The Hill:

Barack Obama's ads are now appearing in several sports video games, including the granddaddy of them all, Madden football.

The Obama campaign has purchased space in the popular Xbox 360 game "Madden NFL 09″ and nine other titles by video game maker Electronic Arts, said Holly Rockwood, the company's director of corporate communications.

Only gamers playing online in 10 states can see the ads, which appear as stadium signage or billboards, Rockwood said. (The ads are downloaded when gamers log on to the Xbox Internet service.) Unsurprisingly, all 10 states are swing states: Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Indiana, Montana, North Carolina, New Mexico, Nevada, Ohio and Wisconsin. President Bush won all of those states in 2004 except for Wisconsin.

Brilliant move...

John McCain wants to know who the real Barack and Michele Obama are? Perhaps he and the rest of America should sit down and watch this video to find out.

i think this is smart advertising, but i fear that the repubs might use it against him...it plays right into the "democrats are too flashy and elite" theme

I don't think it matters. Video games are very mainstream. If Republicans want to make an issue out of this, they'll look out of touch and very 20th century which is one of the reasons why they're failing miserably in this election cycle.

Now that's a great way to attract voters you'd want...Geeky losers who can't take their eyes off the video screen...God help us.

What anger.

Looks like Obama struck a nerve.

Don't get mad because Our candidate has a brain, and lives in the 21st century while yours is still in the 20th.

"Now that's a great way to attract voters you'd want...Geeky losers who can't take their eyes off the video screen...God help us."

Your sentiment is precisely why John McCain is going to lose in this election. It seems that you have been living under the rocks for the past 12 years. The notion that only "geeky losers" play video games is so out of touch with reality that I can't stop laughing at it. Do you know how many families own a video game console? Majority of the gamers are adults, not kids.

I'll give you an idea of how mainstream video games are - Video game industry is more profitable than movie industry.

I really hope Obama wins. If he doesn't it will have to be due to ignorance, racism and stupidity.

There are a lot of stupid and ignorant bigots in America.

Don't let your guard down guys, keep fighting until every last vote is counted. The republican have shown their true hateful selves at the McCain/Palin rallies. I don't want people like the ones in the crowds running this country, like supporter like leader.

Reeeeeaalllllly dislike this. I'm a gaming purist, and most gamers HATE in-game advertising of any sort. This could come back to bite Barack at least in a small way.

I've found the opposite, that most gamers don't mind in game advertisement as long as it fits into the mythos of the game. Having billboards on the side of the road during a race and advertisements in stadiums and arenas during games is something that is normally seen in live so it just supports the illusion within the game. All-in-all a smart move by Team Obama!!

Why is it over the top? Video games are pretty mainstream nowadays.
