ABC Rebound? "Desperate Housewives," "Brothers & Sisters" See Gains

Right on schedule, "Desperate Housewives" and "Brothers & Sisters" halted their ratings drops during their third week back on the air.

"Housewives" (15.3 million viewers, 5.9 preliminary adults 18-49 rating and a 14 share) and "Brothers" (10.1 million, 3.6/9) each climbed a tenth of a point, suggesting the ABC dramas have found a new bottom for the fall after two weeks of declines. If so, that's good news for ABC, which should continue handily winning 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. against its usual entertainment programming competition.

Still, with "America's Funniest Home Videos" (6.4 million, 1.9/6) dropping 27% from its premiere last week and "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" (11.3 million, 3.7/9) declining another couple tenths, the network couldn't overthrow the power of NFL football on NBC and Fox.
