On Race: Things in America could be, and in fact have been a lot worse than they are today. While it pains me to see some of the racist, zenophobic inclinations on display at recent McCain-Palin rallies all-in-all the races in America generally manage to get along. We shouldn't ever lose sight of that fact.

ANY black show owned by a white person and becomes successful will invariably get screwed up. Look at In Living Color and Chappelle Show. Screwed up because white folks couldn't keep there hands out of it. And it will happen with Chocolate News too.

Bil Maher had a stupendous "New Rules" segment a couple of weeks ago along the same lines, describing McCain & especially Palin in terms usually stereotypical of African Americans. It was the most brilliant thing I think I've ever seen him do.

Me personally, I'll be voting for both sides!!

I hope Dave keeps his show clean, at least until the election is over because he can get a little Raunchy and that wouldn't help especially if he is going to talk about the election!!

Actually, I noticed a few flecks of gray when I met Obama two years ago. It usually starts in one's 40s, although for anyone who has ever aspired to or occupied the White House the process accelerates. The only visible exception was Ronald Reagan.

Yes! I noticed that too. He's as been up against some serious odds and some serious stress. That's enough to turn anyone gray. And look how brilliantly he has handled himself the whole time. The way he handled the Clintons, and now McCain and dastardly GOP. The man has the patience of a saint and the political skill and will of a genius. America would be childish and downright foolish not to chose this man over McCain.

We cannot afford to be complacent and comfortable although we may be tempted. All of it means NOTHING if we don't go out and VOTE!! Lets take our country back and start healing the wounds.

Funny. Just last night, watching Obama's speech in Toledo on the economy, on C-Span, I noticed how gray his hair had become, and with the light shining on his head the way it did, it actually made his hair look a bit "blond" and his face lighter. For the first time, you could actually see the white "half" in Obama. It's worth noting that he never takes the easy road, though, by saying that he's half-white.

I don't think if he said he's half-white it would be the easy road, bluevillage. A lot of the crazies really hate race-mixing They hate Obama more for being half-white than if he had two black parents.

What the anti-race-mixing crazies don't understand is that "race-mixing" in the U.S. has been rampant for the past 400 years, whether it was between white male slave master and black female slave , a person of European origin and a Native American, etc. In the earliest years, there was rampant cohabitation and even marriage between African slaves and white indentured servants. No one really cared in those days and race relations were somewhat laissez-faire in spite of slavery. People were too busy clearing the wilderness, planting crops, taming a new land, and trying to survive to be bothered about race. The attempts at social control were gradually introduced as the country became more settled. White indentured servitude disappeared and slavery became more ossified as greater strictures were placed on slaves of African origin.
