Taegan Goddard reports that John McCain confirmed this morning he would try to bring up William Ayers at Wednesday's debate. McCain appeared to blame Obama for the move:

In an interview on a St. Louis radio station, McCain said Obama's comments that "I didn't have the guts" to talk about William Ayers in the last presidential debate have "probably ensured" that the former 1960s radical will come up in Wednesday's debate.

The Huffington Post's Seth Colter Walls wrote Monday that Ayers was "expected" to come up at the debate.

When asked if McCain plans to "go after" Obama on these topics this Wednesday, Bounds added: "So much of a debate is determined by the moderator and the questions that are posed to the candidates. I expect it could come up and I expect John McCain will ask Barack Obama to speak truthfully about his relationship with friend and unrepentant terrorist Bill Ayers. I think that voters deserve to know, deserve to vet these candidates to the fullest extent... Certainly, Bill Ayers raises questions. Certainly, Tony Rezko raises questions."

If it is McCain's intention to raise the issue of Ayers -- with or without moderator Bob Schieffer's prompting -- it would serve as something of an answered prayer to many of the Arizonan's town hall attendees, one of whom even begged McCain to bring on the character attacks in the last presidential debate of the season.

I post this exerpt from an article in the Chicago Tribune dated 10/14/2008 in a piece by Eric Zorn.In part it says "other civic projects Ayers was involved in included University of Illinois ands Northwestern University Presidents'top honchos from Ameritech,Continental Bank, and the Field Museum and a former publisher of the Chicago Tribune." He was publishing books on education, helping lead a charge to get grant money for school reform and being honored as Chicago's Citizen of the Year in 1997. Let John McCain make something out of that.

2 more Oliver North

both Liddy and North are convicted criminals. Ayers never charged. Liddy served time and North got off on a technicality (something Conservatives hate when other do it). Both definitely and repeatedly have been vocal in their "unrepentantness"

Who cares? Barack Obama was 8 years old when William Ayers was involved with the Weathermen. In 1969/1970 Sarah Palin was barely born and it is doubtful she had heard of William Ayers until she started reading from the teleprompter. In 1969 the USA and the world was in such a different place and that is the trouble I have with John McCain and this William Ayers business. William Ayers has since done more good than John McCain has done during his entire Senate stay. William Ayers is smarter than John McCain and has more to offer. Why is it that John McCain brings up this old stuff? He should have used this energy on figuring out how to help the majority of Americans or better yet he should have asked William Ayers for some economic ideas!!

John mcCain should explain Sarah Palin and her husband Todd's documented direct involvement with that Alaska succionist group. It is documented that Tod Palin was a dues paying card toting member. Sarah Palin went to their rallies, Sarah Palin received donotations to her Mayoral campaign from this group. This is not stuff that happened when Todd and Sarah were 8 years old. This is stuff of recent time! Talk about that John McCain.

How about bringing up the fact that this is the first time ever that the Pres/VP nominee have both been found guilty of ethics violations. Talk about not having a leg to stand on!

Well, nothing like giving your opponent a head start so he can prep for the attack. McCain is deluded to think bringing that up is going to somehow help him. He will only do it for his base, but it just makes him look bad in the end. McCain has enough skeletons in his own closet and it's getting pretty crowded in there everyday. I think Obama wants him to bring it up so he can throw some dirt back at him.

If McCain is deluded enough to actually believe his own hateful rhetoric, and so devoid of reason that he really imagines that this phony, trumped up Ayers baloney actually has legs, then he is in for a very rough and humiliating night.

McCain was baited to do this and it looks like he fell for it. You can bet that Obama is completeley ready to respond. And, don't forget that the independents and swing voters totally hate it when the candidates go negative.

McCain Can not shake Obamas wisdom, intelligence and the Common sense by bringing dirty laundry to the debate.Macain will fall like a burnt tree.Common sense will direct Obama the way to tackle McCain.McCain already a old withered and dried tree and now he will be burnt by his own questions.
Angels( like Paulin )may be McCains side but the God is on the Obama's side .Mr.McCain ,You are too old to take all this punches and stress.I feel sorry for his unnecessary effort to become the President of USA.
Its going to give extreme stress and we can see this in your face and on Cindy McCain's face. You gave your service to this great nation and it is time to leave the antique at the show case or inside the garage.Obama is the right choice at this crucial time.It is not musical chair to become a president. No body is going to stop the music when McCain is near to the chair because here the man with the musical instrument playing the right music and going to sit right on the Presidents chair on 4th November,2008.
