Dennis Hopper

One of Hollywood's few Republicans has switched his vote. Dennis Hopper, 72, told reporters in France that he's praying for an Obama victory, despite decades as a Bush supporter.

"I voted for Bush, father and son, but this time I'll vote for Obama," he told journalists at the opening of a show on his life and work.

"I was the first person in my family to have been Republican," he added. "For most of my life I wasn't on the left."

"I pray God, Barack Obama is elected," he said, calling the current administration's many "lies."

Hopper stars in "An American Carol," a conservative comedy that spoofed Michael Moore and last donated money, in 2004, the RNC.

French Culture minister Christine Albanel also named Dennis Hopper as Commander of the 'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres' medal on Monday night.

It was the Republican administrations prior to the wars that helped to create the problems which brought us into the wars, not those who helped to fight and win them.

It's interesting to note how people love to blame Republicans or Democrats. Do you remember just how they got to Washington in the first place and how they stayed there? We are responsible for voting all of them there and not voting them out. Like your 401k? Thank Barney and friends.

Yeah WW II, the Japanese attacked the US at Pearl. Do you think a Republican president would have done any differently... Maybe just sit back and watch ? You're not much of a redneck for a Republican troll !
As for WW I, there were many, many reasons for the eventual involvement of the US in that war, (which had been going on for quite some time before the US joined the "world", as was also the case in WW II). Obviously, you are only capable of understanding things in black and white, so there's no point hoping you might read a little history before mouthing off.
But on the bright side, Sarah would be proud of you, and probably intimidated by your superior intellect ! You actually know that there were 2 World Wars !
Good troll !

In a way I too want Obama to win. I'm a republican and I would like to see a filibuster proof Senate run by democrats, a democrat run congress and a socialist President. I want to see if Obama can take us right passed socialism to communism and how you all like it (especially Hollywood you know because it is not FAIR for them to have more than one car and a big house and vacations). I for one will quit work and get on the dole like the rest and wait for the next Revolutionary war. Our founding fathers are rolling in their graves and what is sad is that blood has been shed to defend the country you all hate.

In case you were living under a cave, most of the blood shed in the last 60 years was under Republican Presidents. Since you are quite delusional it may be hard to accept that we are acutally safer under Democrats, but that is the fact. Republican nation building has brought us to brink of disaster.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 06:29 PM on 10/16/2008

Hmmmm, most of the blood shed has been under Republican presidents? I'm sorry, but you are factually incorrect.

Korean War: Started under Harry S. Truman, a Democrat
Vietnam War: Advisors sent at the orders of John F. Kennedy, a Democrat. Escalated under Lyndon B. Johnson, also a Democrat.

More American soldiers died during these two wars than during any military actions since then, including the first Gulf War and the current hostilites ongoing in Iraq and Afghanistan. Perhaps you should do a little more research before you start throwing blame around. After all, there's more than enough to go around on both sides.

Where have you been for the last month jacq? Bush has nationalized the banks and mortgage companies. You don't think of that as "socialism"? Besides, after eight years of this "greed is good for the ultra-wealthy" I'm quite ready for a little socialism. Why privatize the profits but socialize the debt? Oh, and in case you don't know, which it's apparent you don't, socialism and communism are two different political systems. Guess you don't feel any qualms about Bush Co. borrowing billions from the Chines communists to pay for your lifestyle either.

The ignorant shown here by @jacq8411 is astounding.

What makes it pathetic is that the ignorance appears to be willful, as nothing he said is based on any form of facts or reality. And willful ignorance is one of the very few things I absolutely despise in people.

Too bad McCain doesn't have a sex scandal or homosexual escapade in his past that would gain Hollywood appeal for him..

Dennis,

I love your acting and your a funny guy, but come on! You voted for Bush?

I have a new theory, The right always tells the left, "if you want more taxes, go ahead and pay more." I thinl the 700 billiion bailout should only be taken from people who voted for Bush. The rest of us Clinton/Gore supporters should be left out of this bailout.

Hey Dennis, want to go for a joy ride?

Hopper is out there pushing his latest project, an anti-liberal spoof of A Christmas Carol. At the same time he decides that he's been wrong all along. I can't help but wonder if he is going to tell the public not to see his film.

When I think of all the years I grew up respecting Dennis Hopper as a "rebel" , it makes me think that I took way too much for granted. I always assumed that anyone that anti-establishment focused, had to be a democrat. Now that I find out he's finally stepping in the right direction, by supporting Obama, I don't know whether to praise him, or just say....who cares. He's obviously a total hypocrite. How could anyone who has spoken so vehemently against the establishment for years, have supported Bush. What's the matter Dennis? Did your stock portfolio take a dump, like the rest of us? Is that why you've finally come to your senses? My respect for you will never be the same, but at least now you're starting to be worthy of it. About time you got a clue.

Dean Cain played Superman on TV but it doesn't make him stand for "Truth, Justice, and the American Way". He's a staunch McCain supporter.

How do you equate anti-establishment with Democrats? Barack Obama went to Harvard Law, looks like a preppy and is married with two children. He also believes in the importance of children having a father present in the home and has repudiated his own father's womanizing and drinking. Bill Clinton was a geeky white boy who went to Boy's State -- a program for future leaders, not anti-establishment types-- and later Yale Law and was also a Rhodes Scholar. And lastly, Jimmy Carter went to Annapolis which isn't exactly known as a hot-bed for the anti-establishment crowd. And do I need to mention the Kennedy clan?

Also endorsing Mccain are Dean Cain, Kelsey Grammer, James Woods, Leslie Nielsen, Gary Coleman, Kevin Farley, and Jon Voight. Not exactly a-list entertainers.

All will NEVER see a nickel of my entertainment dollar.

Obama's List is a Who's Who of intelligence and sound judgment.

McCain has Snarf.

Lets see, do I want a prez who I can share a beer with while watching the game, or someone who's actually qualified to lead the free world and resolve crises with a steady hand?

I think I'll go with Obama on this one.
