Macy's Pushing Local Theme

The 11th floor of Macy's on State Street is filled with department-store buyers, strategists and executives for the first time in 18 years as part of Macy's reorganization to appeal to shoppers' tastes, store by store.

The 75 employees who've moved into the State Street store's offices work for Macy's district team and two regional teams.

The teams came to Chicago -- Macy's No. 1 Midwest market -- after Macy's announced in February that as part of a nationwide reorganization it would close its regional office in Minneapolis, cutting 910 jobs there, and place executives here.
