Via Politico, The Scranton Times reports another threat against Barack Obama at a Sarah Palin rally Tuesday:

Chris Hackett addressed the increasingly feisty crowd as they await the arrival of Gov. Palin.

Each time the Republican candidate for the seat in the 10th Congressional District mentioned Barack Obama the crowd booed loudly.

One man screamed "kill him!"

At previous rallies, McCain-Palin supporters have shouted "Kill Him!" as well as "Treason!" "Terrorist!" and "Off With His Head!"

The latest violent call came on the same day that Brave New Films has come out with a compilation of these moments, urging supporters to "tell John McCain to end the politics of hate."

McCain has made it very clear he is not going to aggressively stop these reactions to the fear mongering. McCain says one thing, Palin, the surrogate and the RNC do something the opposite. McCain does not put a stop to it - he can't because he knows this is his one last chance. He is not thinking ahead to the end of the election. If he loses (and I pray he will) these people will not slink back to their homes and wait 4 years for the next election. The right wing media has them fired up and they are "mad as hell" and someone is going to reap the wrath of what McCain has sown. James Carville intimated a few days ago that if Obama was up 5% in the polls and lost the election, the people would not stand for it again. But if the polls showed he was behind, we'd grudgingly accept the loss and go on about our business. These people, I fear will not - they have been ginned up and will be seeking an outlet for their anger and fear. I plan to stay home for several days after the election.

So, we know whiny McCain thinks it's all Obama's fault, however where is the secret service? I would think they are suppose to at least look into it.

I'd love to know what Palin's Secret Service detail is doing during all of this. Don't they have *some* responsibility to at least put a word in the candidate's ear (even if it's certain to fall out the other) to dial this stuff down?

These Rethuglicans are way out of control, and they don't discourage these ranting either. It's pathetic and certainly not Presidential.
McCain has devoted his political career to fighting against everything we care about: peace, justice, jobs, education, health care, the environment, civil rights, voting rights, and honest government.
Now stand back John Boy and let the business of being in charge and responsible to the hands of an educated, poised, confident, competent and intelligent candidate of which you are not.
Obama 08!

Interesting. And here we have Mr. Frum coming on Rachel Maddow's show telling her to tone down her speech? Did I miss something?? McCain was asked why he allowed people at his campaign to shout "Kill Him" etc. In turn he said, "I heard it from the Obama campaign too." Really, I saw a rally where people who attended an Obama camp tried booing and he stopped them. They weren't saying "Kill him", nor anything even close. Democracy works when we fight back for our freedom. McCain may have his sign stating "Country First" but americans have given them 8 years to show that and they failed. Let's try something else.

lots of posts on here calling for this person to be arrested or wondering why the secret service isn't investigating. I don't know that the secret service isn't investigating, they don't report in with me as often as I would like, but don't forget that we have freedom of speech in this country even of unpopular speech. Now I know some of you are are half way into writing a response that calls me stupid and telling me that we can't shout fire in a crowded theater but you are wrong. Brandenburg V. Ohio 1969 is the current case law used to determine if speech is illegal. Shouting fire in a crowded theater is expressly protected by Justice Douglas's concurring statement specifically in his final paragraph.

Speech that is illegal is speech that advocates and is likely to produce a imminent lawless action. Shouting "kill him" at a rally for the opposing party doesn't even come close to this definition.

Speech is limited all the time in the USA. Whether it's legal or not is decided by the courts. Frequently posters, clothing, and words lead to arrests.

"Shouting "kill him" at a rally for the opposing party doesn't even come close to this definition."

This would be decided by a court.

If the wingnut 's yells instigated a violent riot, they would be handled appropriately: with tasers, hoses and tear gas. I am sure the majority of those at Palin's rallies are aware of this and really do not want to be arrested. I believe the yells are from a few crazies, or are plants by the McCain campaign to work people up, just like some of the neocon trolls on some of the blogs are paid plants.

I think Palin is getting a big kick out of the whole thing, I believe it is a game for her. What the hey, she's had a hell of a ride, attention and future riches for books, appearances, etc. certainly a lot more than she had before she was brought into the limelight. She deserves less.

She deserves to be locked up for contemptuous behavior in not putting a stop to these nut jobs and their ranting of hatred. But then she's McCain's sidekick and McCain has devoted his political career to fighting against everything we care about: peace, justice, jobs, education, health care, the environment, civil rights, voting rights, and honest government. They are so far from whatthis country needs right now they are laughable, not to mention pathetic losers.

Maybe, but we can't lock up everybody in anticipation of a nasty occurance. Far more practical to lock up the supposed target.

Don't we have a double standard? You can talk about bombing at an airport and get whisked away. But at a McCain/Palin rally hateful comments are tolerated, and I'd say, even fostered. The candidates need to be held responsible. Someone needs to step in, take control of the mike, and give a general warning about such behaviors, if those dear "Country First" people won't do it. What garbage the GOP attracts!

Old photo for this post. She is not allowed to wear that hairstyle anymore..... Imagine that, a moose hunting mom who is told by a male (I'm willing to bet) campaign manager how to wear her hair.

Bets, anyone??

I am encouraged that even some Republicans are disgusted by Palin. Even they realize Palin is a disgrace to the Republican ticket.

If something happens to Barack or any of his family by some crazy people, I'm holding McCain & Palin responsible.

I just emailed them also. Went right to the website. I'm sure they'll just hit the delete button, but at least I let them know how I feel about this scum of the earth.
