(Crain's) -- The Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum has cut its staff by about 18% amid the faltering economy.
The reductions, which were across the board, come as state and federal subsidies and other funds from various contracts have been "coming in slower than expected," said CEO Laurene von Klan.
"We had to act as responsible stewards of the institution," said Ms. Von Klan. "Nobody likes to do this. It was a very tough decision."
