause they are sure behaving in the most ugly manner possible.

As a woman, my criticism of Palin is not sexist. She is just a ridiculous, selfish and self-serving human being. People who are able to look beyond themselves can see this in Palin, not because she is a woman.

You are clueless.

I'm against "hat mongoring" too - long live hats!

sorry it is not sexism. Palin is not an intelligent woman. Gov. Ann Richards of Texas was a smart woman. I didn't agree with many of her views, but she was smart. There are many women who I don't agree with but who have the intelligence and ability to convey their ideas in a clear and concise manner. Your girl thinks the end of the world is coming, she admires the Alaska secession movement and she thinks Global warming is a joke. Jesus would not approve of McCain's choice.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:22 AM on 10/20/2008

What do you exactly disagree with her on? Why do you feel "disrespected"? She's very clear in what she stands for- she's against corporate abuses, she's pro-life, she supports the right to bear arms, she's for a less intrusive government, and feels that Washington could use a dose of someone that hasn't spent their entire life there. What's to argue with? Now, I get that many woman are pro-choice (which as a mother boggles my mind) but beyond that what's really to disagree with? There's certainly nothing that should make you feel disrespected. If anything, I think it is nice to see that all women have a chance to hold offices in high power, not just left wing, liberal types. The media has it wrong, sexism is rampant among men, it's rampant among women against other women. Equal is equal, or does that only mean liberal woman should be treated as equals to men? I think maybe you did miss the point.
